That high of a valuation with no sales in an EXTREMELY competitive industry is insane. This is one of those times where I definitely agree with a shark wanting a large chunk of the company for taking on the risk.

As a repeat entrepreneur, I can tell you this woman is overconfident. There's confident + realistic, and then there is unbridled belief that you're special. I hope she succeeds, because I want entrepreneurs to win, but I have my doubts in that crazy industry. Everyone who watches Shark Tank should remember that all Shark Tank products do receive a bump from exposure but that doesn't mean it's a good business. Just look at the number of business that are still sustaining itself. Most of them you'll notice still say "as seen on Shark Tank". Which mean they still rely on the Shark Tank association to grow. Now go look at Scrub Daddy... not that's a full blown business.
Every one of those little competitors have a similar story to her. Let's not bias ourselves just because we see her on here. You'll have people with better products, with cheaper products, with worse products, and more expensive products. Each one of them has a story. So, all I hope for is that she's able to get out if she needs to without problems. Her success means the failure of another drink, and I'd rather someone more humble and down to earth take the spot.

I'm in the beverage market, it's a brutal brutal space. She got her first taste when Cuban mentioned the contracts. You can literally have the best product in the world, but 80% of the time it's blocked by a 12 year contract with Pepsico, Coca Cola, etc. These companies actually pay the markets like Shoprite, Krogers, etc to keep that shelf space. I have no doubt this is a great product, but it's borderline impossible to break into the industry without a major picking you up. So many politics from the distribution side to the shelf spacing. Can't even license because all the majors already have a sports drink. Pepsi/Gatorade Coke/Powerade and Body Armor. Terrible investment.
Believe in yourself and keep pushing. We need small companies not just PepsiCo

@@Machinu5 Luckily, I'm attached to a major so I'm usually on the winning side of those contracts. But, it's easily the most brutal and cut throat business I've ever seen. Even a small percentage of times the majors will have non-competes in the contract. That if we make a boxed coconut water, it blocks anything similar. Like during the pandemic when we had allocation issues, that location had to sit there with an empty shelf because the product wasn't available and they weren't permitted to get anything similar. That's how iron clad those contracts are..
I'm sorry this might be an unpopular opinion but she came on a little too strongly. Like her confidence was borderline overconfident.
Not taking away anything from her product or her belief in it but with zero sales, she is just a salesperson trying to push the product onto the sharks.

The fact that the product is a sports drink and is competing with another product which uses a bolt, is ground enough to argue that consumers will be swayed to buy the new kid on the block simply because the public has the conditioned to liken a bolt on a sports drink to be Gatorade. Gatorade would easily win this fight.
Putting a Nike swoosh upsidedown or backward as a footwear would never fly, why? Because Nike owns that space.
@@samakin9804 It does matter if it's the same shape or not, Gatorade just lost a lawsuit to Electrolit for using a similar bottle and packaging, no trademarks here. The trademark was also accepted by the US and is in process. Gatorade does not own the lightning bolt trademark, what is has is a lightning bolt above the letter G or the word Gatorade, those are its trademarks. So to you guys assuming Gatorade has a case, no, you're wrong again.
Gatorade's Bolt24 launched in 2019 so if that new logo is not enough to claim a lightning bolt then nothing is.

The energy drink space is hyper competitive. That's not a good business for anyone without extremely deep pockets. I love her energy. She is all fire and i heart that so i hope she was successful with this but i have no doubt she will find her business.
What a lot of entrepreneurs fail to understand is when you bring these sharks or any investor a company that has no data or revenue; the risk for them increases significantly. The only reason she’s very confident is because she has those connections with high profile celebrities or Sports players. If she didn’t have her background to her name, they would’ve all been out from the get go. Without that, it’s 100% risk and you have no credence if it’s going to work. These people can recognize risk from a mile away, and the fact this entrepreneur failed to realize that almost cost her a deal. Though Barbara did a deal with her, it was based on a contingency of wether she could uphold her deal to market her product with the high profile player.
Exactly, just look up her name and you'll see she's already well-off and established. She's being arrogant here because she doesn't need their money and she knows it. This was more of a marketing play than anything. The product site already has "as seen on Shark Tank" in the title lol. If this was anyone else the sharks would've walked all over them
