But he was slow and unathletic... compared to what he was at his prime. Compared to other players, he was still a top 10 in the league and a All-Star starter. That just show how amazing he was. Each season he played for the Wizard they went from 25 in attendance to 2nd once he put that Jersey on mind you the team went from 19-63 to 37-45. He made money for the Wizards and that alone is a success. Anyone that had championship expectations out of MJ as a Wizard probably has low IQ. If Jordan a 6 time NBA champion was so desperate for another championship I’m sure he would of joined Kobe and shaq’s Lakers, Iverson’s 76ers, Could of rejoined his former teammate Pippen in Portland or even Webber’s And Divac’s kings. Again Jordan as a Wizard was a success.
I loved MJ's stint with the Wizards, he had nothing more to prove as far as winning goes and was just playing for the love of the game, but he proved that he can still play at the elite level and at the level he always has. Only enhanced his legacy by doing this, didn't embarrass himself at all. A once in a lifetime athlete that'll never be duplicated.
MJ was getting everything back ( Prime Chicago days version ), and the Wizards were playing very well because of it. Then MJ got hurt from a freak accident. Still bothers me to this day that MJ had that bad luck injury, and didn't get 1 last deep playoff run with the Wiz. Even a 40 year old MJ was able to be a top 10 player if healthy. So yeah, he's the G.O.A.T.
The Bible says in John 3:16-36 that whoever believes in the Lord Jesus Christ shall not perish but have everlasting life, the Bible also says in Romans 10:9 that those who declare with their mouth that Jesus Christ is their God, Lord, and Savior they shall be saved. Revelation 1:8 says that Jesus is the alpha and the omega. Luke and revelation is the ending times, and Jesus is returning back. So are you going to submit your life to him or no? Narrow is the path that leads to the gates of heaven, but only few people find it. The gates that is the path to destruction is where many people find it! Jesus loves you SO MUCH! Jordan was an MVP candidate and playing as good as anybody in the NBA before his injury in that first season with the Wizards. He carried that Wizards team that only won 18 games the season before
I saw Jordan on his first game coming back from his baseball related retirement vs. the Atlanta Hawks. Had a really good seat too so I got to watch him a few rows back from the court create plays, hit shots, make steals, rebounds, everything... He actually won the game at the buzzer too. Jordan did a fist pump and Scottie Pippen laughed and shook his head. The crowd went nuts (even though this game was in Atlanta - didn't matter). It was incredible and you could not have written a better ending. I knew at the time it was special and will always remember it.
MJ was the best defender, best leader, best finisher (at the rim), best trash talker/intimidator, had the best post game and had the best midrange game....at once. Incredible. I think only 7 times has a player lead the league in scoring and won the finals MVP .....he did 6 of those 7
Imagine Bird in today's game with the big focus on 3's. Bird was one of the great 3 point shooters in history but played in an era where it was more of an afterthought. He only averaged 1.9 three point shots a game in his career. Compare that to Stephen Curry who averages 8.8 a game & has averaged over 10 a game for the last 8 seasons or so. Would he be averaging as much as Curry? No, because Bird had a really strong midrange game & could take it to the hoop, but he might have been putting up 5, 6, 7 a game. MJ & Bird had very similar games as well, if you just watch how they move around the court off the ball, back down defenders, & their shot selection. Very, very similar. In fact, sometimes I wonder whether Jordan modelled his game on Bird's they're that similar, & he did seem to be in awe of him when he spoke about him. And before anyone jumps down my throat, that doesn't mean that Jordan isn't greater or whatever, it's just that Bird came first & when you watch how similar their games are (seriously, go watch some Bird highlights & compare them), it does make you wonder.
Yea he was still bonafide legit scorer in Washington. Just nowhere near as efficient as he used to be due to age and injuries. You see a similar trend with most hall of fame guards when they get in their late 30’s. They take a big dip in efficiency
First time seeing him play live (Christmas gift). 12 years old…Knowing how competitive Michael was, I knew he’d bounce back after the previous game against Indiana. Never in my life did I expect to see this. A moment I will never ever forget 😊🏀
I went to that game and I can vividly remember the roar of the arena when he scored his last shot that took his game point total from 49 to 51 pts. Man, what a joy that was!
I feel like MJ could’ve played more seasons with the wizards if he never hurt his knee during this season. That injury really messed him up his 2nd year back with Washington. He was just getting back in nba shape. The guy was a straight up beast.
To most players averaging 23 points a game and 5 assists is considered all-star numbers. But for a 38 year old Jordan, compared to his younger years, it is actually considered a down year. Just incredible.
Well that’s why players who score 50+ on average attempt less shots. The mathematics don’t lie. If you can shoot the 3 efficiently you ahould increase the volume of 3 pnt shots. Jordan was a bad 3 pnt shooter, and if you remove the periods when the 3 pnt line got closer, he wasn’t justified to take 3s
@@federalfreemoneylackofrese9937 🌝MJ shot 33% from 3 in regular season And playoffs and 37% from 3 in the Finals. That doesn’t even remotely qualify as “bad “. LeBron has never done this. •the lowest FT% MJ ever shot in a season was 78%. Lebrons highest in a season ever is 78%. •MJ has a higher playoff FG% of 48.7% to Lebrons 48.3% •MJ has a higher playoff player efficiency rating of 28.6 to Lebrons 27.3. •MJ shoots a higher playoff 3 point percentage of 33.2% to Lebrons 32.9% •MJ also shocked the league by being the first (and only) player to have 100 blocks and 200 steals in the same season, then turned around and did it again the next year.. The manner in which MJ picked his shots really highlights his basketball IQ. He was able to conserve and sustain energy through the entire game because of his efficient and lethal approach, thus ensuring the demise of the Hornets.
I was in high school when MJ came back with the Wizards and man was I so excited. He clearly wasn't the player he used to be, but every once in awhile he had that spring in his step and he looked the way he looked his last couple years in Chicago (like he was 34 instead of 38). Those nights were exciting as hell and he had this way of dominating the game and getting off his shot from anywhere on the floor, no matter who was guarding him. Best midrange scorer ever, and the guy wasn't always shooting contested jumpers like Kobe.

