Not only time with that person, but time with some of the best impressionists of our time. His honest reaction is super telling

When she said she did Kristen Wiig, I couldn’t even remember what Kristen sounded like, but when she did it, a flood of KW sketches filled my mind.

Melissa is so under utilized on SNL. She's not in enough sketches and she should be in more of them. She's an amazing talent and I fully expect to see her on the big screen soon.

@@bonnieb9238 Amen. He has no talent at all. Every once in a while SNL has an awful cast member and I have to think that Lorne Michaels owes someone a favor.
The thing is, SNL just isn't the right place for Melissa's skills. She is a fiendishly good impersonatress (I think I just invented a word...) and although what she has is a very rare gift, it just doesn't work in that environment. Impersonations at SNL are part of a larger dynamic and also tend to a little bit over the top, and that's on purpose. That is why Kate and Cecily are in every sketch, they can do that 'over the top' thing as easy as breathing. Melissa strikes me as a much more introverted type, and being an introvert myself, I can imagine how much harder it would be to go 'over the top' as satire demands it.
Which sadly means that Melissa will leave SNL sooner than later. But even if it will break my heart to not be able to watch her there, I strongly believe she will have a successful post-SNL career, unlike many SNL alumni who sunk into obscurity after their stint there ended. She is an amazing talent, and is destined to shine on her own.

Melissa is super talented but she's almost too good at doing impressions, it's good for like having a cool skill or a party trick, but for something like an snl sketch, it's honestly better to not have a 100% impression but to get a couple of things right and then overemphasize a bunch of stuff to nonsensical proportions. But i think she oughta still be in more sketches anyways she doesn't always need to be doing impressions to be in sketches!
To date she is the most underutilized, underrated cast member on SNL. Whatever she does next I will certainly be watching. She's the best!

People who can do both male and female characters are crazy talented.
Sara Paulson's impression of Drew is classic.

It's amazing how Melissa can just do the impressions on command. No warm up or anything. She just pulls the voices out of thin air.

She's stiff and awkward if she's not singing or impersonating. She's a great asset, but not very versatile.

I had the same reaction as Seth! Even the voice pitch, and it was so natural!
Melissa is stunningly beautiful, and so, so, so talented. I get the sense that she's just a super-kind, awesome human being.
Wiig should probably not have voice unlock enabled on her phone when she is around Melissa.

I can't disagree, but I wish Melissa had a larger share of screen time per episode than Chloe and Heidi, being senior in the cast to them and all. And no disrespect to the talents of Ms Gardner and Ms Fineman at all. They are awesome, and if Melissa were dead, their contributions to the show would be in ideal proportions.
Man, I do NOT get the Chloe Fineman hype. She has like two characters, and her Britney Spears impression feels more like a bad ripoff of Paris Hilton's Barbie impression from like 17 years ago. They don't give Melissa anything to do ever even though she has more range.

she's not as big as she should be, but i think she is going to get bigger as more exposure happens, they just need to get her in the right movie for her shape-shifting skills to be used.
Most impressionists capture just the essence of a person and it’s amazing and funny (Dana Carvey is a good example) but Melissa imitates people to such an insane degree. I’m glad she is getting more stuff to do on SNL

That Wiig impression is one of the best impressions I've ever heard in my life.
Seth finally made me laugh out loud when he said he wanted to call Kristen Wiig to make sure she still had her soul. That was hilarious, because Melissa's impression was eerily spot on.
