  • Welcome back, golfers! Today, I'm thrilled to share with you an amazing drill that helps you shallow the golf club in the downswing.
    Join me, David Leathem Golf, as I guide you through a step-by-step process to master this critical aspect of your golf downswing. Shallowing the club and shaft in the downswing is not just a fancy move; it's the cornerstone of consistent, powerful ball striking.
    In this comprehensive tutorial, I'll break down the mechanics of shallowing the golf club in the downswing and reveal why it's a hallmark of every great player's swing. But here's the catch: as you work on shallowing the golf club, you must also address the challenge of the clubface opening. Fear not! I'll demonstrate practical techniques to square the clubface in the downswing using your right or left wrist, ensuring you maintain control and accuracy throughout your golf swing.

    I have tried shallowing before without the wrist tip. Looking forward to see if I get a good strike after I put that tip to use.
    Tried it in the garage and watched what it did to my clubface. It put it in the right position. Thanks David!

      Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. Yes absolutely same thing happened to me years ago when I first tried and thought it wasn’t working. Digging into it more and learning more I realised it was the club face. Pretty complex move but so good when you get it . Let me know how it goes 👌

    Very good explanation, definitely a feel I will try! The 150 yard lob wedge joke legitimately made me laugh! From southern Illinois USA, I’m not the best ball striker in the world, spray the driver everywhere, wedge game is alright though, but 3 putts are a problem on the course for me.

    Hi David,
    Nice video and great recommendation, especially with driver.
    Can I recommend that you look at Monte Scheinblum's (and Hack Motion's) latest videos on this exact move with the addition of moving from radial to ulna deviation at the same time?
    A couple of people have asked how to release in the comments here and this is a great feel to add to the wrist move you've demonstrated.
    Cheers
    Mark

      Hey Mark, thanks so much for your comment. I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Yes, hack motion is something I've actually used in the last few weeks, and definitely with the addition of the ulnar deviation of the wrist can certainly help. And really, once you get that feeling, it's amazing what the body does in reaction to that. I will discuss this in more detail in further videos

    Hey man - great video, can you explain the body rotation a little bit, when and how does it happen?

    • @dlgolftips
      @dlgolftips  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for the comment. 100% I actually have it in my notes to discuss this in a video. When you can this position the body will feel the need to rotate as the body tends to orientate itself around what the club is doing. But I will go into more detail on how to achieve the correct rotation in another video

      Also if you can elaborate exactly when the release is initiated. Some TH-camrs say they start release very early in the down swing but I don’t understand exactly how and not chunk it. 🤔. Thx in advance.

    Good video but how do you release it. Don't you have to swing the handle back to left so the clubhead will fire out to the ball?

    • @dlgolftips
      @dlgolftips  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Nathan, thanks for the comment about the video, glad you enjoyed it. You're absolutely right, the handle does work back to the left, but by shallowing and getting the clubface in this position, as soon as you add the body rotation, that will pull the handle back into the left, and potentially that is for another video to go into more depth.

    • @nathanperry9593
      @nathanperry9593 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@dlgolftips that would be great. I got the shallowing and how important it is. But kept blocking it. Then I started rotating back to the inside things started working but thought I was crazy for swinging that far left. More clarification on this would be great.

    People really underestimate how much hands and arms need to move and focus on “athletic” body movements trying to hit the ball. It’s a disaster. Pros on TV we see every week are moving their hands at the start of the downswing twice as early and twice as far as amateurs. Amateurs should be focusing on the hand and arm movements your showing and mastering them before ever thinking rotating the body open.

    • @dlgolftips
      @dlgolftips  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey, thanks for the comment. I 100% agree and focus a lot of my instruction around what the hands and arms are doing. At the end of the day, that is what controls the golf club. And by and large, when they behave and control the club, the body reacts the way that it should. I think far too many golfers focus on body movements and less about the hands and arms, which, as I say, control the golf club ⛳️
