awesome build. and driven properly too. JAG is all about joy. many forgot this, that jag has racing genes and slowly gliding in the street is NOT the only way to drive these babies. hats of sir
stock 2.8xk .. well no. it's a 347cid sbf stroker efi, running with various engine management's, in this video a atom g4 ecu, 5 speed manual, fully rebuilt suspension with adjustable shocks and limited slip diff. 300x26mm rotors up front, stocks in the rear. formerly 500hp 620nm, in this video 444hp and 600nm due to very restrictive and quiet exhaust/manifolds and lack of x-pipe. It was on the dyno the same day so I'm not guessing, Runs on E85 fuel. Daily driver. I built it and lovin it
Actually quite a straightforward swap, the GM smallblock. And nice. We used to call those XJ6 v8 conversions "Poor mans Rolls Royce" in South Africa in the 70s and 80s. Good Job!!
There's something about a classic big-body sedan that's got three pedals and is set up to thrash sports cars. MAN I love this car!!! Does it have a build thread on the Jaguar forums or anything like that?
This is not a historical vehicle, nor it pretends to be One. I wanted something that handles right, looks right and sounds right and is super reliable, powerfull and brings smile to my ugly face. Xk4.2 and bw35 did not fit in the equation.
Looks wrong, won't handle right without smooth power, sounds bad and wrong and 'super reliable'... Considering I've got well north of 100k on my E type's 3.8 XK engine without problems, it seems to me that the stock engine is perfect. I personally smile when I enter a well sorted car where every part is of as high quality as the rest. Having a cheap 'n' nasty V8 in there just isn't right.
Foxtrot Oscar You do realize that a V8 motor with aluminum heads weighs less than the original XK motor and has a lower center of gravity=better handling...the pushrod V8 is arguably the easiest engine to build power with. Also the Jaguar XJ was originally created by Sir William Lyons with a V12 in mind which is heaver, makes less power, less fuel efficient, and much less reliable than a pushrod V8. The XK6 engine in your XKE is much different than the one fitted to the XJ6 and makes significantly less power. To be honest i would be very surprised to see a 6 cylinder XJ6 do a burnout like this ever. Most people that do these V8 conversions make more power and make better milage than the original engine.
inigwa16 No, I do not. Two reasons for that. One, it is impossible to realize anything, because that isn't even a word. There is no Z in realise. Two, there's no such thing as a V8 motor. They're AC or DC, single phase or three phase, but no V8, no XK. If you mean realise and engine, then bullshit. The XK was an iron block, ally head engine. Not light, but not overly heavy either. It was, after all, designed during WWII. 'A V8' could weigh 1000kg or 200kg. You didn't specify. An I6 can be mounted at an angle, as it was in the D type, giving the same low centre of gravity. An inline engine allows either longer front suspension arms, giving more control and more grip and better handling, or longer, straighter inlets and exhausts, giving more power and efficiency. This is good. It also makes maintenance easier. The inline six design is naturally balanced without counterweights, and fires in an even manner. No V8 is naturally balanced and most V8s need very large counterweights on the crank. This dulls performance, increases inefficiencies and makes the engine less revvy and less responsive. The odd firing order of the common V8 is also a performance and efficiency issue, and it can impart odd stresses to the engine, either causing it to prematurely fail, or requiring heavier construction. Pushrods are shit for power. They don't allow for more than two valves per cylinder very easily, variable valve timing is very difficult, maintenance is a bitch, the friction losses are much greater and the valves do not follow the cam profile so precisely, reducing efficiency. Also, it's far harder to get pushrod engines to rev high. The all aluminium 5.3 litre jaguar V12 was lighter than most similar sized V8s of the day. The quiet, smooth V12 was making, in 1972, 300hp from 5.3 litres. Many of the bigger '350s' in the US couldn't make that, and those that could were loud, pure performance engines. Performance V12s could easily make 400hp. Mine does. No 350s were doing _that_ in the 1970s. Heck, it took _massive_ 7 litre plus engines to make more than 400hp, and I'm making 400 with 5.3 litres. As for efficiency, the V12 hauled a big, luxury saloon around and returned 16mpg. Most 70s muscle cars can't match that. And as for reliability, the Jaguar V12 was a highly successful endurance racing engine, as well as winning Le Mans twice. Something no American V8 has done since the 60s. My own V12 is perfectly reliable day to day, even with over 300,000 miles on it. The engine in my E type is _more_ powerful than fitted to XJs. But it's only got a slightly different head and exhaust. It's mainly that the E type has three carbs and the XJs only had two, I believe. You can tune them up so easily. Even the 'baby' XJs, with the 2.8 litre, can do burnouts. However, the XJ is a big, comfy luxobarge. They're not _for_ burnouts. In fact, if you do a burnout in an XJ I automatically assume you're a massive bellend. Every single person who does a V8 conversion ends up with a car that is _worse_ than original. Less refinement, less smoothness, less control and composure. _Every single thing_ that Jaguar stand for is the exact opposite of what a V8 can offer.
+Foxtrot Oscar what a sour whiner. Why do you care? In fact how dare you? You don't like it? Geuss what, you can literally go ANYWHERE else in the world or internet other than here. I can't stand you purist idiots who have no idea what cars, or building them is about. EVERY factory car is a heap of compromise, that's why developmental and test cars are not only rare but sought after: they are what they should have been. The production car is not the perfect car from any standpoint. It's a mix of budget, quality and material availability and limits in technology at the time. I'm not going to call you jealous, I'm not going to endure a 'freedom of speech' bs argument either. You sir, are a fool who simply doesn't understand and wants to impose his will on others. You sir, are no gentleman, as I'm sure you see yourself as puttering down the road in your pristine factory car. Good for you! Glad you love it! Now leave others to do as they like as long as they aren't actually hurting anyone sod off!
Check for stress fractures in the diff carrier they are a weak point in the Jags. Best to reinforce it before it breaks especially if you do allot of burnouts
+Antti Hirvonen A big block works good in the old series 1, Its a bit of a squash. That is such a sweet ride though. Adding a turbo is another great way to go too.
Haha! Funny to se my old car like that. Used to be a 2.8 manual od. Put my (then) young soul into restoring it from a wreck. Don´t mind the donuts at all. This car´s been really unlucky; after these donuts it has been laying outside and almost perished but now I believe its being restored again.
That beautiful car, could be blasfemia but I dont think so. I appreciate sharing. 444 hp is a lot, 1510 kgs is not. I wish that car was mine.. Comfortable, quiet, strong.
Bravo! well done. nice work. Let the haters and purists (you know, like the Nazi's where) hate! Good looking car, great drivetrain. Most importantly: you love it! Excellent.
Tires are very much stock, so blame sir Lyons if you will. I also have period correct american racing torque thrust D's for the car, just not in this video. Crap engine? because?
Well, usually, Pirelli P4000s don't have white bands on them, so I doubt they're factory, more likely a dealer add-on. Also, it sounds.. bad. It sounds like a V8. If it is, then, well, of course it's crap. If it is a proper XK, then it needs attention! American Racing Torque Thrusd D's? Wheels? Not stock, at all. Not even close.
Well, I don't know what happened. Do you? I'm sure you know very well that donut is widely used in the U.S. Admittedly, doughnut is the preferred form outside the United States.
So you don't know, how doughnut is spelled in the U.S. How ignorant of you. And please don't say British English is the only real English, because it is not.
I own a last of the line series 3 V12 Daimler . I dont want the mileage to go over 30k . Its utterly new , nice and together as it left the factory . Its been all over the world to Japan and back again. As I stare in disbelief at the antics of this mindless moron at the wheel of the Jaguar , I hope the four horsemen of the apocalipse ride out in search of him . How could someone do such a dreadful thing to Gods own car ? A bit similar to electrifying a Stradivarious Violin and playing Irish Jig music with it or rescuing the Titanics crows nest telephone and ordering up a Macdonalds with it . like swigging cheap Lager from the Chalice , Its loutish behaviour and disrespectful .
What a real loser dragging a beat up broken shitbox of a jag out of hibernation and rebuilding the entire drivetrain and suspension and converting to injected v8 running on e85. Yeah. What a loser. Should have left it to rot like a non-loser would have likely done. Sorry.

