      You're welcome. Italy can be fun. A few years ago I spent a month in Sicily and some of the roads in in Palermo are really narrow where a full size truck physically could not fit. Just take your time and everything will be OK. 🙂

    I did "pay now" at Boston Logan Airport...guy told me I had to pay like another $200 which would've been the "pay later" cost. 😡 won't do again because now I don't trust them. Also, they NEVER check your car before or after. They just say pick a car before, leave your car after. Seriously.

      @@JerryRomineStocks if a company pulls a scam like this on you and you use a credit card. Contact the bank afterwards and cancel all payments to them. I think it costs about 20$ bucks and starts an investigation that will reimburse you after they side with you. Just say the company is a scammer and does honor their contracts. They will be barred from the credit card system for life. Like the company the owners and possibly some of the employees. The banking system for all its faults does not like scammers and theirs

    I've tried your advice on getting a mini van, the best I can do is $65/day over 5 days.. Using Kayak their price was the best out of all the sites including the ones you mention. Most are listing minivans for $125/day. Back in at the end of March 2020 I was able to rent one for $34/day but really it was $44 for 24hrs after fees and taxes from Enterprise. I booked maybe a day or two ahead at that time.. I don't ever remember rental car prices this high before. Did the rental car companies sell all their cars and slim down inventory, and now suddenly people are renting cars? I'm perplexed, this has thrown a wrench into the cost of purchasing a used item I need to pick up that's far away..

    Would be great if he updated the video. I tried all his tricks and could not get better than $20 USD/day. I still like using the sites he suggested, but there are some things he didn't cover in terms of tricks they use. Some of the best deals were for electric vehicles...Since I am not familiar with Europe, there is no way for me to know how easy it is to charge where I am traveling, and how much that would cost me compared to diesel or petrol. Another trick the sites tried was giving me a great deal on a van!!! I don't want a van that I will not be able to park because it is unwieldy, not to mention how much more I would pay for petrol! However, if I wanted a mini or compact it was going to be double the price. - Anyone out there know if there is a more current video on this topic? - Thank you!

    Looking at renting a car and I have been given several options. The cheapest one is for Goldcar (which I learned from your video would be a bad option!) vs $20 more for Budget. Do you give a listing on another video of best/worst rated companies, so when given a choice between paying $20 more for a better rated company vs taking the cheaper lousy rated company your viewers will have an idea of which way to go? - Thank you!

    • @JerryRomineStocks
      @JerryRomineStocks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As a generalization I would avoid the scammy companies because they are not worth the trouble or risk. However, if you do go with these companies you can limit your risk by following what I cover in this video, documenting the damage to the vehicle (photos & video), and paying with a credit card that offers built-in Auto Rental Coverage. The key is documenting everything with a paper trail. Basically the scammer companies are looking for easy victims and when they see that is not you they will normally move on for any easier mark.

    Seems to be much cheaper than ins from car rental counter?
    My personal car insurance covers full except loss of use. After doing some check on my Costco Anywhere Visa card , it should cover car rental and don't have to get CDW(have to decline it at rental car counter or at booking).

    • @JerryRomineStocks
      @JerryRomineStocks  ปีที่แล้ว

      That doesn't sound right. Did you have insurance from your credit card? If your credit card has the car rental coverage you should be able to rent. You can always book it online and then decline the OPTIONAL coverages at pickup.

    • @joelincolnlincoln6315

      @@JerryRomineStocks i had credit card coverage too. So what I'm saying is, theres no law in Florida that you can't use your own car insurance or your credit card. But theres no law, forcing car rental places to not gouge the customer. They can insist you buy coverages just so they can make more money and otherwise will not rent to you. They simply will say you can not have the car from us. Even of you prepaid. Again I had this happen this week at 3 car places in Orlando. I've been renting cars 6 months a year non stop in usa for 10 years with no problems till this week but this is my 1st orlando rental sice covid. They all became scammed when hertz mostly went out of business

    Thank you so much for this very informative video. I’m planning our first trip to Faro, Portugal and never rented a car in Europe before, the insurance part is very confusing. My capital one venture card says you have to decline the car rental company’s insurance in order to use what the card offers, which seems to be only CDW. On economybookings there is no option to decline the insurance so what is my option? Also, do you think someone who hasn’t driven manual in years can get used to it fast enough to manage the Algarve or should we go with the more expensive automatic? Lastly, it says they require an international drivers license but on other websites it says US license is sufficient, what’s you opinion on this? Would really appreciate your advise. Thank you so much in advance!

    • @JerryRomineStocks
      @JerryRomineStocks  ปีที่แล้ว

      1. The insurances are offered at the car rentals and this is where I decline them. They do it this way because they want to advertise the lowest price possible then pressure you into getting insurance you do not need.
      2. You can easily get an international drivers license from AAA. Quick and easy. Better safe then sorry.
      3. I personally would go with a manual. If you could drive a manual before what makes you think you cannot now? Only you can answer this question but if it is really a big concern borrow a friends (or rent one) to see if you've still got it. The odds are you do! 😎

      I have taken rental cars through Europe but it was a few years back. I had no issues and just made sure it was allowed in the policy. The rental car agencies will tell you if it is or is not allowed. Then, make sure you double check with them that you have the correct paperwork.

The only way I can see how these "$7/day" car rental TH-cam videos work is they are in an extremely lucky location where prices are way cheap. I live abroad and come th o the US for only about three weeks out of the year and it's actually cheaper for me to rent a storage unit and just put my car in it for the year.

    Is it there such a thing as "LOSS OF PROFIT / LOSS OF USE" COVERAGE for which you'll have to pay EXTRA to be 100% covered ??? > for example: the car you are renting gets damaged in a accident and needs to be sent to a REPAIR SHOP. The RENTAL COMPANY then, if you did'nt pay for the extra coverage, can charge you a " LOSS OF PROFIT / LOSS OF USE" fee for the TIME [ DAYS / WEEKS ] the car can not be used by another client ?????

    The price depends also on the low season. LIke here in the summer time is a high season for rental and the demand is high and therefore ofcourse the price is high.
    In the low season like in the winter time there is no problem to get a good deal on a rent especially if you want to rent a car 2-4 weeks or more.
    I cant speak for other people but in my case the customers has always right and I never want to scam a customer.
    I just think some people scam and dont value their work or line of work.
    But supply and demand makes the basics of the price for almost every business regarding rent.

    They is also a mandatory insurance that they have to put and it is like $7-11 per day.

      @JerryRomineStocks  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is no mandatory insurance if you pay with a major credit card that includes insurance as a benefit. I never pay for their insurance because it is a waste of money since it already covered with my credit card.

And travel insurance doesn't cover things related to car damage? If basic travel insurance is good, I always get basic travel insurance for like emergency medical coverage, so I thought that would cover it. Pardon my ignorance!

    I also want to mention with my experience, they gave me free prepaid fuel my next rental which saved me $60 on my recent road trip.
    I always buy lost waiver damage and third party liability, people can use their own insurance, third party, but I been in an accident 2 years ago fully insured with rental insurance and that case isn't settled yet (happened in January 2019 Las Vegas in a black Dodge Challenger R/T when Uber driver wasn't paying attention and hit my rental car.

    But the cars must be fixed and if a customer makes a damage then offcourse the customer must pay but that is why the insurrance is on the rent.
