I drove the boat for 8 years after PDS sold her. We took her back to Norway to Fredrikstad and what a warm welcome we received Through out our 2 summers in Norway we meet old crew and people the ship had saved in its short career as a rescue ship. The duel controls you talk about on the bridge are not duel controls Each set has 1 throttle and 1 gear shift leaver, and they were always polished so you could see your face in them. Two transatlantic voyages plus 1000's of miles in-between 13 foot draft is an issue No bow thruster and a barn door size rudder make her fun to drive all that said I never felt safer on a boat even when knocked over nearly 40 degrees in an Atlantic storm of the Azores (she has a 98 degree recovery angle)
If I could afford a vessel like this, I wouldn’t change anything inside. It has an old world elegance and charm that is unmatched today. I love the deep sea design that could take you anywhere in the world and master rough seas. On top of everything else, it sounds like there are some great stories about its history.
Why buy it if your going to change it. The only change may be electronic upgrades. I might want to add some overhead protection from sun in bow area where table is.
Love the interiors! I also love the hull style and overall look of this vessel. I would be proud to call this yacht home. Thanks for showing us another great ship.
Absolutely gorgeous and I'll bet everything is over engineered as lifeboats generally are. The only thing I'd change is the engines. Those dreadful screaming detroits out and 2 Gardner 8lx's in their place. Perfection!!
Wouldn't change anything. Old world classic decor. From an age before vulgar nouveau riche and distasteful showing off. Quiet, elegant, whispers comfort and timeless life at ease.
She is named after the city in Norway that raised the money to pay for her to be built You change the name you lose a large part of her history The city is very proud of her I know I took the boat there and what great crowds of people we had
R/S 77 "Fredrikstad" is a former lifeboat that was built for the Rescue Company in 1968 at Smedvik Mek. Verksted AS in Tjørevåg. Until 1988, "Fredrikstad" was in service as a lifeboat and rescued 11 people from "certain death", 11 vessels from total sinking, and provided assistance to a total of 623 vessels.
I've seen a couple of these conversions, beautiful ships, but it's going to be hard to find many parking spaces for an almost 12 ft draft. There was 1 for sale in Maine a few years ago, was on the market for a very long time before it sold or the owner gave up. Just not a lot of harbors or marinas to handle that draft unless you want pay super yacht type fee's. That's a pretty tight niche vessel. Never the less it is a very nice vessel and I would feel secure in it!
This vessel is a delight to see. Very rugged, & most definitely a great sea boat. Trawler hull high bow rise & lots of freeboard. A bit too much reflection on interior . but beautiful craftmanship . I am sure reasonable cost to operate . She is beautiful. Tks for the vid.
Love the boat, and the combination of classic and new. Regarding the engine controls, are you sure those are mirrored? It looked more like old school shift and throttle controls for each of the two engines.⚓⚓
⚓ This boat is very much my style. Not sure if I would change a thing. Interesting camera magic though. I swear it looks a lot bigger inside than out. I wish I knew more like crew accommodations. ⚓
We had 4 crew 1 Double bed small hanging locker and 4 draws for cloths The was a door into the engine room and a mother into a small space with a door into the head and one into the other crew cabin with 2 bunkbeds also there was a vertical ladder up to the aft deck NO port holes Small and cosy The original spaces where for dry food storage etc
Thank you for showing off this great Vessel. YOU my friend keep it getting better at showing great long Range vessels. The two huge hooks with large wheel brakes are real working vessel type The wheel house with the double prop control is a work of ART. I Love Detroit Diesel, have two myself, a (353) and (8-V-71) plug them both in, keeping the Engine warm. They start A+. I would buy her if I had the money just because she is powered by Detroit. I know them inside and out.
She's beautiful the interior is impeccable, to change it would be a bad move maybe a galley stove upgrade or freezer if needed for world voyages. Shes a beautiful ship.
Truly a beautiful exploration vessel and a boat I would much prefer over any Superyacht of similar size. This boat's biggest downfall to me would be it's Draft. Way to many reefs and shallow waterways between islands where I live. Those V8 Detroits would like a drink at w.o.t.

Much thx for the guy who knows the ship. Love to see more of your experience.
Wow - its a small world on TH-cam! Thanks for the info 🙌🫡
Mr. Naylor, if you were to buy her, what modifications would make before setting off again to Norway or points beyond?
Hi Andy, I worked on board for only a few months with my wife Leigh. I'm Kiwi Brett. Quit right after 911. Hope you're well.
Will never forget the July 4th incident in the east river new York. OMG.
I love everything about this yacht. The vintage interior married to a rugged industrial ship is beautiful. I wouldn't change a thing.

