This desk is incredible. I spent months shopping for a good, BIG desk and they're virtually impossible to find - the few that I found were $4-5k from high end furniture stores. The only problem is this thing is just TOO HEAVY. It makes it really difficult to move around, assemble, and most importantly - do the above without damage. I received mine with damage on the edge - no doubt during manufacture or packaging because the desk is insanely heavy.
I just got the desk yesterday and i love it so far. No annoying cables under my desk and thanks to the XL version i finally have enough space for both of my monitors. The only drawback is that my Accesorie werent shipped yet and the pc mount is to small for my full tower case which is around 67cm in height. What i was the most surprised about was the assembly which was extremly easy and quick with the hardest thing beeing rolling out the magpad with the right allingment.
@@Nades- i have him on a bit over a meter and tested it juust now and its nothing worth mentioning at normal use you wont notice it and i cant increase the hight any further so i cant test for the max heigth. At my current heigth which is 104cm its my screens are slightly shaking while typing otherwise i cant notice anything worth mentioning.
It seems like they're using FedEx Ground for US customers. They're easily the worst when it comes to damage in my experience. SecretLab could mitigate this by changing carriers, changing the labeling on the box (bicycle makers are now rendering TVs on the boxes for this reason), adding giant red "FRAGILE GLASS" labels and the like.
$1000 is premium price? Look at Wyrmwood Modular Desk. Just the basic set up to have a cable management sit stand desk starts between $2424 to $6000 depending if you go xl desk size and wood combination.
One thing I’m disappointed in from Wyrmwood is that their mounting accessories are all delayed to post launch of desk. So now I’m debating on canceling even though it looks nice. The biggest one I’m concerned with was being the CPU mount, which I view as essential with a sit stand desk. I work from home and have a laptop and mid size high end personal PC. Right now my PC sits on a side table next to it, but loose cables are always bugging me as you can’t totally hide it when you leave room for variable desk height points.
Great video! I liked the way you were honest about the cost, likes, and nice-to-haves. Honestly, I'm thinking about upgrading to the Magnus Pro XL from my current setup. The pricing is actually reasonable. I bought my 72"x30" Uplift Desk, with an under-the-desk mount for my pc and it never fit. I also purchased the Humanscale M8 Flex Triple Monitor at the same time. That setup, which I bought back in 2017, cost me $1789! While I'm happy with the monitor arm, the desk shakes a lot at the top height of 44.7" Also, I cannot mount my two pc's under the desk. I love the look of the Magnus Pro XL. Additionally, the functional pc mounts will fit each of my Fractal Design cases. This will help with what is right now a cluttered desk as well as a cable mess. Again, a great review and you've helped me with my wavering decision of whether to upgrade or not.
love the video. Q, what size monitors u had installed in the video (thinking of getting 2 , 32Inch or 2 27 inch ) what do u think, considering the wedth of the desk and the depth of it from the chair is duel 32 inch too large or what ?
question can you stack those monitor arms ? before buying this desk i soon get the monitor arms next month can i stack them like my Vivio monitor stack arm?
Curious if you can use traditional monitor arms to clamp on the back, or do you have to use the secretlabs one? Not sure those would hold my monitor as it's a 38" ultrawide, and my 2nd one is 32"
Can you fit more than one monitor arm? I was thinking of getting this desk but my centre monitor is different from my other 2. That means 3 would work fine?😊
missing drawers... instead of a computer there i need drawers to store things.. Then i would buy one, pretty slick tho.. Will wait for next version hopefully with drawers :D
Just got this for work (not a PC gamer). It's amazing. The only issue I have with the single arm bracket is I can't get it center and far from my face. I can only have it slightly to the left or right when the clamp is in the center
@@kefirmma4765it is a bit wobbly yes probably as much the arms as the desk. And it's also cause you put a lot more weight when standing than when sitting. Either way Im coding fine when standing just have to be a bit more gentle with the keyboard. I don't think you can find heavier, more stable desk. The desk is 60kg!
thanks for the review. Is the power inlet in both legs or only on the left side? How is the desk to use without the pad... since the desk is supposed to be metal, why would I want to use a protective pad!
I got mine less than month ago and it just randomly lost power. It is not an outlet problem, it is a desk problem. 1 month and the power supply already fails, that is a fail.
Does the dual monitor mount work with UWHD monitors? The website says up to 34”, but I want to make sure the arms can split wide enough to accommodate my 34” MSI UWHD monitors.
I was wondering the same thing, from what I have found you can use different monitor arms, just need to be careful how thick the grip is so it doesnt stop the cable management tray closing
Complaining about Secret Labs instead of the company who delivered the desk/chair for the damage to the box it is mind boggling to me people are really getting mad at Secret Labs for that xD
But it's SL who pack the device, and could pack it more securely. It's also SL who hire the delivery company, not the customer. So if you want them to change to a better courier, it's on SL to do so. Complaining about the delivery company doesn't bring about change. You're not their customer.
@@MakeUseOf What do you recommend they make the packaging out of then? Titanium? I've had packages delivered from various different shipping companies. These things happen. Just because you ended up getting busted up packaging and most people I would assume don't is no reason to blast Secret Labs for it. I'm genuinely curious as to what you would want secret labs to do better with their cardboard packaging that won't make it cost hundreds of dollars for the consumer in shipping fees.
@@MakeUseOf There's not much else Secret Lab can do in this case. Its a large heavy package. It will encounter issues with any delivery service. Warehouses and delivery methods arent perfect in regards to package safety, and that's not on Secret Labs.
Secret lab chair depending on softweave model its from 500-700, then roller blade, replacement armrest you've got another 100, lumbar pillow another 80, finally one skin 200, so you've got also the chair with all bells and wisles can go to lowest price + bells and whisles 800, to 1000, or for super luxury ones up to nearly 1400... its by no means a cheap chair either. If you're on a budget, secret labs isn't your to go brand
Yes, you could get a cheaper one with a cheap board/wood like table top, but you can't place any pc mounts under it or monitor mounts! Of course you can just purchase the frame without the table top, but if you want to buy a sturdy table top ,then it's gonna cost you more. If you add up those two items together at the end the price is going to be similar to the Magnus pro! I was also trying to find that cheap/good quality standing desk, but it's quite impossible, there are really no pre made desks as good as this one! If you know one please let me know, I would appreciate to save some money, after all, I'm not rich!

Sadly mine had some minor damage on the edge - the desk just weighs too much.
you can adjust pc mount

Something needs to be done with these shipping companies. There's no reason that a person should ever be walking on packages.

Do you think it would be reasonably easy to put metal screw inserts into the desk (i.e. for a MonsterTech rail setup) ?
How compatible do you think it is with other proprietary monitor arms?
Probably not very compatible due the the cable tray on the bottom of the desk.

Pretty sure each arm supports up to 8kg of weight so it mostly depends on how heavy your monitor is.