•MJ shoots a higher playoff 3 point percentage of 33.2% to Lebrons 32.9%
•MJ also shocked the league by being the first (and only) player to have 100 blocks and 200 steals in the same season, then turned around and did it again the next year..
Seriously this list can keep going. This isn't even a debate. Mj is the GOAT.
Michael in only ELEVEN complete seasons with the Bulls:
-10 STRAIGHT scoring titles,
-Won Defensive Player of the Year,
-9 times all defensive team,
-9time All NBA,
-5 league MVPs
-6 finals MVPs
LBJ missed the playoffs completely in his first 2 years. Jordan didnt with scrubs on his squad. Jordan played 82 games 9 times in his career once at 40. LBJ only played 82 games once. In 89 Jordan won the scoring title all star MVP slam dunk title regular season MVP and Defensive Player of The year something LBJ has never done. Jordan also averaged 41 pts a game for an entire Finals shootimg 50% and won. Something else LBJ never did.
All 11 seasons. Mj has done in 11 seasons things Lebron hasn’t done and won’t do in his whole career...
And before you criticize me for copy and pasting just know that it doesn’t matter if it’s copied or not, truth is truth.
Check Mate.
Get this crap out of here Jordan got swept in the damn play offs 2x.
MJ is 1/9 in the Play Offs!!! LeBron is 3/9 in the finals! I rather lose in the finals any day then to get swept in the play offs!!
LeBron James Overall points scored 31090 points/Assist 8200/8400
MJ Overall points 32200/Assist 5600/ Rebound 6600
LeBron blows all MJ stats away in the Finals/ Playoffs.
LBJ was regular season MVP 1 less time than MJ but will get 2 more for sure to pass him up. LBJ is all NBA first team 2x more than MJ. Overall LeBron James is better overall basket ball player, u can hate all u want bruh. MJ was a straight assassin i'll give him that & a pure scoring machine but there's more to the game than that. Same time played & LBJ been to the finals 3x more than MJ. When or Lose he lives in the NBA finals for more than Half of his time playing in the NBA.

