Mr. Allison thank you for the proper information on the difference between the Cream and the Wax polish and their proper application , you videos are great Knowledge and though I can hardly afford the very high end well constructed shoes I still love to take the time to care of the ones I own and love it , all the best Sir
Quite informative / analytic video - not only contains much information seeked, but it is also very well structured. Thanks for giving your time to put all this together.
Hello Kirby! Love your work. I live in Alaska where it gets quite dry for much of the year. As a new professional l have began to acquire a sizable collection of calf skin leather shoes/boots. I have enough pairs now that it can take quite a while for a pair to work their way through my rotation before their aesthetic dulls and could use a new regimen of leather conditioner, cream polish, and wax. My question to you is: as a man with a generous collection of shoes how often would you recondition and/or polish if you were in this challenging climate? Thank you sir.
can you do a video explaining the virtues of using a clear polish or clear conditioner and how often to apply? My main "nice" shoes are higher end Italian sneakers such as from Ermenegildo Zegna or Kiton with leather tops and rubber soles.. so I want to keep them like new.
Hi Kirby , wonderful video . I would like to ask if is it suitable to use my saphir mink oil to nourish my leather jackets and briefcase since i dont treat them as often as my shoes. Cheers Kirby , i look forward to see you here in Milan one day for a coffee .
Back in my army days Id just use the kiwi parade gloss edge dressing applacator for my whole boot. Was it good for the leather ? No. But it made them shiny.
Have you taken a hard look at the PurePolish brand, made in Oregon ? I realize they don’t have the heritage of Saphir; however, they have some very enthused clients
Have a lovely pair of shoes hand made in Budapest with a patina on it so how can I use coloured cream polish to get rid of the scratches without destroying or damaging the patina?
What do you use to wash your fingers when done AND when would you use a neutral vs a pigment cream or wax? Your tutorials are fabulous and classy. People do not dress up anymore post covid. I do.
If you’re trying to get a wax off your fingers just run them under hot water for a few seconds. That’ll melt the wax and you’ll be able to wipe it off with a paper towel.
@kirby allison i had a question regarding nourishing crocodile skin shoes. Can i use saphir renovateur and saphir universal leather lotion vs using the saphir reptan creams. Whats the difference between the two and will not using the reptan and using the products i mention harm the leather? And between the universal leather lotion and renovateur which one is the better product to use?
Great informative video Kirby as always. I have a pair whole cut shoes in box calf leather Goodyear welted construction. After few years of use the toes m has started to loose it shape, it has become more rounded than original chisel toe, can you give some advice to restore to its final glory? It is from the brand Loding the model name is Roma and the last would be 348. Thank you and looking forward for your videos
Hi, if the shoes are still quite new with no color loss or scratches, but you want to treat them after a season of wear to maintain a bit of waterproofing and don't require a mirror shine, would only using the Pate de Luxe be sufficient, instead of a combination of 1925 creme and Pate de Luxe?
I conditioned my black leather shoes with saphir renovatour and neutral cream. Then I wore them a couple of days later and noticed white cracking. It rained and it got worse. I’ve been noticing that in shoes after I condition and add neutral cream. If some water gets on top, it forms a white layer where the water was at. Any tips on how to avoid this white layer? Seems like the shoe gets dried out from the water and solvents precipate out.
Can I just you pate Lux for my shoe. I don’t need a mirror shine look but just overall shine. And I polish my shoes one every two weeks or so. Is that too much?
So I recently purchased the loake Hurst boots in burgundy chestnut. I was told only use cream and never to use wax polish on them as it could remove the colour. Do you think the mirror gloss could be used as it has less solvents. Do you have a video covering how to polish this type of leather finish? Thanks for sharing great content and information.
Help, I conditioned and put neutral shoe cream on my light brown shoes, now they are a lot darker. A few Shades could it be I used too much conditioner. I used the bits for Brandon which claims it does not darken or could it have been the neutral shoe cream? Any ideas?
Hi, I've searched on your videos and couldn't find anything about what to wear or boots for using when you live/go to the rural side and suits are not an option. Could you make a video giving us some ideas? I always liked suits but here in the rural side is a sacrilege because they get dirty all the time and most of the times business meetings are more casual or while on family reunion. I'm from Argentina and the most popular shoe in the rural areas are "chinelas" wonder if you can come up with something to combine them.
Since seeing your videos I acquired two new pairs of shoes and started renovating existing pairs using cream and wax polishes (I set up a water sprayer too) and going to town on keeping shoes nice. As I am retired I am not tied to suits shirts ties and shoes these days (excepted on stage with uke band) but Kirby, my late dad always wore suit tie etc in old age and dressed smart. You have sparked by interest and my wife now says I have a shoe fetish ... ... not the persona I seek! My best friend and I have been watching your vids on watches pens etc and dreaming of a different world. My other big Dallas regular views tends to be Dennis Collins and Richard Rawlings on big USA cars. Sorry too much info, but what car do you drive? I guess a Bentley?
Hi Kirby, greetings from Kuala Lumpur.. I purchased a few Saphir cream polish & found that there's some liquid with the same cream color about 10%-15% in the glass jar.. is that normal ? Should I get rid of the liquid or there's a better solution ?
Questions What leather is Best for the highest shine. Cow, horse, dear, rear leather or specials. Bring out the highest and long lasting!!!! Your thoughts on patent leather?
Not sure if it was covered yet, but back in the infantry we used to light our shoe polish with a lighter before we spread it. Is this just an army thing or is there a reason you don't do it?
I am kind of lost. Some say that you have to hydrate shoes after cleaning them with soap and you don't need to apply wax. Here I can read that cream polish also provides kind of a wax that you can polish.
If I may chime in, I'm sure a mirror gloss would look out of place in a casual setting - ex. Jeans, sweater, etc. Then again, style is subjective, and a mirror shine shows you know what you're doing regardless.
wtf, Kirby, you smear a black wax or polish on your fingers (& btw, as always in shirt, tie & suit - the purrfect attire to polish shoes 😎😎😎) & immediately after your fingers are frickin‘ clean???
Unfortunately all of your products are shipped by FedEx only. FedEx drivers are completely blind in my area so your website sales are off limits, to my great disappointment.
Please stop using "exponential" to describe fast growing, if the next value is not dependent on the previous value (a^x, where a is a constant) it's not exponential.
I would frame that sheet on my wall and just admire it. Colors are lovely, and it's not a bad reference guide.
Thank you, Mr. Allison.
You're very welcome!
Excellent amount of high quality info, delivered clearly and quickly. Well done Kirby!

