    Thanks so much for doing this. Getting back into watches after paring down my collection four years ago. I picked up the summer series model about two weeks ago. Initially, I was going to get the 1957 heritage version, as my interest in the watch included a desire to get something new that paid homage to a design started in my birth year. Your remarkable accounting of what’s transpired with the watch was exactly what I was looking for and it just popped up! Great work and thank you again.

      I'm a "veteran" (>50 years) of Rolex, Omega, and JLC, ... I'm "guessing" that the "weight" of the lume and metal puts stress on the hand(s), which (possibly) breaks off after 50 years. I've got a bunch of old watches with broken hands (Longines, Omega...not Rolex). I briefly worked for Omega..." they" wouldn't answer my "trivial" question, but I believe it's the reason Omega hasn't budged on a redesign back to the popular sword hands! Fellow Omegans, thoughts?

    Not including the 2254.50 and the 2230.50 completely ignores the entire Peter Blake era of the Seamaster. This video has a glaring gap from 1996-2014. It’s disappointing that there was no effort to connect the MOD dial template originally used on the 165.024 to the modern 2254.50.

The 2531.80 Brosnan featured in this video has the same name on the Omega website as the 2254 along with the same case and movement. If Omega has them listed as the same, how did you come to your conclusion that they belong to different ranges?

    • @AmitBhandari82
      @AmitBhandari82 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@mmagbie1 the video was focusing on the history of the Seamaster 300. The Brosnan one was just briefly mentioned and they did emphasize even in the video that they're talking about the 300 line, and not the 300m. They are distinct models. The 2254 (one of my faves of all time btw), is a 300m which is why they never went into all the different variants of the 300m.

    • @mmagbie1
      @mmagbie1 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@AmitBhandari82you have precisely illustrated my criticism. I do not see the value in including the Pierce Brosnan 300M if they are not going to include the rest of the 300M references. What value do you see in its contribution? It is represented as bridge between older models and the 2014 edition. This video appears rushed, incomplete, and undisciplined for a true Seamaster 300 reference collection. The repeated mistakes referring to a 165.024 as a 0:22 164.024 were glaring. This did not feel like a reference collection that should have been handled in-house but instead Hodinkee should have brought in a true expert.

    The modern Seamaster 300 still isn’t quite there yet. There’s too much negative space. Get it down a mm to 40mm with 20mm lugs. Improve the bezel action. Print the 3,6, 9. Use AR only on the underside and flatten out the top of the boxed sapphire crystal. Use flat link bracelet but improve the clasp. Offer up some references without the “old radium” aged or custard lum. There’s so much more they can do.

      Have you ever seen it in the metal? I’ve been thinking about buying it for years, and I’ve yet to meet someone who can give me some real world feedback about it:(

      @@netanelostrov3425 I've seen a copy homage and it was very good so I imagine the real thing is very nice.

      Those dials would look terrible with stark white indices. I think people who don't care for the "off white" (retiring the word fautina) should look at brands that have no imagination. Maybe if they went back to radioactive lume folks would be happier lol.
