@@dennislurvey3235 You might want to review some constitutional law. The laws behind the principle of separation between church and state prevent the state from collecting taxes. The specific food bank I was referring to does not have any source of income. It operates completely on volunteers who help out and donations from the guy who runs it, who supports the operation with his own funds. No one gets paid. They do get some random financial donations, but those just go to pay for gas for the truck that picks up the food. As with many food banks, they are not a big institution with a lot of cash flow.

I worked for Kroger in a FT position, with part of my hiring requirements being Sundays off so I could attend services. My shift buddy also had that, so I worked overnight Sat-Sun and he did Sun-Mon so we could both attend. Well, he left, and the new HR and management decided to screw with my schedule. I reminded them it was part of my hiring, had been OK for years. They kept scheduling me. I used sick time to take Sundays off and had an in person meeting. _They did not have my application and availability paperwork in my file, under the excuse that it was the previous HR lady mismanaging documents._ They claimed all FT personel were required to have open availability, therefore I had to be available to work whenever they scheduled me. I reminded them it was for religious service and practice. They reiterated the requirement for FT was 100% open availability.
I was hired in 2019. I quit 2021 as my college class was re-offered. A store in the PNW. I would have been willing to go to PT, and submitted the paperwork to do so, but it was denied by my manager.
You tell me that wasn't religious discrimination. It was, pure and simple, but they skirted every rule possible so this CEO can look squeaky clean and claim he never fired anyone. Some people can learn new skills. Those positions will fill up fast and then you'll have unemployed, high skilled workers. And when they can't get those position they'll fill lower skill jobs, such as what we're seeing now with teens unable to find starting work but on a countrywide scale.