I appreciate that!

I bought the cream and polish it has made a huge difference in my shoe shine regime
Kirby, excellent tutorial. I feel absolutely satisfied with this content.
Nice, an old school Kirby video!
Thanks for the valuable information, Mr. Allison!

Use Bick (it is a brand) instead for large items. It is 90% as good as Saphir but costs much lesser.

2:59 kirby didn't just use any random pencil or pen to scribble those words on that paper. no sir, he used one of his fine fountain pens of course.
Can i use neutral wax and neutral cream on leather shoes. Please answer my question. Thanks!
I should use a hoursebrush after applying the shoe cream to make it more shiny?
Can you use both? Like the cream then the wax? Or only use the cream for a touch up?

It won’t remove the colour, try a lighter shade of wax polish.
How would you compare the Médaille d'Or pommadier cream polish to the Saphir surfine cream polish?
clear or black polish cream? if my shoes are brown, black?

Tell me about the fountain pen.
Can we use the saphir natural mirror gloss for every color of dress shoe? Or is it only for a specific color?

As an old army airborne solder I could get a patent leather look with good old spit and Kiwi and elbow grease.
Stunning edit
When should you use pure leather conditioner since polish has some conditioner in it.
It probably depends on what condition the shoe is in?
I use it on a completely "dry" shoe that I don't want to change the color of or put a shine on yet
Great explanation. Thank you.

What leather is Best for the highest shine. Cow, horse, dear, rear leather or specials. Bring out the highest and long lasting!!!!
Your thoughts on patent leather?
Any smooth leather. But generally calf or Cordovan
Not sure if it was covered yet, but back in the infantry we used to light our shoe polish with a lighter before we spread it. Is this just an army thing or is there a reason you don't do it?
It burns off some of the solvent leaving more of the hard wax- gets that nice mirror shine
can we use pat de luxe on unlined loafers? it is relatively soft and i am afraid it will crack since there are no hard surface.
You could get away w one application

Hi. When you say “One or two applications of cream polish” is it:
Add layer. Buff... Add second layer... buff.
Or add two layers. Buff.
What site can I order from Nigeria

I accidentally came across this video, which answered all my questions
10:35 i don't think the question on how long they last was actually answered
It all really depends on how they’re stored
Fan from India but saphir products are very costly in india to shine my shoe
👍👍👍
Hey Kirby, do you think there is ever a situation in life where you SHOULDN'T mirror gloss your shoes?
If I may chime in, I'm sure a mirror gloss would look out of place in a casual setting - ex. Jeans, sweater, etc.
Then again, style is subjective, and a mirror shine shows you know what you're doing regardless.

Put couple of drop of coconut oil on your shoes to hydrate , also your shoes will shine naturally like new And thanks me later 😊
