Armys interest in the concept. The U.S. Army researched the VL concept they made it work. experimenting with the 5.56 mm rounds. was just as powerful, and was shorter and lighter than 5.56mm rounds. In that respect it would have been great success. Abandoned the idea knowing the ammo could not stand up under the rough handling it would take in the feild.

I wonder if there is enough air pressure to use the diesel effect to boost pellet speed?
I'm sure if there is enough pressure to ignite the charge there is enough to make it diesel using petroleum jelly or something.