Man 38 years MJ before the injury was still good, he even one of MVP candidates, Wizards was on the way to the playoffs, they even beat LA, NYJ and other top seed, too bad MJ got injured and never the same against after the injury.

The manner in which MJ picked his shots really highlights his basketball IQ. He was able to conserve and sustain energy through the entire game because of his efficient and lethal approach, thus ensuring the demise of the Hornets.
Thanks to his IQ also up to this day he's still destroying the hornets from the inside
That’s why kawhi similar
& he played lockdown defense not like OTHERS that only play offense
Kawhi and Kd watch his tapes that’s why they are very efficient
Good lord, thats a lot of jargon. "Thus ensuring the demise"? Cmon, man...
He had a way of keeping his defender off balance with a nudge this way, a step that way, and suddenly he went from being guarded to having a few feet of daylight to get off a shot. A literal wizard on the court.
Kobe is so overrated. Shot a low percentage his whole career. Had to put up 35 shots to get his points.
@@ebogar42 people like you is why NBA 'analytics' suck ass

Greatest basketballer on earth. Thank you making me love this game.
Dude MJs game in Washington was so aesthetically pleasing. Such beautiful pull-ups and post moves.

Yeah
I honestly believe Jordan would’ve had a possible playoff run with this terrible team if he didn’t get injured
No question. I remember they beat the Kings (who were legit title contenders that year) right before the all-star break and they were like 5 or 6 games over .500. And then after the all-star break everything fell apart, including MJ's knee.
now imagine if MJ joined the Lakers and came off the bench as their 6th man since phil was there..probably gets a 3rd 3peat under his belt but the real GOAT would never do that
@@vanguardas9927 There was no way he’d come off the bench. He was the 3rd leading scorer in the NBA at one point, behind only Kobe and Tim Duncan. No 26 ppg scorer is coming off the bench. If he went to the Lakers Phil likely would have used him primarily in the post as a SF and then had Kobe guard whoever was the better scorer between the other teams SG and SF. But to your point, that would have been a ridiculously good team, especially because MJ wouldn’t have had to carry the load. So he would’ve had less wear and tear and been a bit more of a high post player and spot up shooter.
@@MDAce150 true, he did play SF with the Wizards...that would've been more likely to happen knowing MJ

Old past prime wizards Mike lighting up the league in this way to me shows his game definitely would’ve carried over to the LeBron and Kobe era and he’d own that era too. He was just too good
MJ was dunking on 3 people when the league had big men like Shaq, Robinsn, Hakeem, Patrick, Alonzo, Barkley, Malone etc. guarding the paint. Now you have Draymond fkin' Green playing Center? with no handchecking? Pfft. MJ would EAT in this era.
Just think if he was 28 yrs old in that game, NBA opponents better thank God that men age
So is this still "plumbers" he playing against? Because these are the same dudes Allen Iverson, McGrady, Vince Carter, and Kobe played against.
That plumber argument seems to be the most untrue statement about a sports player I've ever heard. Just imagine Mike at 25.
It doesn't matter who he's playing against. He's gonna be Jordan in any era.
jaymiles81 you didn’t hear the stats at the beginning of the game did you?
@@jerryalamo3 You mean the part where he went 866 games without scoring below 10 pts. until after a 3 year lay off, and turning 38. Only to respond with a 51 point performance (24 of that in the first 1st quarter) with basically none of his athleticism left?? Yeah I heard it.
JerryA1 Jordan shot 52% for his career in a bulls uniform with 9 defensive teams, 10 scoring titles and 6 finals mvps. LeBron is bigger, faster, stronger, the better passer/playmaker, and he even has a higher career 3-point percentage.
And is trash defensively... besides a few chase down blocks. Lebron also goes to the other side of the court every time KD gets the ball cuz he wants no parts of it. Go look at Jordans stats, awards etc. on the defensive end compared to lebron.
He was only 3 and a half years removed from his last championship, so it should not have been surprising that he was still capable of this kind of performance from time to time.
