- The new Utah NHL team does not have a name yet and it might be a while before it has one.

He just patented those to use until a permanent name can be chosen. Ryan talked more about that in a different interview

I’ve been obsessed with the Utah Raptors name.
It will not be Raptors. The name is already used/trademarked by an ownership group that owns both the NBA Raptors and the NHL Maple Leafs.
@@KP-wt8qr While I haven't checked the actual trademark filings I don't think MLSE have ownerships of "Raptors", just "Toronto Raptors" and the branding. In this case the trademark would be "Utah Raptors" after teh actual Utahraptor with what I would have unique logos and coloring. There are and have been multiple major leage teams named Eagles, Oilers, Lions, Bears and so on.
@@TheSettlingTheWestShow Yes but you would have to admit, Raptors is rather unique in the sense that no other pro sports team is named after a dinosaur. Yes there are multiple Eagles, Lions, Bears, Kings, Panthers, Jets etc but those are kinda generic names. It would be like there being 2 teams named Lakers. It would definitely be unoriginal to start using it imo.

I hate that they won't have a name right away. I think it's really stupid. Even if they have a name but then don't have branding, and use a Utah jersey, that's fine. But at least give us a name in the next few months.

Impossible because the Tuscon Road Runners are the minor league AHL affiliate team to the Arizona Coyotes, and will be the affiliate team to the new Utah franchise going forward

@@TokyoAlexbecause the most creative franchise in terms of branding and logos already uses that name, and what made It even better is that the Coyotes and Roadrunner are obviously nemesis in cartoons but it was there AHL affiliate. Utah won't be able to be half as creative.
I was just looking at photos from the old Salt Lake Golden Eagles hockey team, it would be cool if the city made a pitch for the A’s and named the hockey team Golden Eagles and had the same colors for each team like the Steelers, Penguins and Pirates.

If they go with Yeti it has to be SINGULAR! If they wait I think that’s okay as they could just go very generic with Utah H.C. I have heard they would like continuity with the Jazz colors which would be cool.

Here is my top 5- Cobras, Venom, Outlaws, Scorpions, Rattlers. This is hockey. You need a tough team name. Hockey is a violent sport.
Utah Rage, Black Bears, Storm, Eagles, Blizzard. Picking a name for Utah is going to be tough, whatever it is. People are going to hate it haha.
I like Grizzlies the most but it’s taken.
I don’t like Yeti because the Avanlanche kind of already have used yeti feet. I also don’t like CH, as that is Montreal’s thing.

I'm a stan for Utah Olympians, got mount Olympus here, it's the international hub for winter Olympics training. Plus with the Olympics coming in 2034 and talks of slc becoming a permanent host, it just fits too well.

Eagles = generic. Blizzard = too much like avalanche. Raptors = already being used by Toronto in NBA, not unique enough.

Call them the Utah Golden Eagles or just the Utah Eagles in honor of the team that played in Salt Lake for so long as well as a nod to the short lived St. Louis Eagles who played in the NHL for only one season in 1934-35.

How about the Salt Lake Brynamite(s) [or Brine-O-Might(s)!], from "brine" + "dynamite"? After all, hockey is played with sticks and there's the now famous sports expression "Boom goes the dynamite."
I think that the new name should have "Salt Lake" in it since there's already the Utah Jazz and (per Utah House Bill 562, or U-FAIR Bill) any new baseball team would be committed to having "Utah" in its name. Besides, any new hockey rink would be built in the Capital City Revitalization Zone, which is to be paid for with SLC sales tax (per Utah Senate Bill 272).

If they don’t have a team name by the beginning of next season, they will definitely blow it & lose a lot of possible fans! It should not take an entire season to pick a name! But then again, this is Utah and they can’t even spell or say people’s names normally! This isn’t soccer, we don’t need an HC or Hockey Club! But leave it to Utahns to make something simple complicated!

Hey Bobbi, did ya hear? The Utah hockey club took over 20,000 deposits for season tickets within a few hours after officially announcing the move. The Delta arena when configured for hockey can seat 14,000. 20,000 deposits means they most likely sold out without having a name, without having a logo, without having a mascot, and without even playing one single game. Yeah. I guess the guy with access to 1.2 billion dollars has a bit more knowhow about how this stuff works, but thanks for warning them that that will lose fans... lololol When will the wokie kids realize what they know just isn't so?!
