Finding balance and navigating creativity after a critique

- Critiques can often leave us unmotivated and not wanting to work. Constantly being questioned about why we make our work can sometimes be confusing to the artists themselves. Stepping back and getting inspiration from the world around us usually helps me escape that art rut after a long crit. My friend had a book opening this weekend, and it was exactly what I needed after my critique. Being out reminded me that, as artists, we put so much pressure on ourselves. After all, we're constantly being judged; however, at the end of the day, we're the ones making the work, and if we're happy doing what we love, that's all that truly matters. Being surrounded by a supportive friend group and a strong art community is essential for success!
Love your work! As far as professors’ opinions…
Way back when (many, many, many years ago)- I was at a Christian college, thinking about going into youth ministry (I didn’t). The saying was, those who can’t preach, teach. I can’t help but think the same in art - if you can’t produce art, teach art. I guess what I’m trying to say is, don’t let the “guidance” of “experts” steer you from what feels right for you. Art comes from within, and you definitely have the heart of a true artist. ❤❤
And I love where the new piece is going!
This is amazing! Love the way you put it. Thank you so much I appreciate it :)
fantastic video, watched and enjoyed till the end ❤❤❤
Thank u so much!! I appreciate u! :)
this is superb
So excited for that next painting!
So am I!! Can’t wait to finish it :)
☺👏
Have you considered using gesso to prime to prime your surfaces. I tint my gesso with acrylic paint. The gesso keeps the surface from absorbing so much paint which saves paint. You will need multiple layers of gesso since you use raw canvas.
Awesome, thank you for the tip!
Hey Alex! Beautiful work once again🤍 would love to know if and how I could possibly purchase a print of your airbrush pieces I’m so obsessed😭😭😭
Hi!! Thank you so much for your support! I currently do not have prints available but it’s definitely been a thought!
