      @joshmolina6528 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      what does dramatic flick mean, like good style or just a better flick?

    • @Ohgreatcj.
      @Ohgreatcj. 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@joshmolina6528 dramatic meaning a bit faster and a little less control sometimes. If you see a good pair of vulcanized shoes, then go for it. If you’re used to skating cup soles then just expect to change up your skating a bit. Nothing bad.
      I recently bought me some Kyle walker pros because I want to give vulcanized shoes another shot. My advice: Go with what feels right for you. Personally, I love cup soles for the protection.

      It really depends on how thick the vulc sole is and how much padding they drop into three mid-sole. Adidas cup soles tend to be super thick, but I've gotten a couple pairs of fallen and a pair of eS that are fairly thin. Vulc is fairly standard (but not indistinguishable).

    Honestly I enjoy the flick on cupsoles more than on vulc shoes. Idk I just feel like when I'm doing it on a cupsole, since the suede is the part of the shoe that is flicking, it feels so much more precise and more controlled. On a vulc you have this big rubber part that makes my flicks more inconsistent. That rubber kinda separates my foot from the board, but when you are flicking with the suede part it feels like your actual toe is doing the flick which makes it more controlled. Also, that rubber on the vulcs wears out super fast for me, and I absolutely hate that my kickflips feel some way one week and they feel completely different the next week because the rubber wore out which makes the flick feel different.

    All I know is (and what honestly confuses me most) is that when I went from Nike Bruin SB’s (vulc), to eS accel slims (cupsole)… the NIKE’S HAD INFINITELY BETTER IMPACT SUPPORT with a bouncy rubber outsole and a zoom insole. Maybe the eS shoes are just poorly made now since they’re resurgence, but I couldn’t believe how much pain the accels caused and how thin they were compared to the sole of the Nike bruins. 🤷‍♂️
    On a different note, I just wish the Tiago 1010’s had better grip and ball of foot support… because that shoe would be pretty perfect otherwise. And it’s not nearly as bulky as I thought it would be from photos online.
    PS: Christian PLEASE release your signature insole 🙏 otherwise I may consider the FP insole for whatever next shoe I go for… maybe Etnies marana 🙏

    The biggest difference is a Cup sole shoe is built and can have more padding in the outsole, which makes it more stable protecting your ankle/knee joints, not to mention protecting the small bones and muscles in your feet . A vulc is cooked and the only way to add padding is with an insole and they lack real structure and support. . I've skated on and off over 30 years. Vulc shoes will destroy your feet over time and you end up standing on a thicker insole which isn't good on your arches. Now that is somewhat my opinion. . but my feet at this point can't handle a vulc shoe for more than 1 hour and a cup sole I can skate in all day at 41 years old.

  • @ThorneBenatar
    @ThorneBenatar 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hate to say it, but you barely covered the differences between vulc and cupsoles and it wasn't worth uploading. There's way more to it than what flicks "better." Honestly this video felt like it was made by a new skater. I mean all of this as constructive criticism.
    Vulcanized shoes are flexible, easy to break in, have great board feel, and are generally cheaper than cupsole shoes. The downsides of vulcanized shoes is that they don’t offer much protection and support, which is a problem for older skaters or skaters that enjoy big gaps. Vulcanized shoes will also lack a midsole (technically there is a midsole, but it's so thin it might as well not be there) and have a thin outsole, making the insole do all of the work of impact protection and support (which is why some shoes like Vans Pros have super thick insoles). Some people do not like this and tend to seek aftermarket insoles. Many skaters doing flatground/tech will prefer vulcanized shoes because of the board feel benefit.
    Cupsole shoes offer better protection and support, as well as increased durability due to having more material. Cupsoles also have an insole, midsole, and outsole, which all work together to provide better protection and support that vulcanized shoes cannot. The downsides of cupsole shoes is they are stiff out of the box, they take a while to break in, they usually don’t offer great board feel, and they tend to cost more than vulcanized shoes.
    Different companies can also offer thin or thick vulc/cupsole shoes. ie Vans offers thick vulc shoes while Nike offers thin vulc shoes, and Lakai offers thin cupsoles while DC offers thick cupsoles.

    It's funny that the thing you most complain in every shoe review you fail to mention in this video, shock absorption is better in cupsole, it retains its shape for longer time (stiffness).
    But i think you fail to mention that with the purpose to makes us comment about that... good marketing move.
    With cupsole you lose some boardfeel, but you gain more consistent flick over time, even Chris Cole mention that in one of the Nine Club's.

    If your foot sits higher or lower on a shoe has nothing to do with the shoe being cupsole or vulc.This has to do only with the padding of the sole and the insole.
    Usually your foot sits lower on vulcs as the sole is made from a thinner layer and usually the insoles are not that thick(there are exceptions of course).For that reason(your foot sitting lower) we say that with vulc we are having better boardfeel.
    Cupsoles include usually more tech and indeed the foot sits higher than in vulcs.With cups you have better cushion and a bit less boardfeel although nowadays materials have improved a lot.
    For the flick, in vulcs, due to this extra layer of thermoplastic material, your toes are sitting 2-3 cm back from the edge of the shoe and this can affect your foot positioning when doing flip tricks.With cupsoles, flip tricks are usually more in point as your toes are closer to the edge of the shoe and as a result there is a more accurate flick.

    board feel - The bottom/outsole of vulcs is more flexible, meaning you're going to feel a lot more through the shoe.
    Stiffness/break-in time - cup soles are all one piece and they're carved instead of melted into shape, so generally they're going to stay stiffer longer and take more time to break in (I say generally, because eS is ridiculously soft).
