I really like this method of starting with a game you are familiar with and racing them, then teaching each other, then racing with swapped sets. It's a really great way to learn some of the more in depth methods for speed running!

Started watching the first step at the start of the month due to the wonderful algorithms of our TH-cam overlords. Can’t make a live twitch stream due to work hours BUT I have deeply enjoyed watching this series thus far and have watched some older episodes. Love the content and commentary! Keep on keeping on!
Side note picked up my vanilla copy of KH2 not for a speed run play but to play it again for fun because of this! Gotta find my vanilla Gen2 Pokémon for the same purpose. Thanks guys!

I just got to say, this month has meant so much to me. Getting to see two of my favorite games ran at such a high level, and then seeing it reversed and ran from a beginner perspective has been incredible. I was thoroughly entertained throughout and can’t wait to see it done again next week. Would love to see more content like this month in the future. Keep up the amazing work you two!

This is really cool! I’d love to see more of these. Speed running always seems so impossibly time consuming to get anywhere with, but breaking it down like you have here makes it seem way more accessible!
Loved the KH2/Crystal content. Really insightful to see each of you tutor the other through the runs and the races are always really fun. I'd definitely watch more of these type of long term projects.

It convinced me to try my own hand at running KH2FM randomized, it feels like a totally new game

Love this whole month. It was so fun and so wholesome and you both sincerely seemed to be enjoying yourselves, even when the RNG was being rude. I really hope you do more of this in the future. Also, I've been inspired enough to download the stuff to try a casual Crystal randomizer run. Will probably try it myself as soon as I've finished up Shining Pearl. I might try KH2 rando, too -- I liked the whole Kingdom Hearts series casually, although the randomizer seems very daunting.
Also, at the comment about, "the last break" I looked at the time remaining in the video and thought, "I hate to tell you two, but..."
Wonderful show! It's sometimes assumed speedrunners can pick up new games and already be good. Thanks for showing you can learn a game gradually even without prior experience in the genre.

Haven't finished the race, but this whole set has been one of the best first steps. Especially since both Keiz and Hobz would very much like to help the other rather than deal with their own game please.

Is there some resources for us to learn Crystal in the same way as Jhobz? Like how to randomize the game and the tracker used an everything?
You know, it’s not often that I find something that can maintain over 50% of my attention for 5 minutes, let alone 4 hours. I salute you guys. I stand by my other comment and wanna see this repeated for a “grand champion” kind of thing. Loser had to give 6 compliments 😬

I kinda want to start trying a kh2 randomizer. It seems like a lot of fun. Kh2 is one of my favorite games.
Just a recommendation for future promotion of the new TH-cam channel, clarify that it is "Sum" instead of "Some" just to ease any confusion. Otherwise love Keiz and Jhobz synergy and this race/swap/teach/race concept it'd be great if y'all can get other runners to join in. (Probably pretty tough to get others to be able to commit to a 4 week cycle)
I love how the Roamers were Zapdos, Flareon, Suicune
Now it's time for Hobz to teach Keiz how to do the Sprashfecta.
Well Hobs, in my casual play-through of Red (or blue I forget which, since I owned them both) I ran out of moves on my last living pokemon on the fourth elite four member, only to discover that there was a fifth person to fight. And Yes, I struggled my rival to death very painfully with many resets. So at least you only had 1 pokemon on the champion to struggle though.
A true highlight to watch this live. Such a cool concept that’s been executed wonderfully over the past few weeks 😊
Looking forward to seeing Hobz and Keizaron try to coach two others in these Randomizers next week 😂

Hobbs I commend you. I've done this exact same seed in final fantasy 4 and link to the past.
It really sucks but the experience gained from just how garbage this seed was is crucial. I really feel you could half the time of this race in almost any other seed
Also keizaron well played, you finished a decently difficult KH2 seed in quite a good time especially from someone not familiar with the speed strats.
Did a race of crystal along side and it didnt seem far my seed was so much better than the one Hobbs got.. I finished at 3:00:32 and I ran my starter which was jolteon through the whole game.. finished at level 54 after beating red with a move set of thunderbolt surf aeroblast and ice beam lmao
Just checked its DVs and it had 14 Special 12 speed. This thing was busted
I'm still waiting for some kind, generous soul to make this KH2 x Crystal Multiworld option.

On the one hand, I want to say that part of the seeds being kinda wild is because of them intentionally getting a bizarro seed for each other. On the other, I don't believe Keiz would intentionally throw something like that at Hobz, haha.

How can you tell what worlds has important checks when receiving a report? I cant figure it out xD
The reports themselves give the the hint.
They mentioned in a previous episode that there is ticket tape that scrolls across the bottom of the screen with the hint information. Not sure if it's in the display area or not. Hope that helps!!
There are text in the lower end of the tracker, below Keiz's screen, that will tell what the report says. Additionally, the number next to the world symbol will update from "?" to whatever number of important checks there are. For example, he found that Twilight Town has 4 important checks, so the number below Twilight Town's symbol (the keyhole) will update from ? to 4.
The tracker will automatically add the important check next to the designated world when Keiz picks them up.
One way is on the tracker next to his facecam. The areas are on top, and start with 0/?. When he gets a report it will change the question mark to the number of important checks. As an example, when he gets the report at 20:25 you can see simulated twilight town (the ninja star icon) change from 0/? to 0/3.
After he moves the tracker, it would just be the ? next to the level icon, and the text at the bottom of the tracker. No 0/ with it.
The tracker automatically updates as soon as you get a report. There's no in-game indication; it's all in the tracker.
For example, at 1:28:51, watch the text at the bottom-right corner. Once he gets the report, it changes to "TWTNW has 3 important checks", and the ? by that world's icon is replaced by 3.
