    As doctor passionate about skin care that delivers results and about well aging, I want to help you quickly and efficiently pick a skin care regime that works, by explaining the science behind skin and by sharing quick product reviews.
    I am a big believer that creating a skincare routine that targets your specific concerns is not a matter of your budget. There are many great affordable brands out there: The Inkey List, Good Molecules, Geek & Gorgeous or pixi skincare to name a few of my favorites, and if you know how to combine them, you are well on your way to healthy and happy skin.
    Healthy and happy skin does not mean "flawless" - whatever that might be. I have been struggling with acne, hyperpigmentation and postinflammatory erythema (PIH and PIE) for most of my adult life, and it took me a while to figure out that gentle is key. I went through a retinol damaged skin barrier, acne flare ups and sun damage until I finally reached my happy place: With Tretinoin, sunscreen and of course a red lipstick!

    My sensitive oily skin usually hates chemical sunscreens, so I was quite surprised that this one works really well for me! No itching, no irritation, no eye stinging - it really feels like a moisturizer. It's dewy, but not excessively so. For now it's my sunscreen of choice. In the summer, I might go back to mineral sunscreens, but I find them too drying in the dry winter air, and the BoJ sunscreen is a much better option.

    Nice review. I noticed you mentioned Uvinul A Plus and Tinosorb S as the main UVA filters, but doesn’t this also contain Tinosorb M? Never in my life have I experienced a Tin M containing sunscreen that didn’t leave a cast on my (very pale) skin and have the particles settle in my facial hair. Like the ones from Avène and Bioderma. In your demonstration it doesn’t seem to leave a cast, was that also your experience when reapplying?

    • @DoctorAnne
      @DoctorAnne  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It doesn't leave a cast, even with reapplication on my skin. You can see it for a few minutes when you apply it generously, but that disappears completely.

    • @Radjehuty
      @Radjehuty ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes this video was inaccurate. It contains Uvinul A Plus, Tinosorb M, Uvinal T 150 and Uvasorb HEB. Uvinal A Plus and Tinosorb M both cover UVA II and I and Uvasorb HEB covers in to some UVA II. If you have pale skin this won't leave a cast on you assuming you aren't applying an obscene amount. I have Fitzpatrick type 2 and it leaves no trace on me.

    • @DoctorAnne
      @DoctorAnne  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, we are. The skin around the eyes is very thin and prone to UV damage, so spf there is great for prevention. That obviously means you need a sunscreen that won't sting the eyes or cause other problems like milia. For me the new organic (aka chemical) formulas are great for that, but it depends on what is available to you.
      Wearing shades with UV protection also helps.

    Hello, I have an important question about sunscreen and was hoping you could help me out. It is about the temperature of which sunscreen should be stored and whether the cold causes the sunscreen to turn less effective. I live in London and it is very cold here in the winter, I just brought a sunscreen and although I have left it in my room inside my make up bag, it still feels so cold. Would this make it less protective when I use it, or would it have to be extremely icy kind of cold to cause it to really break down?

    • @DoctorAnne
      @DoctorAnne  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The products you can buy are tested for stability and performance at room temperature, so assuming that your room has a temperature that is warm enough to live in (even if with the current energy costs that is 18°C rather than 22°C), it should be fine. When you feel like the texture changes, then that might hinder performance.

    I have two favorite SPF creams that I use daily. In the morning I apply Beauty of Joseon and for reapplying during the day I use Supergoop unssen SPF 30 3-4 times a day, (it doesn't peel off, I feel the skin light and natural). Can I expose my face to the sun while swimming or being at the beach during the summer while I use tretinoin?
    I‘m using tretinoin only once a week during this summer time and put on a sun blocker, but still my skin feels a little burned although it was exposed to the sun only about 20 minutes. Are there any tips how to avoid sun burns during summer when the skip is directly exposed to the sunlight?

      I use my Tretinoin all year round (I made a video about that here: th-cam.com/video/RkWWWLU9YbY/w-d-xo.html ), but the general rules apply: Avoid midday sun, wear broad spectrum SPF (I don't know which sun block you used) and wear a hat/ seek shade when possible. It also depends on where you go, I went to Mexico once and burned within 20 minutes (not using Tretinoin), but I can be in France and outdoors all day without burning.

    So this sunscreen has sufficient UVA protection?
    Just asking because I’ve read that Japanese/Korean sunscreens don’t have as high of protection as European sunscreens and PA++++ = PPD of just 16+ and the P20 Kids sunscreen I’ve been using is like 40 something PPD. BOJ sunscreen is the best I’ve tried as far as cosmetic elegance but just wondering if it’s enough uva protection.

    • @DoctorAnne
      @DoctorAnne  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That depends on how you define "enough". I think a PPD of more than 16 is good for everyday, but if you are struggling with melasma, something with more would probably be better. If you wear enough and reapply that is, which many people don't if their SPF of choice isn't as cosmetically elegant. If that was a European SPF with the UVA symbol, you'd know that the PPD would be 20 (1/3 of the SPF, and 50+ is usually considered SPF 60), but many brands don't tell you more than that.
      I have not noticed any darkening of my pigmentation while wearing this one, but that was here in Germany in Spring without any trips to the beach or long hiking in the midday sun.