Sounds just as beautiful as it looks
Sounds like a V8 to me not an inline-6. Care to explain how it's stock?? Actually I'm 100% positive that's a V-8, probably a CHEVY small block....
It's a 4l V6 atmosferic
@@AUSSIESPANIARD BULLSHIT!!
This is the best video on youtube
There's something about a classic big-body sedan that's got three pedals and is set up to thrash sports cars. MAN I love this car!!! Does it have a build thread on the Jaguar forums or anything like that?
Nate Chatigny this is just a pretty jag body with an ls swap and an auto come on now lol
I love this! Amazing build, the best of both worlds: luxury and class, and POWER
Mycket vackert, vilken motor har du bytt till?
They really are a beautiful looking car
I agree with Foxtrot Oscar. It's a nice car, but what the hell, that is not the sound of Jaguar 6, that is the sound of v8.
So ,,,,,,,, Beautiful
Video
But waiting Jaguar 4,2. It. Pretty u Hayes don’t stop Munster working)
Waiting
LS1 swap?
Good work, I was doing this in my xj40 only an hour ago.
I love all Jaguars XJ6 Series I and II

Jaguar xj: lady owner, well taken care of
Check for stress fractures in the diff carrier they are a weak point in the Jags.
Best to reinforce it before it breaks especially if you do allot of burnouts
I'd love to see a walkaround of that beautiful Jaguar.
What the f*ck are you doing to that beauty?!
All that's missing is the London Flying Squad coming behind in a Ford Granada
sounds like V8 powered, not straight 6 or v12
hi there love the ride height do you know what springs are in it?
Xj12 springs shortened 1,5 coils.
What motor is in it ?
this a Jag....How can a jag do this. It looks sooo wrong when a jag is doing donuts. So wrong.
I've could be wrong but it's sounds like a V8 engine or 4.2 inline 6 cylinder engine
that's so cool
Amazing Antti Thats your car and you drive it however you want well done it looks spot on
Maybe i should go for chevy bb just to piss people off.

Noooooo she's an old girl. Grace space pace. Not swinging her round like that lol
It's a wonder that lead sled could do that I have a 1982 4.2L XJ6 and I seriously doubt it could that
It's only 1510kg, excluding driver. 170kg less than with the original engine and gearbox. And it's been on scales so i'm not guessing.
Nice!
Bro whats under the hood of that S1?
480hp 347W, running on e85 + 5 speed box
Love IT! Im on yhe beginning od doing something Like that to my x300 ,but without engine swap, cant afford but i Hope my 4.0 R6 can also sound goos
The pilot is ok!

Spelt Doughnut wrong
Unfortunately you are mistaken. The form donut has been around for more than 100 years now.
