Loved to hear your thoughts on this. One of my favorite examples of men writing women well is "Mary" by Nat Cassidy. He writes the main character so respectfully, and with so much depth and complexity.

I have that on my TBR! So many people have recommended it, so I'm glad he also fits into this category!

Stephen King has improved over time. Great video.

Another great video! I have read all but 2 of these (No One Gets Out Alive and The Prettiest Girl in the Grave and they are both on my TBR). Agree with all your commentary on these, have to reread Gerald’s Game, read it back in the 90’s. So, as a reader of horror since the 1970’s’s and having worked in a gas station for 10 years and as a NYC cop for almost 25 years, I am really thick skinned when it comes to “locker room talk”. However, even I was shocked by Richard Laymon’s overly descriptive pages upon pages of women’s assets! 🤣🤣🤣. Happy not to find him on your list!

I have heard that said about Laymon so many times, and I just don't know if I can ever read his work because he's so notorious for that!

@@violetprynne there’s probably no need to read him because there are so many great new horror writers these days. I read The Traveling Vampire Show and Funland, but I probably won’t actively search out any more of his books. Honestly, I laughed at it more than was horrified by his endless description of female anatomy. 🙇🏻‍♀️

Gerald’s Game?? Isn’t this one about the little girl that was abused. The abuse was too graphic for me. Exploitive to children. Maybe my memory is betraying me??

It's about a couple who go on a trip to a remote location. The husband handcuffs his wife to the bed during foreplay and has a heart attack. His wife is unable to get out of the handcuffs and scary things start to happen