    Keine Ahnung ob die Frage hier Sinn macht. Aber sind Koreanische Sonnencremes auch gut für den Sommer in Europa geeignet ? Wegen der Intensität der Sonne hier ?

    • @DoctorAnne
      @DoctorAnne  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Das ist eine sehr sinnvolle Frage, aber keine, die ganz einfach zu beantworten ist. Grundsätzlich gilt: SPF 50 ist SPF 50, also ja. Aber (!) die meisten asiatischen Sonnencremes sind nicht Wasser-/ schweißresistent, also reiben sich wenn man schwitzt leichter ab als z.B. La Roche Posay UVMune. Zusätzlich muss man auf die Höhe des UVA-Schutzes in Betracht ziehen, der oft im unteren Bereich von PA++++ liegt und damit nur 1/3 von dem ist, den LRP UVMUNE z.B. hat.
      Am ehesten also: Es kommt darauf an, was Du machst, also ob Du draußen Beachvolleyball spielst oder im klimatisierten Büro sitzt, und darauf, wie stark Du unter Pigmentstörungen leidest und daher auf hohen UVA-Schutz angewiesen bist.
      Ich mache es so: Im Herbst, Frühling und Winter trage ich täglich Asiatische Sonnencremes mit Ausmachen von langen Wanderungen oder Dingen wie Skifahren o.ä., im Sommer trage ich immer LRP UVMUNE (mag ich einfach am liebsten) und asiatische Sonnencremes zum TopUp während des Tages.
      Hilft das weiter?

    • @amina1311
      @amina1311 ปีที่แล้ว

      Okay. Also ist es ausreichend für Herbst/Winter/Frühling aber man sollte im Sommer auf europäische setzen ?
      Dann bin ich mir wegen dem ganzen Hype doch etwas unsicher. Macht es dann nicht Sinn wieso diese Sonnencremes in Korea für koreanisches Wetter ausgelegt sind? Weil ich dann mit mehr UV Schaden am Ende vom Sommer rechnen muss ( habe in einem review gelesen, dass die betroffene Person Sommersprossen mit Anwendung bekommen hat und diese vorher nicht da waren also durch die Sonne)als mit einer europäischen Sonnencreme?
      Für mich ist dann der einzige Grund die Formulierung der koreanischen Sonnencremes da speziell in Deutschland die Sonnencremes oft sehr fettig sind und auch schlecht formuliert :(

    • @DoctorAnne
      @DoctorAnne  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@amina1311 Es ist ein vielschichtiges Thema, dass auch viel damit zu tun hat, wie man seinen Tag verbringt und worauf man besonderen Wert legt. Historisch gesehen sind europäische Sonnencremes für Outdoor-Sport/ Strand etc. gemacht, weil niemand auf die Idee gekommen wäre, sie im Winter im Büro zu tragen. Sie sind also eher "schwer" und dafür wasser- und schweißresistent. In Asiatischen Ländern hat man viel früher mit täglich Sonnenschutz angefangen, das geht aber nicht, wenn man ein schweres Produkt hat. Es gibt auch dort anders formulierte Sonnencremes für z.B. den Strand, die bei uns aber nicht so populär sind wie die leichten. Ich bin (wegen Kindern und auch so) jeden Tag und viel draußen, außerdem neige ich zu Pigmentflecken, also greife ich im Sommer zu einer Sonnencreme, die den bestmöglichen Schutz bietet, aber nicht so angenehm ist. Das möchte ich aber nicht das ganze Jahr, also nehme ich, wenn die Sonnenintensität nachlässt, eine andere. Wenn Du auch im Sommer den größten Teil des Tages drinnen bist, am besten noch in klimatisierten Räumen, in denen Du nicht schwitzt, kannst Du auch die leichteren Sonnencremes nehmen. Wichtiger ist sowieso, dass Du überhaupt eine trägst, und auch eine ausreichende Menge.
      Dass man gegen Ende des Sommers die Hautschäden sieht, hat etwas damit zu tun, dass sie sich langsam entwickeln und offensichtlicher werden, wenn die restliche Bräune nachlässt. Die meisten Pigmentflecken in meinem Gesicht habe ich aus der zeit vor >20 Jahren, als ich ohne Schutz in die Sonne gegangen bin. Und sie verschwinden ja nie, wenn ein Fleck da ist, kann er verblassen, aber wenn er Sonne abbekommt, kommt er Immer wieder.

      I am sorry I made a mistake speaking to the camera in a language that is not my native one that I only detected during the editing process and corrected, but I'd say that happens to the best of us.
      What should not happen to any of us is being such a twat in the comments over it - I am sorry that happened to you, I hope you will be able to fix it in the future...
