Watches I kinda should sell but don't really want to but might or not depending on...

- In my collection there are definite keepers. Then there are others that I really appreciate for certain elements and that are collectibles probably (in a way every watch is) but that I just don't wear much. And collecting isn't wearing, but I often get the feeling that I should just keep the ones that I both love the most and wear the most because... I don't have infinite funding!
Let me know what you think of all this and if you see something you like in my list of watches I'd be ready to part with for the right price to the right buyer, than shoot me an email at uptickwr@gmail.com.
I don't bite, don't worry.
Thanks for watching my incoherent videos. It's therapy for me. Hope it helps you too. You're not alone!
You buy all the watches, so we don't have to
Ahhh Hong Kong and it’s watch market rabbit hole. Sucks you in and leaves you dry and depleted. Luckily, watches are somewhat liquid. Even luckier, Uptick can make videos from this wonderland.
Half the time, when I’m watching an Uptick review, I think the watch must be on loan even when there’s no mention of it, but you really do have a ridiculously large (and varied) collection!
I remember when you sold the Datejust II and thought that was a mistake-glad you rebought it, it suits you. You have a great collection that most watch collectors would dream of having but I believe less is more. It’s easy to tell a collector what to sell if he has bad taste but in your case that’s impossible 😎! Good luck 🍀 and best regards.
Looking forward to discovering more from you. Light and blessings.
“Enjoying the ownership…” very well said 👏
That Zenith is timeless. It's so stunning and unique. Hard to comprehend how people chase and massively overpay for Rolexes when watches like Chronomaster T is out there for a fraction of the price.
Uptick, Been following you for years and I remember commenting on your 2021 (I think) version of these lamentations. I suggested at the time that you pare all the way back to your Patek and start again slowly. Advice still holds. Cheers Mon Ami.
You have great taste!
Such a great collection. But that’s the real definition of collecting. You can’t feel bad, you know it’s time to sell off. It’s that pulling feeling to buy more watches, being able to sell some not getting wrist time is our way of justifying buying new for more experiences. I wish I had that inventory and problem.
I understand your feeling completely. It happens to me with watches that I felt didn't have enough "substance".
Happened to me with a lot of microbrands and a couple vintage or old watches that I had.
To be honest, no regrets. Consolidated a less broad but more powerful collection.
Bonjour,
Wonderful collection. Every watch looks pristine. Personally, I’d just keep all of them!!
The Zenith speaks to me. A lot.
Another great video . . . thoughtful and smart, with real insight into how collectors think and feel. These exact thoughts roll through my mind on a daily basis as I analyze how to manage my collection. Thanks!
Totally get the pain! I think without clear delineation and discipline a collection can get too broad. Then one looks up and asks "err, why?" I've hit on a new strategy and been more disciplined this year. I'm moving to a 10 piece 'Rotation' (which coincidentally share many similarities with your core keepers) that meets my wearing needs and is split 70:30 between sport and dress; 50:50 between standard and high horology. Then a 'Collection (big 'C')' which for me is divers and may yet boil down to just Sea-Dwellers. My amorphous, 'buy what you like' 'collection (small 'c')' is on the rack and with great pain is going to be slowly sold/gifted. Anyway, maybe try asking yourself which aspect of watches you really love most and can get way too geeky about and try that rabbit hole for size? But hey, it's a journey and they can always be sold. But never regret.
You have the K. Chayken monster set at 10:10
That's funny 🤣😂
so many beautiful watches
I’m not sure what makes me smile more ….. your fabulous collection or the upbeat French start 🤗
This video is straight-up fire! You're spitting some real knowledge, and I'm all for it. You're a real scholar, and you're doing a great job of making complex concepts accessible to the masses. It's clear that you've got a deep understanding of the subject matter, and you're able to communicate it in a clear and concise way. You're not afraid to express yourself authentically. You're a role model people everywhere, and I'm glad to see you using your platform to educate and empower others. It was so good, I had to leave a review. I'm not one of those fake ass bots, I'm a real person, and I'm telling you, this video is the real deal.
very good video.. I like the Zenith.
Difficult decisions - that Zenith is lovely by the way. My dream collection is everything Buvet has ever made but I'd probably never actually wear them, it's not necessary for a watch to be worn or even wearable to be enjoyed imho. And then there's the dreaded sellers remorse - does anyone find themselves reminiscing about a girlfriend from their youth and thinking what if?
Constantly...
You have a very good eye beautiful collection
I’ve been eyeing that exact Zenith for almost one year. Many examples seem to be in Japan for some reason.
This dilemma reminds me of the one I recently arrived at, in my watch collecting...
The more watches I buy the less I can wear the others.
Carlos
I conclude that you gotta push it until you've had enough and tried everything you needed to get out of your system, then you sell the excess and keep a couple of watches at each price point. Then wait for the Journe and Patek boutiques to call.
Wow nice collection love it
The Omegas are 🤩
keep most of your rolex (all steel sport), select & keep 1 dressy Pateck, the Chopard, maybe the Cartier, 1 tudor for travelling and sell all the rest (too exotic regarding designs).
Yea, we have to sell them sonner or later, otherwise somebody else will……thats life,
Hi Val, what are your thoughts on the 36mm wimbledon? Do you find the dial too crowded because of its size?
I can't wear 36mm personally but so many people are happy with this classic size that it may find back in fashion. If your wrist is small or rounded it might be ok. Try any 36mm OP or DJ and you will know
Interesting video and great collection. Where did you find the Chopard Worldtimer at half of retail? I've long admired that watch at well, but haven't been able to find one at a sufficient discount.
Just found one locally. I waited a year for the chance and then some more until seller threw in the towel
Amazing collection... that reverso is stunning. You mentioned liking the Tudor Pepsi... how is the quality compared to your Rolex watches? I struggle with pulling the trigger because of the old stigma...
I totally get the title of this video 😅
No worse feeling then selling off pieces, especially ones you've had great adventures and memories with. But, it sometimes has to be done.
These are your visitor watches. You really like them and enjoy them being around but you know aren’t the long term keepers.
The watches that aren’t your keepers or visitors are the catch and release watches.
Uptick, I think you should aim for selling the simple three handers first. These are easily replaceable. Take it from there
Very nice collection!
Best of luck with the sale. By the way what’s your Carousell ID?
Keeping the core collection at 8-10 pieces
I wouldn’t let these go if I don’t need the money urgently as the watch market is down. It’s the time to buy from the gray, not to sell it to them.
I feel the pain though. I got like 30 watches and wear 10% about 90% of the time.
What's the reference of the Zenith? Please and thank you!
That's an El Primero Chronomaster T
Planning to sell the Wimbledon dial Rolex too?
Never. That's a keeper's keeper. Especially being a tennis freak
Hi on my view you should sell the Chopard , the red omega , the sinn, the garrick? , the Cartier and the GS for the right price . And let’s not forget there will be soon a bloodbath in the world markets and nobody will be safe 😢
Is this finnish accent?
Lol, you value omega less than patek? LOL I think so does the rest of the world )) But it is strange to hear that for a patek owner 11K is a lot of money. Just saying )
