- Unboxing the new Monster 950 (937cc) + Dark Stealth, been waiting for this bike to arrive for a while now and its finally here, had such a blast on the Supersport which has this engine, can't wait to see what this is like, Hope you enjoyed the video

@@ProjectMoto im surprised how many people are hating simply because of lack of trellis - without ever seeing one in person. They arrive in NY in about 2 weeks or so - i will sprint to see one
@@ducatinyc they had to do drastic changes to progress, and imo they have done a great job, looks lighter, sharper, almost looks like a mini Streetfighter, think it looks awesome , i personally love classic bikes but also appreciate how good these new bikes are, not just ducati but across other manufacturers too, we are lucky to have all these bikes to choose from, now I have to put some miles on the new Monster and see just how good it is :)

@@ProjectMoto agree, just saw this matte black Ducati and a bunch of other new Ducati’s at a bike demo at COTA for the MotoGP race here in Texas. I’ve already got a 2019 matte black Tuono but if I didn’t I’d be looking hard at getting that new Monster…it looks stunning in person.

My 1st watch on your vid, like it 👏 , wasn’t sure on the new monster tbh , i have an S4R and like you say the trellis frame just does it😉 but seeing your upload has definitely changed my opinion , especially with the 821 comparison, the New Monster is growing on me thanks for taking the trouble to upload 👍

Thanks a lot, oh yeah you know how much I love the Multistrada V4, ducati, and other manufacturers of course, are just making such a great range of bikes at the moment,mate if I was the other side of the camera and trying to decide what bike I wanted to buy I just don’t know what I would get, all depends on what u feel most comfortable on, like to look at, what you use it for etc.. I’m glad I just have to ride them!! Will have some videos on the H2 soon , he’s a lucky man as he has a few of them
The new monster is growing on me. Love it in the Black. But if I’d rather have the H2 looks awesome.
The new monster is really nice in the flesh...we , well when I say we I mean Paul has a few H2’s , that’s why I keep winding him up about riding them, but as soon as the weather gets a bit better we will do some videos on them :)
More modern lighter yes I do like the trellis frame on the old monster but like you say you have to move forward. Sharp looking bike 👍
Yeah I get that mate , monsters been around for so long and it’s human nature to be wary of change, and it is a big change, if things didn’t change we wouldn’t have the classic bikes to ride and enjoy... but you know I like it :)

Used to own a Monster 696+ with full Termi system, love the look of the 937 despite lack of trellis frame. Cheers Project moto.

Yeah it definitely looks better to me , it needed a drastic change to modernise and update the bike, I think they have done a great job, been some comments about how it looks a little like other bikes, maybe it’s just looking more modern now, makes the old monster look a little dated and heavy now to me

Is there a seatplace under that cover in monster+, or you should buy it extra?
You get the seat and the rear seat cover with the plus Monster, you can not have the seat on the bike though when using the cover, it’s one of the other
If you had the choice between a new monster and the 2020 model (last of the trellis and 1200 class) which would you pick. I may be in that situation and having trouble deciding 😉👊✊
Tbh I like both bikes a lot… just depends on how and where you ride and what you use the bike for … for me some days I would want the monster 937 and some days the 1200, if I did have a 1200 though it would be the 1200r .. both very cool..937 is a more nimble bike if that’s what your looking for , you would have to sit on them and maybe get a test ride on them
@@ProjectMoto the plod thickens mate. I headed down to the dealer here in Melbourne today now I’m stuck between the V2 streetfighter and the monster. Gonna buy new just need to test ride them. Wasn’t able today due to shit weather and not having a V2 on the floor and the monster was waiting for rego. You got a project moto email address mate??

