  • In this series I'm going back to that classic electric guitar the Telecaster and recreating this iconic instrument from bits and pieces I have in the workshop.

5.0 out of 5 stars A good read. Well done Dave

This is a well put together story. Lots of seemingly unconnected plot lines all come together in a very satisfying conclusion.
    5.0 out of 5 stars A real page-turner

With this ingenious basis for a mystery story, D K Dickens has has come up with a plot that will keep you riveted till the last page. Unputdownable.
TH-cam comment: I've read it and really enjoyed it, a real page-turner. It's got everything, romance, gangsters, nasty big Corp, suspense all wrapped up in a great plot. You might know that a musician and guitar maker would also make a great author. Well done!

I've paused the video at 12:35 to say that staining the body is a great idea! (edited). Came back after watching the rest of the video to say I love what you've done with this build. And this is the first guitar building (or even woodworking) video I've watched in ages. Makes me wish I had time to continue with my Jurgs Cup 2023 build (left untouched since April). Watching what you did makes me all the more determined to get back to it when I can... hopefully in August.

There’s no point in rushing a guitar, your Jurgs build will wait 👍. Thank you! Cheers Dave

I really enjoyed this video. Thanks Dave.
A few years ago i was trying to make something similar, i even made my own truss rod!
The problem was body, which i used some random wood for it, that wood smells really really good but it was not dry enough. And after few month started bending like crazy.
I still have the neck to this day. And it is just fine. But body was too far gone.
Someday i will make another body for it.

Looks and sounds pretty nice Dave. Just goes to show one doesn't have to have a bunch of high priced parts in order to build a nice guitar. Good work.

Great video! Another great example for the tonewood debate, because it sounds just fine to me.

I struggle to believe the wood has a noticeable impact of the tone of an electric guitar. I'm a big fan of the Jill Lill videos in which he researches this in great detail. Having said that, if you unplug electric guitars and compare their tone there is a difference and strangely my scraps caster tele sounds really good. Thank you! Cheers Dave

Excellent work, it is admirable how someone can have the skill and creativity to create a unique guitar.

The guitar is exactly what Leo Fender was going for 75 years ago. Simple, works perfectly. Rear pickup bright, neck pickup darker. Light and fast. Isn’t it great to take cast off stuff and make a quality instrument?

Fabulous recap video of my favorite build, Dave. Well, I’m partial to Telecasters. I have a suggestion. One of my favorite bands is the Shadows. How about duplicating Hank Marvin’s wonderful red Strat? Just a thought. In recognition of his years of excellence.

Turned out nice Dave. I enjoyed the backing music, especially the track from making the jack plate to the end. I think I'm right in saying they are your compositions?

an awful lot of work and the result is a guitar that looks home made from a scaffold board that's been in the garden for 5 years
I should also comment that it is NOT a telecaster only fender make those...in the style of would be the correct description
