Hmmm I think tinted version is for people with darker skin tone. Because the tinted really works on me, while the usual version made my face looks like I'm wearing white powder on my face.
HAve you never tried their old version? It is definitely heavier than the Asian ones, but I wear it everyday in summer (I am always outside for a prolonged period of time as I cycle to work and back)
I don’t really understand why French brands make their tinted products so dark. To be fair, they could do with 3-5 shades but since the product doesn’t leave a white cast, having a tinted version isn’t the most necessary. If people want the iron oxides, for the theoretical, unquantifiable HEV protection, they are only accommodating for a narrow range of light medium with orange undertones skin
I have very dark skin (type 5 or 6) and this tint works extremely well for me. It’s actually the first tinted sunscreen that works well for me. Tbh, very fair skin tones don’t need the blue light protection offered by iron oxides as much as darker (medium +) skin tones bc blue light doesn’t cause pigmentary issues on fair skin tones as it does on darker ones. Fair skin has a lot of options for tinted sunscreens- I’m glad dark skin has this one. Also, this is more salmon colored than orange as far as the tint goes, which is why I think this works for dark skin
I enjoy both versions of this product....I layer the tinted version on top.... Good protection... Tested it many times. .. IF you wonder about the shade.. treat it slowly...layer it slowly until you reach a color that is "suitable" for your skin tone, it is never perfect.... Some protection is better than nothing
Using it for over a decade now, the older formulas and the new one ♥️ Though, Eucerin ones (particularly Photoaging one) have improved their formulas and texture. Alternating between those two.
Hi Dr Anne I really wish I could use this, but my rosacea and eczema prone skin hates the chemical spf's from LRP - even the baby ones are not tolerable on the face, but can be used on the body for me. I struggle with using "chemical" filters tbh, but I seem to tolerate Ultrasun on an occasional basis and use it for days I will have more than incidental exposure (I use mineral spf most days for that reason). I also struggle with a high amount of alcohol in spf's, although I understand their purpose in these products eg better dry down, penetration and spread etc. This does seem to be causing a fair bit of excitement in the spf market, but as with most of the more hyped spf's isn't something I can use. I do wish I could (as they offer more protection than my mineral spf can), but I need to use what works for me. I am glad that those who loved the older version aren't disappointed in this new version, as often reformulations can be very different in texture and performance. Best wishes.
What matters most is that you found one you can wear. Sunscreen is just one part of th equation, being mindful about other forms of protection plays a huge role too. But I understand that it is really annoying if you want to use them, but can't. THank you for always sharing your perspective on products as someone with rosacea, that is really helpful.
Thank you Dr Anna! I'm still using my Anthelios 30 but when it's done I want to try the tinted 50+. I did notice that some if not many La Roche Posay products contain Alcohol Denat. and that scares me a little bit because so many people say it's very drying when used on the long term. Do you think I should worry about the alcohol denat. in these sunscreens?
hey Dr Anne, I recently started researching LRP sunscreens and it seems that they have the most innovative and broad filters! However, I dont understand why reviewers on TH-cam dont mention or focus on the fact that alcohold denathol is the second ingredient in most of the sunscreens of LRP? And isnt it that if alcohol is the second, that means that the amount of alcohol is very high? Also, doesnt, alcohol denat. damage skin barrier ? Curious about your thoughts of it!:)
Thanks, Dr for that review. Just discover your channel! I love the LRP sunscreen it’s perfect for my oily skin. However, it feels like just a simple SPF without benefits (No Niacinamide, hyaluronic acid…) Am I right? is it really moisturizing? Thank you in advance ☺️
They do contain Glycerin, which is a humectant, so you get your hydration there. Other than that I think it is best to keep your SPF dedicated to SPF and use a serum if you want additional skin benefits of for example Nacinamide. Or you go for Asian sunscreens that are more of a sunscreen/ moisturizer hybrid, but often you don't get as much protection due to the lack of being water resistant there.
@@m.k.6143 That was an incident that involved one manufacturer using a loophole and producing for different companies The loophole has since been closed and similar things have happened for Western brands in the past, but never got as much traction. So while I understand where you are coming from, I wouldn't worry too much.
Is this the one sold in UK? Do you know what is different between this one & version sold in Australia (that I’m considering paying a whopping $30 shipping cost to get to US). I got the impression from cosmetic chemist, and TH-camrLab Muffin Beauty that the Australian formula is superior. Do you know about this? I tried comparing filters and there do seem to be some differences. (La Roche Posay was no help at all; they won’t connect on products outside of their country.) I can’t tell what version Stylevana is selling. It seems the UK version is called LA ROCHE POSAY ANTHELIOS UVMUNE 400 INVISIBLE FRAGRANCE-FREE FLUID SPF50+ 50ML vs Australia version being called the La Roche Posay ANTHELIOS INVISIBLE FLUID FACIAL SUNSCREEN SPF 50+. Thanks so much for any help.
I buy the one available in Germany and haven't looked into other versions of this, but to my understanding the formula is the same everywhere except the US, where the filters used aren't approved. But again, I haven't looked into that specifically. Different names can be due to different naming regulations and don't necessarily indicate differences in the product.
Hi Dr,Im also doctor in Turkey and you’re such an inspiration for me💕I have oily and rosacea prone skin and sunscreens dont absorbed from my skin(even if they are waterbased or noncomedogenic)would you recommend this sunscreen for me?thanks!🌸🥰😇
That is hard to say, especially with rosacea, as some people have inorganic or chemical filters as triggers. It is also water resistant, meaning it is a heavier formula than others. The only way to know for sure is to try, preferably the unscented version.
I have oily skin with rosacea, perioral dermatitis, melasma, acne and so no....basically terrible skin, lol and I really like Bioderma Photoderm nude touch SPF 50+ as well as LRP mattifying oil control SPF 50+. Hope it helps :)
La Roche Posay always seem to come out well in Sunscreen reports but unfortunately I will never try them because of their and their parent company, L'Oreal's lack of cruelty free status, but that is my personal choice I accept. Dr Anne Is their a relative easy way to compare the different UVA measuring systems , PA , PPD, "++++" , "*" etc. Is each system adopted a choice of the company, the rules of the country of manufacture , the rules of the country in which it is sold or another option??? I can appreciate that a product with more "+'s" or "*'s " is better than one with less, but is 5 "+'s" better or worse than 5"*'s" or are they not able to be compared like that at all even in the loosest sense? Confusion rules , in my eyes at least!
It is indeed very confusing. I have a video on the different measurements and they are to some point comparable, but the PPD gives you the most detailed information. As they aren't determined exactly the same way though (some are in vitro and some are in vivo), it gets even more confusing. I really wish there was a more concise way. Here ist the video: th-cam.com/video/iDabcDnimEM/w-d-xo.html

Hey i Just watched your video about Post inflammatory Erythema . Do you think using benzoylperoxide on it ist a good Idea? Thought i might get an answer Here faster than on an old Video 😅 thanks for your effort
I do answer on old videos as well, but: BPO is really irritating, so while I think it plays an important role in treating acne to prevent lesions and PIE, I would look for other things to tackle the PIE itself. But it depends on how your individual skin reacts in the end.

I agree, I never found a tinted SPF from any French brand that wasn't way too orange, and I am not even THAT pale.
there is a French tinted spf that is in a lighter shade, its Bioderma Photoderm AR spf 50 in shade Naturelle

So you use the untainted version and then the tinted on top for some added color? I think that might work indeed.
I felt this a bit shinnier and longer to set in vs the previous version. I still love it though, it's my default when I feel I'll have more exposure.