This vessel has exquisite design and decor. When on a ship, I want to feel I'm on a ship.
100% - thanks for watching!

She has _very_ Edwardian vibes, décor-wise.
Nothing needs changing. Nautical fitting and decor of a ship or boat is the way for me. Thank you.
This ship is so beautiful! I wouldn't change a thing! I Have seen this video so many times and I dream having her and travel around the world.
These are just about my favorite type of vessels. Rugged go anywhere types. I love'em
You are in good company here 🙌
What an opportunity to have such a well built and designed watercraft.
What a lovely little gem of a ship! I wouldn't change a thing.
Thanks for watching 🫡
Love the interiors! I also love the hull style and overall look of this vessel. I would be proud to call this yacht home. Thanks for showing us another great ship.

A very tasteful conversion. The electronics on the bridge are integrated very well. I also like the desk in the saloon.
That is probably the nicest motor yacht I've seen. What a beauty! Thanks for the tour.

I love pretty much everything about this vessel! Just utterly classy and understated.
I had a feeling my viewers would love this boat 🫡

Interior has a very cozy atmosphere. I love it

I've long noticed this vessel. Such a magnificent ship with such a history.
Indeed it is!
No changes needed. Gorgeous.
Absolutely stunning. Don't change anything please❤
Brilliant looking boat with a great history. The price is also excellent value.
Absolutely gorgeous and I'll bet everything is over engineered as lifeboats generally are. The only thing I'd change is the engines. Those dreadful screaming detroits out and 2 Gardner 8lx's in their place. Perfection!!
A truly magnificat yacht. Love the interior.
Have a weakness for old school nautical vib! Don’t change a thing, except for additional electronics in the wheel house. I like the yacht!
I keep coming back to this video, I think that I'm in luv with this vessel
🙌🫡
1968, the year I joined the British Royal Navy. Would love to sail out of this world on such a beauty!

Wouldn't change anything. Old world classic decor. From an age before vulgar nouveau riche and distasteful showing off. Quiet, elegant, whispers comfort and timeless life at ease.
Like a Princess in Knights armor! beautiful and strong!!!!
I wouldn’t change a thing. Love it, real class Interior 👍
🙌
In a word, beautiful
I still have the Showboats magazine which had a feature article on her when she was converted by PDS. What a fantastic ship.
The perfect vessel stunning inside and outside

LOVE !!!! The interior this is how ships should look like, great job more like this please.
Thank you! Will do!
If I were asked to envision the perfect boat for me, this would be it.
This ship is so beautiful, definitly my favorite style
What a great vessel. It is beautiful and functional.
It really is!
Like this one, Looks like a ship inside and out, decent range at decent speed for global travel,
Gorgeous, Gorgeous Vessel!!!
I wouldn't change a thing. Beautiful just like she is.
She's perfect. Wouldn't change a thing other than the name.
She is named after the city in Norway that raised the money to pay for her to be built You change the name you lose a large part of her history The city is very proud of her I know I took the boat there and what great crowds of people we had
A beautiful yacht, classic interior and so safe
🙌
Those classic lines 😍
The only thing I would change is some of the artwork. Perfect boat!
She is stunning if I win powerball tomorrow ……she is mine
Propper little ship 👍
I wouldn,t change anything, it is a beautiful vessel.
Oh how I wish I had the 850k, I'd buy this vessel in heartbeat
They did a wonderful job. Crazy if anyone would change her.
I would not change much she’s a beautiful boat.
Like the outside seating, a very good design and idea, it would be nice to see similar on other motor explorer yachts too!

I don’t know why you refer to her as a ‘lifeboat’ when she is a rescue boat?
@@Mr.Monta77 The term lifeboat is commonly used to describe shore stationed vessels.
Classic old Norwegian Rescue boat that served many years in Norway before it was sold out.
It is great to see such an iconic boat - one that must of saved so many lives - still sailing the seven seas
The boat is lovely wouldn't change anything its a grand boat

Yep. That's one hell of a draft, I wonder if that's a mistake.
The draft is correct. She is a sight to behold out of water.

👏Fantastic 👏

I would change those curtains and place a gyro stabilisator
