    Sorry about the sound being a bit off, I was having some technical issues. 🙈I have a new connector ordered and will be back to normal next time. ✅What are your thoughts on the Volvo EX30 update issues? Share your thoughts below!

    Received the update 1.3.0 & 1.3.1 yesterday. Didn’t had to go to the dealer. Update worked very well and was very fast (20min). My problems with the internet connection disappeared a while ago. I think it has to do with the amount of traffic Volvo can use through their contract with what I think is telenor(not sure). I don’t have problems with Spotify, works perfect for me. There is a washing mode now and the camera in the back is better now. Looks better and isn’t lagging anymore. :)

      Congrats! Cool that 1.3.1 fixed your problems, that's great! I'm looking forward to the 1.3.1 video where I'll look at all the progress that's been made.

    I started my test drive yesterday and can confirm following from my initial experience
    1 DB radio drops out randomly and sometimes when I dictating... No firm cause, seems random
    2 Range predictor works now
    3 I absolutely hate the steering wheel controls which are a flat black discs that you have to jab away at to change volume etc
    4 auto charge is limited to 6amp and does need to be changed in menu
    5 key fob only works at drivers door so you can't access the car from any other side. Wish there was an unlock button.
    I feel like Volvo decided to eliminate buttons as their key criteria

    • @siasek
      @siasek  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, I totally get your complaints! 3) The buttons on the steering wheel are just stupidly designed, the whole surface is really un-ergonomic, it's just savings at any cost at the expense of maneuverability 4) the software 1.3.1 should have solved this so the car remembers the highest value (32A) 5) is there possibly a way to set this in the infotainment, to unlock only the driver's side? I had this option in my e-Golf, so wondering if this could possibly be a specific setting

    Siasek Thanks for doing this videos. It has been very helpful. We have had our EX30 for 2 weeks now. We had in the car internet during handover at Dealer. Drove away and it was gone. Convinced they were using WI-FI at showroom to demonstrate Google assist features. App was also very very unreliable as well. Showed doors open when locked etc. Dealer said they have had no training yet but to bring it in next Monday. I was not going to wait that long so I used y tube and forums etc and after 2 days of resets and configuration changes I got it all working. It has 1.3.1 and as you say not all issues fixed. I am subscribing to you now, so please keep us up to date as Dealers know nothing and just refer back to Volvo! Thanks Tim in UK

      Oh wow, I bet you're right about the Wi-fi, that's pretty messed up. Thank you for sharing your experiences! I'll definitely be keeping my eye on these issues and posting updates as they come. Welcome aboard 😊

    Like someone else commented. 1.3.1 has been running for several weeks (car in Sweden) after OTA update.

    • @siasek
      @siasek  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      that's awesome! Maybe it depends on the country, I know some of the users I spoke to on discussion forums were in Germany for example. You were able to get OTA? That's great. Also unfortunately not the case for everyone, but it's encouraging to hear that it does work in some cases

      Same here! But it was wonky and took a long time to start downloading. Also, the “patch logs” does not exactly tell us anything about what it fixed.

    I'm of the Ford Anglia generation and my current car is an EX30. The dealer installed 1.3 which resolved the 6 amp charging issue but scheduled charges don't turn on. Also, I've noticed that the car wi fi seems to be stuck on 5G whereas, when sat in the car, my phone will pick the strongest signal, which is often 4G (bandwidth issue?). When I originally went to collect the car from then dealer, they couldn't get it to connect to the internet and had to reboot. I got the impression that the dealer didn't really know what to do and I wonder how the conversations go between China, Sweden and the dealers? Also, I find the direction indicator stalk far too sensitive. It's too easy to turn on the opposite indicator when manually cancelling after an overtaking manoeuvre. It will also auto cancel too soon when changing lanes. Following drivers must think I'm pissed and it's not a good look coming from a safety focused Volvo. Apart from those niggles, it's a brilliant car to own and drive....so far.

