Thanks! This is super helpful. We are considering switching to Simply Charlotte Mason from a classical curriculum so I’m trying to get a feel for the change!

CM’s principles are just amazing. Short lessons, variety and alternating types of learning, narration, natural progression in speaking, reading, and writing!

Another reason why i delved into CM style of learning. Math and phonics are pretty traditional but other than that we read living books.

Love this. We use SCM and love it for pretty much all our subjects. 🥰 I've pulled my own CM some years but it's nice to have a spine like SCM or Mystery of History especially when you have multiple kiddos. I have six. Graduated one and my next one will be starting his last year of homeschooling. I love the family style learning and we have done that all the way through. It creates great memories and bonds with the kids. Have a blessed school year. Can't wait to see your individual subjects 🥰

Yay! We love it too! Plus it breaks up reading out loud, which is fun and entertaining for all of us!

We are dipping further into CM this year as well! I can’t wait to hear your update of how it fits into your family, what your kids enjoy vs don’t, and what resources are the most impactful to implement first. ☺️

When you are focusing on wildflowers or the other things you mentioned for nature study, what will that look like, exactly? Will you be going outdoors to look for wildflowers, reading books about them, or something else?

This is a great question! Maybe I can do a "LIVE" nature study! ❤️ yes! We look up the flowers, nuts and trees in our nature guides and draw something we observe! :)

@@hannahgravelle Thank you. Sounds like I need to buy more field guides (I think that's what you mean). We have one for birds, but returned the insect and mammals guides to the library. Never thought about getting a guide for nuts/seeds. Somehow I thought focusing on one thing per term would be more complicated! One of those mental blocks.

Oops, you said nuts and trees, not seeds. Makes total sense to get one for trees. Thanks!

Well for example we found some nuts on our walk so we looked them up in our tree book 😍 I've been finding my guides on thriftbooks.com!
