I met Olajuwon once. This was around ‘88 or ‘89. We were in the same doctor‘s office. I was about to leave while he was coming in. He was having his knee checked out, and I was on crutches having a torn ligament in my ankle looked at. I looked at him and calmly said, “Hello Hakeem”, and he looked at me with a big smile and said, “Unbeatable!” We both laughed, and he went to see the doctor while I left. That’s it. Hakeem was extremely down to earth and friendly.

At the time I worked for an American multinational and was for business in Houston. Being European and not familiar with basketball I got an invitation from a colleague to watch the match that evening. At the end one of the players got a standing ovation and I learned later this guy scored a quadruple double, apparently the second time in NBA history. Sometimes you get a lucky break.

But a lot of people dont think all categories should be weighed equally, and Im not sure they should be weighed equally myself. But it is an interesting concept. And him getting one of the few quadruple doubles in history definitely reflects the findings of the study.

This is the greatest player of all time! 2 quadruple doubles, closest player to record a quintuple double! Only player to record 200+ blocks and 200+ steals(he's a center), and the only player in history to retire in the top 10 in 5 different categories. Points, rebounds, fg %, blocks, and steals. No other center comes within the top 35 of all time in steals

Larry Bird was one steal away from a quadruple double. But when they asked if he wanted to go back in the game, he said "No, I've done enough damage." That's epic. Also, one of Hakeem's quadruple doubles was rescinded. He only has one officially.

Rox had a hell of a team in the late 80s. Wiggins and Lloyd coming back from 2 year drug suspensions really improved their back court, unfortunately sweet Lou got fat andnever regained his former self. what could have been, sigh...

McCarney 420 I see Hakeem in Joel a lot too. I don’t think he’s as gifted with quickness as Hakeem was, but he might be a little stronger.

Joel Embiid does not move like Olajuwon, and footwork not as polished and not as quick or agile whatsoever. Plus, Hakeem is way better on both ends of the floor and better conditioned athlete.
