Sid, Paul, Anton, and Will have the dream gig. to get to play with all the artists that they have played with over the last 30 years is just insane. also play at the rock and roll hall of fame every year is not to shabby also.
Most Rockin I have ever seen Paul Schaffer's Band. I liked that band better when it was just the 4 of them. SRV...what more can be said. He makes a good band sound incredible!
Yeah Stevie was a born again once he left rehab...here's a quote from his personal diary, "God I pray that I be cleansed in the blood of Jesus Christ. Born again. I pray that I may be of use to you as you see fit. Amen." He was an incredible musician but it's sad that many people overlook this...
Check out the video of the house band with Michael Martin Murphy on Carolina in the Pines. They are having almost as much fun as they seem to be having here. Must be the best gig in show business.
Yeah your right. I was looking at the wrong thing on the yellow Strat when I typed my last message that made it look like a Telecaster. Either way this video leaves me wanting A LOT more! Stevie licks at the end are out of this world considering he probably couldn't use the typical setup he was used to using
(Accidently clicked "Post Comment") Anyways, where was I? Oh yeah, magic wasn't involved. Oh, and I guess you could also say that the creative perfectionist that SRV was, and the unspoken competition between him and his brother Jimmie, contributed to his success.
Man this song is awesome and Stevie laid down an amazing performance like always. Thanks for this upload, I've been looking for this one for quite some time. But is it more or did it look like Stevie have to shorten up his song? Because the solo sounded really short. He probably did because they didn't have much time for Stevie to lay down one of his amazing long solos
He must have had to change the song around because the solo does come earlier in the song, and there's one at the end. Stevie shortened up the first one and just made the last one even better!
yea..i agree..i THINK in stevies case that his music, friends, and family were MORE of a positive influence than god. but i obviously dont know that for sure. what i DO know is that after he cleaned up his playing was phenomenal, and that he talked about spreading love and being there for the people that need you (brothers, friends, family, fans etc)..and thats the important part. he wasn't a crusader..but he seemed like quite a person, and one that i wish i had been able to meet and talk to
I didn't say rehab and christian theology go hand and hand. My point was that it's a little known fact about his life. However, if you do happen to come along his diary which he wrote while in rehab, you'll find Christ was one of the main reason's why his recovery was so successful in the first place.
It wasn't magic that shot SRV to the top. It was hard work, those meat hooks extending from his forearms, and David Bowie. Now, the fact that SRV impressed David Bowie at the 82' Montreax Jazz Festival, (which, in turn, set the course for getting SRV the attention he deserved), was either lucky or the call of destiny. agic was involved
The second guitar and the bass are wayyy too loud drowning The Man out. Glad this only happened once. But even with the distraction it is no problem seeing and hearing where the REAL talent is.
god and jesus have nothing to do with cleaning up. what does have to do with it is realizing whats going on and understanding the consequences if you dont. Stevie, no matter what he was after he cleaned up, came to realize that he was going to lose everything and let alot of people down if he didnt take care of himself. theres no shame in spreading love and taking care of yourself just for the sake of doing it. theres no reason to do it just to make amends with god.
double trouble is so much better than those support guys, cuz double trouble sounds perfect with stevie.. and these letterman people that replaced 'em here sound too rough.. the bass hurts your ears and the drums are just too weak.
Man you can see how excited that band was to play with him and he just fed off of it to give another great performance. 3:28 is classic SRV

One of my favorite SRV songs. It says so much, and is so true!
absolutely INCREDIBLE does not even begin to describe this! if i had 1/10th the talent of Stevie, i'd be happy!
As alway. Stevie bring happiness to every one around him.
people don't say He was not original, people say that He was the ultimate mix of the best blues singers/guitarists, that's way different
God I love this. Man. And his music❤❤❤❤
A GEM.....KEEP THEM COMING......

They're both playing Strats.
had this album. thief can burn in hell and never get to meet srv in heaven!
3:27
Actually I didnt realize the solo was at the end, sorry! I take back my last comment back!
@1966spartan1 maybe its just the youtube clip
its both
I'd shit myself if I had to play rhythm guit for SRV!
@grovzy1 maybe if you provide a source that comment will have some merit
it's gary willis the bass player
man we lost something when he died.
Letterman needs to work on his damned introductions.... "and the album errrrrr.... over here!!" Then again SRV needs no introduction. R.I.P
Not sure if that is Sid. I think its another guy who looks like Sid McGuiness.
pause at 1:21 lol
what year is this??
nooo.. thats not Billy Sheehan on bass
You skipped the fricking solo!
The fuck happened to the first solo?
Not a single day goes by I don't listen to SRV.
Clearly69 grande
