I know there had to have been a mess of bad days to get a good one like this! I'm changing from trout fishing the creek to brim in a boat and trying to get all the pointers I can. Great video, thanks for posting it.
Dang I wish I could find bluegill that size and that many where I live. Hate to say it I'm jealous. Great video keep up the good work sir I really enjoy your videos.
Man Johnny, you were on them this time. It’s was fun watching you throw it right in there mouth…lol. I call them shell crackers too, because it does sound better to me. Whatever they call them, they’re fun to catch and good to eat. Thanks for another great video and stay safe my brother.
Well, if you look at a bluegill the bigger ones, especially around the bottom of the gill flap and around the mouth actually has a blue tent and the redear like in the thumbnail for this video actually has what looks like a red ears but I believe it’s the females that are just a darker kind of copper colored ear Sometimes they’re black, but redear get bigger
I live in Southern Illinois and fish at 2 different state parks for bluegill and redear. Love catching some whoppers old school style with waxworms and a bobber on an ultralight. Brings out the kid in me.
Orange chest? Male. Silver in color? Female. Personally, I only keep males. Females are baby makers. You call them red ear, so you are from the Midwest. Let's hook up and do some bluegillin' sometime.
Well the fish in the thumbnail picture is a redear. They get larger than bluegill and bluegill actually have blue gill plates when they get to a certain size.
I could be mistaken but I'm pretty sure I know that lake. I wouldn't dare say which one it is on here but does it start with an S? I recognize the boat ramp. I was thinking about going and looking for them this fall and winter. Ever fish for them outside the spawn?

I see you dont need a spot lock trolling motor to catch em,you got that 20 dollar anchor.
L O L that’s right. Nothing fancy here.
@@JSOutdoors No spot lock, no side scan, no live scope, no lake mapping... how in the world is he catching those fish..?!?!

Could you explain how shallow you’re fishing. Is your boat located in a flat or does it taper down rapidly.
@@mariopiceno6075 it’s on a flat 3 to 4 foot deep at the most on the shallow end of the lake
