Thanks for this info! We were booked in Seaside Yacht Club interior for next September and decided to upgrade. Can’t wait to see videos from your YC experience!
Our fatal flaw for YC is how bidding is handled, example: on sailing we disembarked today our minimum bid to go from a YC Interior to a YC balcony was $990/pp bringing total cost to $6000 which was over $500 more than we would pay from booking outright. Met multiple people who upgraded from Bella interior to YC balcony with minimal bid of $700/pp total cost to them was about $1800. I’d like to see a better bid system be implemented though I know that’s much easier said than done.
Totally agree, especially for repeat cruisers. Heard this on our past cruise and I was a little peeved that they were first time cruisers and had a balcony suite for half the price we paid for interior.
@@jackiewilkey agreed but I don’t know how their system works, all I know is it’s handled by a third party and MSC is hands off once the bidding process starts. Just doesn’t make sense bid offers are sent out and the more you paid the higher the starting bid is. Would make sense to me to offer free upgrades to those who paid full rate for an interior and then upgrade those who bid on interiors as opposed to offering those who bid on an interior a balcony but I’m sure there’s some algorithm that determine that’s the best way to handle the process. Good news is that YC is so fantastic more and more sailings are going out full and less bids are getting accepted. Though I was a little miffed last week when I asked to pay to upgrade to a balcony once onboard since 17 rooms were available, and concierge offered me the low low price of $2200, only to be told by a bidder they paid $2100 all in for a balcony via bid.
The Yacht Club Interior suite is not large - but it is livable, especially for cruisers who, by choice, spend very little time in their cabin. For us, we sleep, dress, and shower in our cabin, and the rest of the time, we are enjoying the perks of the Yacht Club. While we do not have an extensive cruising history, we have done several MSC Yacht Club and NCL Haven cruises over the past year, and we have never had the need (or desire), to eat in our cabin or entertain others in our cabin - so the smaller space doesn't bother us. One big benefit of booking the Yacht Club Interior cabin over a Yacht Club Balcony cabin is that the money we save gives us more money for another cruise!
If you need two YC cabins, I think it is beneficial to get a YC interior. Booking one yc interior and one yc balcony across from each other could be great for a family. That's when I can see the benefits.
Welcome back! We were on Meraviglia when you put this out. Our first YC was in June interior suite. We loved it and booked for our anniversary for November. I must say I was much more spoiled the first time. We felt the smaller details were missing this time. Not sure if it's because YC is so much more popular or the turn around in personnel, most of the June crew are off and going to the World America. I will say as far as the cabin experience this trip we were disappointed.
Wayan is an amazing butler. I’m glad you got to meet him. He was my first butler on Meraviglia in 2020. We kept in touch, and saw each other again this past May on Seascape. He wasn’t my butler then, but he was always around and we got to catch up.
Going on our first MSC cruise in yacht club interior in Feb. After watching this podcast I truly hope we can get a chance to bid for an upgrade. Thanks for the real 411 on this.
We're going on our second MSC cruise, Yah willing, in January. I booked a balcony room, and I have a bid for the interior YC. I'm hoping the bid is accepted. Our first cruise our bid was accepted for interior room, but we were upgraded to a balcony suite to our surprise. The experience was very opulent! Thank you for the feedback.
I just got off the MSC Seaside the day you posted this. It was a great Transatlantic cruise! However, my bestie and I have decided that MSC also stands for Missing Simple Communication. The lack of basic, correct communication between different departments and between staff and guests is lacking. This was my third MSC cruise - fifth cruise ever. I really like MSC! But the communication issues can make it tough, especially when it comes to medical stuff like getting distilled water for a CPAP or labeling foods so people know what to avoid.
I’m going on MSC and doing the yacht club December 2025. I’m doing the inside room and I have been thinking if I get a chance I just might bid up listening to you guys. I probably will now.
Relating to hurricanes and I feel a bit bad for asking but when were you supposed to go to Europe and is that still happening? (I SO MUCH want to see you bar crawl around World Europa ❤😂)
They really should do YC interior suites double the size to include a sitting/living area. Basically, merge every 2 interiors into a single larger unit. I think they do it to hit a price point in YC, but still, a standard interior is not sufficient for the level of service they are going for. This would also lower the total amount of guests in the communal areas, making it truly feel even more exclusive! Would also solve the small bathroom issue as well.
Hi Chris and Beth! Interesting compare and contrast of The Yacht Club Interior room versus a Yacht Club Balcony Room. The bathroom situation is a turn off for me - if as a bigger person you can't fully be in the shower to experience the overhead rain showerhead. Is it a deal breaker? As you said no! Because you still get the amenities of Yacht Club, access to the Spa Rooms, a free restocked mini fridge, wifi for 2 devices, Yacht Club Top Sail Lounge, Yacht Club Pool and poolside buffet for breakfast and lunch. However, i have a question for you regarding Butler service. Will they get you food from the food kiosks on World America and bring it to your room or poolside? How about Gelato or soft serve ice cream, is that possible to be delivered? When you are in Yacht Club, do you buy a dining package? When we were on Seashore in November 2023, we didn't do that so curious what your experience has been with butler service and how far that extends? What experience did you book for the inaugural sailing April 12th? We will be Yacht Club Balcony again on deck 19 I believe. Maybe we will get to meet you!
