I'll give the game this... some of the suits were dope, and Carnage admittedly looked pretty cool.
The carnage assets, such as the symbiote props and its model, are reused from Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions, and some of the suits are from that game as well (plus TASM1 and Edge of Time), so take this as you will.

Even if the games not that good, this game is still a major part of my childhood and it holds a special place in my heart. the Carnage boss fight at the end blew my 9 year old mind.

You forgot to add that no matter how many missions you do to get your heroic bar up, the story missions drop it back down to 3 bar menace for story reasons.

Its a shame because the idea they had for the Web Swinging mechanics could've been great if they implemented it properly and added more depth to it

Honestly imo the first TAMS game was absolutely bussin, only let down imo was the somewhat weak story (I still liked it but I see why others don’t) and most of all the web swinging. Web rush was a damn good idea though, would love for that to make a proper return one day

Like you get to decide if Spiderman swings from the left or right, so ? You can't add depth (I mean maybe you can but I really don't know how) to that
Either there's no buildings on one side so obviously you're gonna swing on the other or there's building on both side so it doesn't matter. Even if they made the swinging better, it's just a gimmick and at the end of the day it's doesn't change much besides deciding on which side the animation is going to play
The one good idea (that was already in TASM1) is web rush, it's still pretty cool but yeah not much player input during it sadly, I think the ledge system in Insomniac's is a good middle ground

I'm sure this game was decent when it came out but with the combination of it aging horribly and insomniac doing a good job on their spiderman game make this look horrendous in comparison.

It was pretty crap even when it came out. I don't hate it but it's highly disappointing.
The system they had of superhero/menace was a cool idea in concept. But the video wasn't exaggerating when it mentioned that the side missions had to be completed every five minutes or else risk getting hunted down
oh no lol, this shit came out in 2014 , and at the same time we had games like Batman Arkham series, even the graphics were dog shit for 2014 standards. I played this game only because a little spiderman fanboy in me urged me to play. Heck i thought giving it a second chance but this game is also horribly optimized, even with a 1660ti it ran horribly during cut scenes or quick time events in boss fights. And the story is also sub standard and final boss fight with carnage was more lackluster than Moon knight's ending.

In case you're wondering about Gwen, check out the description of the Electro-Proof costume, it basically says that he and Peter broke up, that's right, one of the best aspects of Andrew's Spider-Man was his chemistry with Gwen Stacy (not to mention the impact that her death had on him) and the game developers opted to throw her character completely out the window and the only mention you get of her or the only answer as to why she's not present is inside the description of the most random spidey costume, and it's as lazy as it sounds: "Gwen and I broke up".

The first game (The Amazing Spider-Man) is, actually, a fun game. It has nothing special, like Spider-Man 2 (Game) or Ultimate Spider-Man, but it's still fun.
Now, how can you call the first Marvel's Spider-Man "an alright game"? It's simply the BEST Spider-Man game until these days.

I actually liked that TASM game 1 had web swinging that actually made you feel the motion of swinging and not like a drone following Spiderman as he swung.

I actually loved this game as a kid. Replaying it now I still enjoy it only complaints would be the hero menace system (nice idea but exicuted wrong) and the character designs weren't great other than it it was enjoyable enjoyed the story a good bit

This is my first exposure to the TASM2 videogame and, forgetting all Spidey mythos, I thought "CK" stood for Cobra Kai.

Best part about this game was the buttons for swinging. To swing with the right arm use the right trigger and same with the left and left. That is it
Considering that the movie was rushed and the game devs also had just 6 months to make this game. What they put together for that game is pretty darn impressive when you think about it. I loved the TASM 1 game and I think if the devs had been given proper time to make the second one, they would've made an awesome game.

Activision shouldn't have shut down Shaba. Web of Shadows had an interesting direction for gameplay despite it having some flaws, would've been nice if Shaba got to build upon that and also given more time too

They did Shaba dirty. We will never ever see a remaster or a remake of this game, and Spider-Man Classic. (the supposed sequel of WoS.)

The mobile port being the first time Yuri Lowenthal voiced Spider-Man and having Venom instead of carnage was sorta neat.
I think story-wise kingpin Kraven and Carnage were interesting and would have been better to see those stories play out in a better game because this game does have very many problems especially the hero menace Meter.

haha this game always pops up in my countrys biggest used video game trading Facebook group. The pricing is always ridicolous e.g. 100 euros. The reasons are so stupid for the pricing:
- Marvel's Spider-Man is not on Xbox One
- This game is not on Xbox Store
- This game is not on Game Pass
- It's rare
- It's the only Spider-Man game on Xbox One

i actually really liked this game, maybe its because i played it when i was younger and didnt look too much in to games but i never really had any problems with it, and the whole menace level never affected me, i almost never did side missions and i was always menace 3 but i never really felt like the game was any different, thats just me though.
I would say the game was amazing back then, i really loved it, but now i just realized that the graphics could have been way better than that, it was a 2014 game, it looks like a 2010 or 11 game, but the mechanics, territories, swinging and stuff like that were quite fine

The worst thing with this game was that weird fucking intro and outro to every activity. It wasn't "land somewhere, solve crime and leave" it was "land somewhere, watch a repetitive cut-scene, solve crime, watch a second repetitive cut-scene, and leave". It made the mandatory aspect of the activities so much more of a pain. The first amazing spider-man game was absolutely incredible next to the dumpster fire that was this game.

The only thing I didn't like about this game were the mandatory side missions. Aside from that everything was pretty dope.
I don't know if it's because of simple trolling purpose or because you just didn't discover it, but you can change the swinging speed. Now, I played it in PC, so don't know how different it is from PS4. But, if you use the movement keys along with the swinging keys, the speed as well as direction changes. Also, if you press both the swinging keys simultaneously, his speed increases dramatically. Like seriously.
I think people never bothered to read the comics collected in the game because it was mentioned in the first comic that Gwen and peter had broken up and he somehow loves MJ now. Peter regrets it. This is a conversation between him and uncle Ben's "ghost". Now, I know this isn't any better, but hey, they did mention what happened with Gwen. LoL. Before anyone asks, that is the only comic I read.
Aside from that I also liked how we can control his spider sense. It was very useful in taking down the bad guys in stealth mode. Also, idk if you never tried it, but there were other methods of capturing the targets instead of just bashing that button like you said. For e.g., once you update the seismic blast to final level, it can knock down the enemies and then you can web them to the wall or ground. There were other ways to knock them or simply stick them to the wall if they are close to it.
Aside from the side missions being mandatory, I also think they didn't give enough screen time to the villains such as electro or Goblin. But, all in all, this was a better game than you make it out to be. LoL
