The fact that they already sold more season ticket deposits is wild . Shoutout to the fans of AZ though

I wish Ryan Smith and all the fans in Utah. As a Coyotes fan, I'm heart broken that my team is leaving, but I'm excited to see these players thrust into greatness in a new venue. I hope these great players put their time in Arizona behind them and look forward to a newer, greater experience than what they had in the valley. WELCOME TO UTAH
Even though the Delta Center in its current configuration can only hold 10,000-12,000 fans for hockey, that’s still significantly more than the Coyotes had at Mullett Arena. In addition, the state of Utah has already approved legislation to either renovate Delta Center to NHL standards or build a new arena suitable for both basketball and hockey, whereas a new arena in Phoenix is still a huge “maybe.”
Hope Utah is a real player in free agency. They could easily be the most improved team next season!

Becareful eeh, b/c of the NHL Jets will future relocate from Winnipeg to Houston; Kansas City; Milwaukee; or Indianapolis.

Kansas City didn't want the Penguins. Houston and Indianapolis don't want a team.

Indianapolis will renovate its sports arena upon both NBA & NHL specifics. Houston has now NBA Rockets owner, who is interested to lure an future NHL team maybe the NHL Jets. I wish the Utah Saints the best of luck.
This is almost like karma. Phoenix / Arizona did this to Winnipeg back in 1996. Winnipeg had fans supporting their team . The NHL will not be going back to Arizona unless a new arena is built and they have new ownership
How about blame the old Jets ownership for not being competent? Phoenix didn’t do anything to take the Jets.
@@andrewheitmeyer9945 that might be true, but Winnipeg lost their team due to having a old arena and the exchange rate between the Canadian and U.S. dollar. That is the same reason Quebec lost the Nordiques. Winnipeg and Quebec did not play in college hockey arenas nor did they take large player contracts. Arizona got their team through relocation, got kicked out of two NHL arena for non payment for the lease and Arizona made no attempt to improve the team. This sounds like the NHL version of the Oakland A’s. Arizona lost their team to incompetent ownership. Now Meruello wants to build a new arena and entertainment district in Reno to bring in a minor league hockey team. As quietly as seems, his endgame is to get that arena built in Reno and relocate the Tucson Roadrunners there. To me, hockey is dead in Arizona. Meruello doesn’t have enough money to build a new arena in Reno and Arizona without public support. Arizona hockey fans deserve better

Coyotes fans know that it wasn’t Smiths fault. He is getting a great team and far better than any expansion team would be. The Coyotes front office has done an incredible job of getting draft picks and prospects. The young guns on this team will be great. There are no bad contracts and tons of flexibility to create a great team. I have no doubt that Utah will have a playoff team next year. That is why Coyotes fans are so hurt, it was supposed to be our team. Meruelo gave away everything that is the Coyotes, and is only keeping the name and logo. Congratulations Utah you made out like bandits, make the most of it.

They need purple as a main 💜 color 💯
I remember when the Jazz moved from New Orleans. I was astounded when they kept the name. When you think Jazz, you really don't think Salt Lake City.
As far as the yotes. There are a number of reasons they were doomed to fail when they came from Winnipeg.
Why did they not do whatever it would take to keep the hall of famer Teemu Selanne? Instead they unloaded him just prior for the cash flow.
After a short stay downtown at an arena that was not the best for hockey, they decided on Glendale. Far west of the hockey demographic that predominantly lives in the east valley. All the folks who transplanted from Chicago or Michigan and including as far upper Midwest as Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba seem to have mostly landed in Mesa, Scottsdale, Chandler, A J. and Gilbert. Season ticket holder ship dropped every year since the move to Glendale. On a week night, for a 7 p.m. puck drop, the drive over on I-10 was a big factor in people not renewing. Brutal, right in the middle of rush hour. If there was an accident, you're not going to make the national anthem.
If you announced that there would be an international friendly soccer match featuring Mexico and Honduras, next Tuesday at State farm Stadium, you could sell 70,000 tickets no problem. Hockey? Not so much with the west side.
They experimented with the Great One as coach for a bit. Great player, not a great coach. Just ask yourself this question, why didn't he continue coaching? Hence, experiment.
Lastly, in a lot of native American mythology, the Coyote is the Charlie Brown of the animal kingdom. Uncannily like the Warner Bros character Wile E. See for reference, Coyote stories, a compilation of the stories our Navajo grandfathers would tell us when we were kids. In taking that name to begin with, they may have cursed the whole endeavor. Just saying. Not that hockey players would have any eccentric superstitions.

I hope not, it at least they have actual plans and funding to build a hockey arena unlike Arizona. They have already been given $900 million in funding to build a new arena. Smith has talked about plans to build an arena dedicated to hockey and using the delta center as a temporary arena for the team.
