My theory is that they choose not to use her as much because while she's hilarious and her impressions are FIRE, her acting skills aren't the strongest. She might improve with time and more acting lessons. They use Aidy, Cecily and Kate more than the other girls because their acting is 100% on point.
It's also why that trio have all been there since 2012 (the only current cast member that's been there longer than them is Kenan). I assume Lorne Michaels has guaranteed that trio (and Kenan) a job for as long as they want it. Melissa may or may not get renewed once her 7-year contract is up. We'll see.

Nathan Cox thanks for letting me know I just looked it up. I would have never guessed she’d go in that direction (just because all I’ve ever seen her so is comedy). She has a very “easy, breezy” quality to her actual singing voice. Apparently she’s still an official cast member on SNL (that’s how I discovered her) but I don’t know how many appearances she actually makes lately. I know the impressionist comics (which she does a lot of) aren’t used a lot unless they need someone to play a specific celebrity or politician for a sketch. Hopefully she’ll get a shot at a sitcom or something where she can really shine. 🙂

If we can get it without being told it'd be cool, but honestly, I'd just really like to see the variety of characters have hilarious and mixed up "adventures" with each other. Take us on a ride! Embrace the madness and just "[go] off the rails on a Crazy Train!"
