Oh it annoys me. To see all those egotistical rappers out there so successful and full of themselves; when it's THIS GUY who deserves the success. Once again Luke, you've knocked it outta the park! I don't know how you made a rap so emotional and thought-provoking when the rap's about a anthropomorphic fox who dogfights in space alongside a bird, a rabbit and a frog. But you did it! And it was awesome :)

    • @yungtown
      @yungtown  8 ปีที่แล้ว +73

+The Unusual Suspect Haha thank you man. Star Fox has one of most relatable conflicts within his family life... we've all been there. we've all lost someone special. I often wondered if Fox was always this super courageous, fearless, talented leader? He had to have taken the news really hard when he heard his dad, his hero, was presumed dead... The emotion in this song was summoned by the same experience when one of my family heroes passed away. My Grandfather. Which is where even that whole dream thing came from... I'd have like dreams that he was still alive, but I was the only one in the dreams that knew he wasn't there. While my dream family was all "Luke go talk to your grandfather!"... Such a weird heart breaking phenomenon.

+yungtown I hear ya. My grandfather passed away last year to cancer (#fuckcancer) and ever since then I've been walking a path to self-improvement in my life. Health, education, career... all for him. He was a hero to me as yours was to you. Keep on doing what you do. ::thumbs up::

Yeah, this got to me, man. My dad passed away 10 years ago this August. While not every line directly relates to my relationship with my father and how I've dealt with it over the years, it still has me contemplating how I feel about it all. 10 years, still thinking about what it all means. Never goes away. This rap clearly comes from a personal place, maybe not about your relationship with your dad, but the general idea behind how one copes with this kind of loss is a pretty accurately depicted.

Today, someone sent me a Star Fox meme of Fox McCloud, saying "The name's Fox. Fox McCloud. My father is DEAD." and I wanted to send them "that one rap from a long time ago" as a reaction to see how they'd act.
Went to TH-cam searching for this StarFox Rap. There was some other rap posted recently, and I was worried the one I sought was gone... But after some digging but I found it.
    This.
This is the rap I was looking for. This rap has captivated my soul. I always forget the name (and now I realize it doesn't have one, stupid me!), but I never forget the song. Man. Already been awhile.
I dunno why, it's a sad song. But it always makes me feel a solemn happiness to listen to it.
    Thank you, Yungtown Luke.
God bless. Or, I suppose, "good luck" as Pepper would say.

dude, this hits home. starfox 64 is my favorite game ever and i lost my grandfather, one of my few father figures growing up, not too long ago. thank you so much yungtown, for making such amazing art. not just "geek humor" influenced raps with puns about the game or the community, but rather, emotionally impacting works that make you think about the plot or the people involved in the creation of the game. you're exceptionally rare in this TH-cam world of arrogant game reviewers and musicians just trying to make a quick buck. thanks for being passionate. stay rad, luke

I've always felt that tinge of sadness in that menu theme. It gives me chills on multiple levels, and I think it was the perfect choice as a sort of backdrop or basis for this song. Loved the idea behind it, too. Having lost my grandfather last year to cancer, this also hit me the way I think you intended it to, and so I'll just say great job, Luke. You've nailed it again. Thanks.

I just want to say, really and truly, thank you for releasing this.
Not only was it an incredible song, with really touching lyrics, the subject matter is so, so relatable.
It was my grandfather's would-have-been 86th birthday only two days ago, and he was my hero. I looked up to him more than anybody else, and the last verse of this song hit me so hard, I couldn't help but break down-- but in a good way.
It just goes to show how fleeting life actually is, and that we should take every moment we can to tell the ones we love just how much they mean to us.
Thank you again, Yungtown. This was truly beautiful.

Basically what I felt when my dad left us for two years so he could get a job... man, he left two months after I broke my femur, I had to spend the rest of the year working on the whole "I need start walking again" deal. Spending two years alone with my mom while my dad was in the other side of the country was soul crushing. And seeing him again... getting to see this ghostly form of a man drained from his job who only appeared occasionally to fight with my mother or to barely talk with me... man, when in he visited it was the worst. He has depression and shit, that kind of fucks him up a lot.
But man, when he was fired from BIRD... that changed the world for us. He came back home (a bit depressed, but nothing that some quality time with his family wouldn't solve) and in no time I got my dad back. I'm so glad his depression didn't get the best of him and that he made up with mom after all those fights.
If anyone is having a hard time or something like this... dude, we need to grow up from this. I'm incredibly lucky for having a stable family, but I know the pain of wanting your dad to come back home when he is obviously not. I mean, at least in rare occasions I got to see my dad, so maybe I don't really know how hard it is to deal with this kind of shit. ]
But still... much love to you all

This song hit me on a personal level...having lost my father at 9 years old. now at 18, i still have a bunch of problems coping as the feelings return and lead me into a state of depression, and it causes flashbacks of when i looked out my bedroom window, and saw him being hauled off on a stretcher after collapsing in the kitchen from a ruptured artery, and cracked his head open over the table...this song is amazing because it is something I and several others can relate to. I rate it a 10/10. It accurately explains the feelings of losing someone you love.