Yeah it takes a passenger, this one it the + model so it comes with rear seat cover but still has a rear seat

Yeah they are different and would feel very different to your bike, especially the twin cylinder engine , depends what you use the bike for really , I personally really like it but then I also like inline 4 engines, you should have a test ride if one for sure , the quick shifter is really good too :)

Guys, I weigh 215lbs (97.5 kg) and I'm 6'1" (185.4cm). Do you think this bike is too small for me?
Right that’s hard to say as everyone is different in size,riding position,how they ride , when I say size difference someone can be 6,1” but have longer legs/arms then someone who’s the same height , so it’s hard to say, I’m only 5’8” and 75kg and it fits me fine, I know a guy who’s about 6’3” and has a Panigale V2 and he loves it, which is a bike again that I think fits me so your just have to wait I guess until your bike or a demonstrator arrives for you to sit on, what I will say is I have been riding the bike and it’s... well your have to wait for the next video 😉

Whatts the difference between the standard 950 monster and the 950 pluss?
With the Plus model you get the rear seat cover and the small fairing part around the clocks

Pretty much the old monster with a cheaper frame ie cast alu instead of the cromoly trellis frame. But honestly when a new bike has a new frame then it is a new bike, at least for me. But I wished the new monster would be a bit different then the old monster with a cheaper frame and a new swing arm.
Tbh it’s nothing like the Old monster, not only to look at but to ride too, you should what h the first ride video as it’s ... well you will see In the video :)
@@ProjectMoto well it should be lighter and stiffer, but the new cost cutting design of the frame will probably be interchangeable with the older monster. Maybe small differences like different airbox and stuff like that. But to me it is the same bike as before but with a new alu cast frame they bolted on the older monster :P But like I said, for me a new frame is a new bike so it is way better than say the new zx10r, r6, the older fireblade and the new cbr600rr which still uses the same old frame :P
It's a nice alternative for a Duke 890 or Yam mt09 but I would buy none of these. I just don't like the design, looks to basic / typical. Rather had a Ducati alternative for the Nine T or Thruxton RS.

I feel love old monster more! Idk but new version is strange
Yeah it’s been around for a long time so people will still like the old monster, change is always a big thing , which although they are not being manufactured anymore they will still be around in the used market so will be there for people to enjoy ...I like old classics and new bikes,but for the bikes to progress and get better there needed to be a drastic change, but I’m the same the new Panigales, zx10’s and other sports bikes are awesome but I still love and prefer the old 7X7R’s , they are not as good as new bikes but I love the look of them so I get that coming from Monster owners , for me though the new Monster looks really cool In The flesh, especially in the matt black colour :)

The looks are a huge step backwards in my opinion, the older shape is much better looking.
The new one almost looks Japanese...

Big disappointment. I’ve got the 797, thats the last proper monster, air cooled. The trellis frame made the monster, sorry. I’m a purist :).
Yeah I get that people like the old monster but things have to progress, I love old classic bikes myself, really enjoy riding them even though they a not as good as new bikes but I appreciate how good these new bikes are to ride , everyone who I have spoke to who is a Multistrada purist about the new V4 have said the same.. until they have ridden the v4 then they have said how good the v4 is

Yeah some will prefer the old one some the new, personally I prefer this 950 as it’s more sportier and sharper then the old monster but that’s me, some bikes I prefer the older version of bikes to look at and ride depends on the bike , that’s the Beaty of all the different bike we have to choose from, the 1200r monster was the best for me but some like the 797,821 or older monsters , just the way it is, but the new monster is the best one for me now
@@ProjectMoto If you like the new one the best, you probably should be riding KTM's. They are the shapest and sportiest in the category.
This new Monster better be the real deal, because the performance is the only thing it has going for it. It now has to face the 890Duke, and the 890 is the "daddy" of mid size nakeds... If it doesn't beat the 890 Duke, it's going to be pretty embarrassing for Ducati. Then you have the street triple RS...
The mid sized naked segment is thought at the moment, and with this design, the heritage and pedigree isn't going to sell the new bike, it better overperform the competition

Basically a v2 streetfighter
It is kinda a mini Streetfighter, to me anyway , not really a V2 (Panigale) Streetfighter as the V2 has a different engine and more power but it’s the closest your gonna get to one :)

Tbh Everyone who see it really likes it and is surprised how good it looks, had all 3 colours turn up today at the shop and red looks cool, which I don’t really ever go for in a bike, don’t matter if it’s a bike, trainers, music or women everyone likes different things, which is a good thing, me personally I like it and definitely won’t forget it... we took it to a track day at Brands Hatch the other day and it was... well your see soon

MT07 that costs $6k more.
In the UK the Monster is about £3k more then the MT 07, I’ve ridden both and tbh i would still buy the Monster over the MT O7, but again people are gonna buy what they like and factor different things like cost etc .. but it really does ride nice down the twisty roads :)
