I feel sorry for Mr Moffatt in the interview after his lap, he was under so much pressure to get a Falcon to win the race that year
He did as the factory wanted, and won the race, only to receive $1300 gift bonus for all his troubles, according to his book
The man is a legend, and went through hell. Colin Bond had none of those issues to worry about, and was smart enough to let the boss win at the end of the final lap. Good boy Bondy!

      Compared to what, exactly?
The track looked the same, and the cars sounded just as good, the previous year. It had nothing to do with a television station.
It wasn't until 'racecam' was developed coupla years later, that our broadcasts did anything special.

Bond was told to slow down at the races end to let Moffat, the team principle, take the lead and win. Car 1, and car 2 -- first & second

Removed the Cleveland 351, took it out a mild 60,000 added 800 holly was going with a crossflow delorto carb set up but to pricy and was easy with holly so holly was in reconditioned the top loader and 9 " lowered slightly with heavy springs shocks to set it off nice roll bars 4 wheel discs Over size 12" rear 9" front tyres back in the early 90s my panel van held on to the road. TOTALLY outclassed by the mighty A9X Toranas. By 78 the XC was a dinosaur floating up and down in the front end wallowing around and running out of brakes. Suspension design dating back to the 50s ford flogging a dead horse for years just like Moffat who blindly and arrogantly followed along being rewarded with being dumped by ford management. All stripes no substance all noise no action thrashed at sandown then thrashed at Bathurst by 6 laps a true ford bogan special.

@@ToranaA9X308 yes that’s for sure - Ford had pulled out by 1979 and only 4 or 5 falcons started. Cams refused to allow Ford to run the same system sump that they allowed the Toranas to use .
