    Hi , I am new to your channel only because your cab-over ( i love these things ) caught my attention and I needed to pop in an comment.
    A friend of mine got into repairing and restoring these right before I went into the military.
    I actually tracked him down a few hours ago , He currently lives in Canada and runs is own oil reclaim business and uses tank trucks to do so.
    He told me , everything you pull off that truck should be put back on, and don't change nothing, not even the wheels...nothing...because....
    If there is an existing build sheet somewhere, you will see the previous owner paid for all the options on it, and you actually have a very expensive truck from that time. From the cab skirts/runners (at the back of the cab hiding the equipment behind the cab) , tanks, and the wind splitter on the top. If you can find another splitter, that is great.
    From experience doing fiberglass work , that can be fiber-glassed back together and repaired, it will just take time.
    the only thing really that could be changed, without losing the actually build of the truck is the paint... maybe.... But, I even think that original paint scheme is great.
    This should be restored to original , polished up, and used to haul your other hauls, and shown off. I think your 5th will attach to it also. (might need an adapter)
    I will watch and see how it goes, going to send my friend the link also.
    I talked to him about if he had any connections any more for restoration, he said he doesn't, he barely works on his own any more..lol.
    Looking forward to more videos on this lovely.

      They can just take measurements and color samples of the stripes and repaint it to look exactly the way it did just stronger healthy paint. In my opinion there's nothing beautiful about patina its gross and rots the trucks body shortening its life, rust is cancer for cars its eats till there's nothing left I hate rust, kill it.

  • @1chish
    @1chish 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    As an old school Brit trucker and a retired Scania Master Tech. used to 'cabovers' I hope you keep it as original as you can. The period white wheels can be shotblasted and repainted and where possible repaint the chassis and axles. The paint on the cab looks great 'as is' and could be just prepped and polished. Leave it 'warts and all' as we say here and let it wear its age with pride. It is what it is and all the better for it.
    Just a little tip if I may? Those trailer lines on the back of the cab should be rerouted to a bracket on the chassis. Less 'stuff' under the cab, they can be left connected to a trailer when the cab is tilted, easier to fix and looks 'right'.
    Have to say I am so glad you never slipped off that roof .... Nice project mate.

      Not true! I worked for a Cummins Distributor for 15 years from 1980 to 1995.Look behind the air compressor area on the block and their is a s/n stamped into the block go to almost any dealership and give them that number and they can look it up and tell you the engine hp.

    To : Bruce Wilson, I'm a huge fan and love your video's & hope you have more for us to watch, you asked the viewers what name should you call it & I think you should call it " I'm still alive " and my dear friend MARTI loves that name to? Speaking of my friend MARTI, he was a truck driver since 1990 and had a terrible wreck in 1995 when he was 29 years old? He was driving in a heavy snow storm and you could hardly see the highway and every trucker was slamming into each other and alot of them where killed and alot where seriously injured and MARTI was one of them and his Kenworth was badly wrecked and he cherish his lightly blue Kenworth and he had a very long sleeper with double fuel tanks on each side..!! MARTI is in a wheelchair know and will never walk again and he hates missing the highway and talking to his friends on his CB radio and his handle was " Little Bear " and he's been on Good Morning America, numerous of radio talk shows and in his local news paper? Broke every bone in his body and was in a coma for a long time & he talks to school children about his injury and refused to talk to any religious talk shows and there's one I can't mention because there to snobby? He's a believer in the Holy Spirit and sometimes he asks why his life was spared and he told me that our Heavenly Father did not want him yet & there must be for a reason? He's now in a Nursing Home, and doesn't feel any pity about himself and loves to talk alot and wants to see the completion of your International and what handle are you going to call yourself? He know lives in Cape May Courthouse, New Jersey in a Nursing Home and I don't think I'm allowed to say there name and does not want to get into trouble by them & loves the name " I'm still alive " for the name of your Big Rig? MARTI gives you 2 thumbs up and I'm giving you these ♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡ love your video's & I'll keep watching and so will my friend and he loves your video's also?

      I pray not too much. Even if it wasn't dead in a yard its not a valuable truck at all. Probably a 300HP cummins (Maybe a 330HP M11) in it and a 9 speed. Not very desirable anymore. 400HP is considered the bare minimum anymore.