      I appreciated your description as belonging to the Ford Anglia generation. I belong to the Ford Popular generation, having bought a 1959 model for £15.50 in 1971, while holidaying in Britain. Currently, we have a VW Buzz, with software 3.5. It works, but does not provide any bragging rights. Our daughter's inlaws have a EX30 on order. She and our son-in-law have a BMW i3 and a Tesla Model Y. Of all of those vehicles, only the i3 works as one expects a car to do so. It is 5 years old (2019 model), and the i3 has been made since 2013, so most of the bugs should have been worked out, by now.
      My approach to automotive software, is that one cannot expect anything to work optimally for the first five years. So, the only thing we are dependent on in terms of software is charging. GPS navigation is backed up on our phones. We try to have a manual backup plan for everything, including paper maps, should they be necessary. Enjoy, your EX30.

    • @siasek
      @siasek  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's amazing that you bought a car for £15.5 in 1959, really hits home how inflation has completely destroyed the value of money.
      I would say that i3 was still made by people from the old school, they have new teams for new cars and that's reflected in the results... because they often don't know anything about cars, who knows if they even have a license. 😅

      I think Geely In China did what it could to cover up issues and impress Volvo by lying to them just to get production rolling and those tax tariffs were not surprising saw that coming a mile away considering all that crazy business with those ballon spy satellites hovering over the USA last year. Some form of punishment was due to come from the US. Don’t get me wrong It’s a beautiful car but feel everything will change for the better once the manufacturing begins in Belgium.

      While preparing my new video, I found out that there are unfortunately problems with this even after the 1.3.1 update. I hope that volvo will resolve it properly soon, it's just really amateurish

    1.3.1 here. 1.3 was skipped. 6 amp charging issue is solved and radio bit better, connectivity a bit better but not great. Profiles dont connect the phones anymore sometime, need to manually select almost every time. App logins issues.

      @siasek  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Doesn't sound like it's as much of an improvement as was expected. Thank you for letting me know! I do hope the next update is better. and that OTA works for more people (some in the comments say they got OTA, others not so much)! Did you have to go to the dealership for the 1.3.1 update?

    I am driving my EX30 since 1st march 2024 without any internet connectivity issues so far in DE.
    Sure, there are also some, I would say minor bugs but I like the car and I did expect that more or less from a brand new car.
    I am ok they skipped the deployment of 1.3 after they realized it still has some bugs. Better to postpone it than to deploy it with known bugs.
    I am now waiting for 1.3.1 and I am sure it will solve some bugs but not all but it’s still a perfect car for me.

    • @JoachimBeuchert

      @siasek  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Android Automotive is flawless, see how precisely it works in Renault Megane/Scenic E-Tech or Polestar... But Volvo just rushed it too much this time.

    Wow, massively first world issues! I agree that the Volvo software is shit, just work around as an early adopter. I wish I hadn't bought the car but just deal with it.

    • @siasek
      @siasek  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree they're first world problems. Outside of the problems though the car also comes with a first-world price tag, so I'd hope for a little more precision 🤷 I do hope Volvo works them out with the next update so you and other early adopters can actually enjoy all the good about it

    • @Vlatard
      @Vlatard 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Apple Car Play or even better Android Auto(pleaseeeeeee)...but seems that it's taking too long or maybe never. Google has absolutely a bunch of top apps even a good enough OS(Android) and some features that works like a charm...but when they start to develop a "new world" OS or functionality to be used by third party enterprises...seem that they're dragging their feet with these new developements. It's Android Automotive or Wear OS. IMO It's better not to depend on Google, if you have to implement it in a third party system.
      For me, and maybe for everyone, probably prefers using Android Auto(or the Apple thing for it) while they don't fix these problems...but they deny us that possibility

    • @siasek
      @siasek  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's a big disappointment that neither Android auto nor Carplay are available, Renault has had both in Android Automotive from the start, wireless and it works perfectly. I don't understand what they're doing over at Volvo.
