Today I want to share with you my thoughts on Ronald Malfi's latest release, Black Mouth.
I tried to make this video as spoiler free as possible. These opinions are all my own, but feel free to discuss your own thoughts on this novel in the comments below!

I am glad you liked it. Nobody else seems to! Lol. I just need to read it and form my own opinion. I love the hair color! And the eyeshadow.
I didn't realize it wasn't getting a lot of positive reviews! I absolutely adored it.
So glad the cosmic elements in here are like they are in Malignant Summer, I'll definitely be picking this one up. Malignant Summer was my favorite buddy read we've done so far, anything that's even remotely close to that is a must-buy for me lol. Super cool hair color too! I had mine a similar color at one point, I think it was Manic Panic Vampire Red?
DUDE! I highly recommend this one to you. I think you're going to love it. Also, we need to buddy read again soon! And omg Manic Panic was all I used in high school and college, but it would always fade out of my hair in like a week D:
I held off on watching this video until I finished the book. I agree, a 5⭐️ for me, too. I also just finished December Park a few days ago (both on your recommendation) and loved that as well. Ronald Malfi’s writing style and content in these 2 books brings me back to when I was voraciously reading Stephen King as a teenager in the 80’s.
I'm so glad you enjoyed them both! Malfi is definitely one of my go to authors now. I just always know I'm going to enjoy his stories and tone.

Dennis the ninja turtle made this book for me. I also wanted more depth with the magician but perhaps Ronald Malfi is keeping in his pocket for future prequel... One can hope.
I recently finished his book Snow, which I really enjoyed a lot. I'm going to read Bone White next. I'll need to check out this book as well.
Bone White is so good! I love the entire Alaskan atmosphere of that novel.
@@violetprynne I'm a big fan of horror novels that take place in the snow, there's something about the atmosphere I can really sink into. Winter is my favorite season.

How is Come With Me by this guy? I just picked it up.
It's one of my top three favorite Malfi books. Unlike most of his work, it's not typically scary, but it is one of the best ghost stories I've ever read and it's really gut-wrenching. The ending hurt my soul, but it's such a great read.

Read this because of your insta post! Absolutely loved it. Highly reccomend the audiobook. Agree with everything you said. Some random thoughts...
One thing that stood out to me that he did really well is that whole - storm on the horizon thing. Like at the beginning of the book, there's all these great signs and portents of something coming. It's more artful than just foreshadowing, sort of like this steadily increasing dread, at least for me. Sunshine devil girl was an amazing chapter.
One of my nits - the timeline of the magician. I would have loved it if he met the children *after* his "transcendence" performance at the circus. And I wouldn't have minded a few more children being preyed upon by him. Definitely loved his backstory. A nice guy meets.. a being. Much more interesting than a Pennywise who is just the being. So curious about that cosmic element, which might mean put the right amount in the book? We also didn't get an explicit answer about why the magician was so unnerved and undone by Dennis when they were all kids. That element was so intriguing - that this devil character was made nervous by someone like Dennis. That was another great moment - Dennis pulling out the coin at home.
I also wasn't sure if Malfi was going for a kind of - was it supernatural or in his head - kind of vibe. Along those lines, I was a little annoyed the characters didn't bond over/all experience the supernatural elements as adults.
Last last thought - jesus why couldn't the hippo scene at the end be edited down. Felt like it went on forever.
You're so right about Sunshine Devil Girl and the magician being scared of Dennis. Great points!! And they both definitely added to the mystery of the story. I do agree with the hippo scene as well. It was rather odd and rather long. haha
