Well then, this was a jolly fun video to make and if you're tempted to give the brownies a try there's a link to the original video recipe here th-cam.com/video/gIlfIjy_wtc/w-d-xo.html or here for the write up barrylewis.net/recipe/chocolate-brownie/ but you'll need these ingredients: 90g plain flour (3/4 cup) 50g cocoa powder (1/2 cup) 200g unsalted butter (4/5 cup) 200g dark chocolate (2 cups) 100g milk chocolate (in chunks) (1 cup) or use 50/50 with white chocolate 3 eggs 280g caster sugar (1.3 cups)
@@ASBO_LUTELY 180c (assuming Fan) for 25 mins. It is mentioned in the write-up. Either way, I am really tempted to give them a try myself even though I'm terrible at baking.
Next time , open the other end of the box as well and push whatever it is in there, out.😂 You teach me to cook, and I will teach you how to open a box.😂😂
You should have added the milk in the machine's mix. That would have made them softer and more brownie like. The machines cook from both sides in an enclosed space rather than in a large space like the oven and so they cook differently. I have several of these machines that do different things and have found that they almost always take more liquid or less time unless you use the recipe books that come with the machines. Love seeing you try these machines out even though they don't always work out as you would like. The machines are really good for people who don't have the space for a full oven.
Also good for those of us who like sweets, but like to be able to control the ingredients and make small batches. If I made a whole large tray of brownies, they wouldn't all get eaten. This particular machine can also be used for other things, so it's worth the space.
I totally agree! I make everyday different little batches of recipes and get to try all different recipes I want not spending a lot on oven consuming just using a multiple waffle maker machine!
Same basic principle as an air fryer, because it's a smaller enclosed space, things cook much faster and you need a bit more liquid to prevent it drying out
A little brownie tip/hack/whatever: Use a thermometer! If you want your brownies the perfect balance between gooey and cooked just check the inner temperature instead of using a toothpick. I usually aim for 75-80°C and haven't been disappointed yet. :) We do take brownies very serious in this household, too. 😎
This needs a video where you're making different things in it! Mini Spanish tortillas, mini lasagne, I'm sure you could do loads of little snack ideas in it.
Loved this video. That would be a dangerous machine to have in my house. But your recipe for brownies is my absolute favorite ever! And I actually made these a week ago! Only thing I do differently is use German Chocolate bars for the melted chocolate, and bittersweet chips instead of milk chocolate.
I don't know if someone mentioned this but you should have a Barry's VS playlist where you pit gadgets that make recipes easier against doing them the old fashioned way and determine which is better.
Barry if you need a new spatula i thoroughly recommend the colourworks spatulas - they are shaped so they work really well on multiple different shaped vessels including jars (and round the lid area where its hard to get to - also have a shape so you can rest them on the outside edge of a pan. Only thing is dont leave them in a pan thats on because the handle can melt, which is how i damaged my first one - but they are so good I bought a second new one a couple of years later!!
I was given this brownie maker for my birthday, tried the recipe on the box first, definitely more like cake, and I too added chocolate chunks to it which helped a bit. Using it with my standard gluten free brownie recipe did produce very nice results however, I made a whole batch and using the thing to make more than 4 brownies really doesn't seem like it's worth the hassle, it is a bit of a pain to get the tray out with oven gloves, because of how small the lip in it is, and it dose tend to get a bit messy, though that's probably just down to my poor pouring skills. I think I'm going to use it by making 1/6th of my normal recipe amount so I get 4 or 8ish brownies as a one off desert, that's probably what it's best for. And it was funny to see you struggle as I did with how tightly they packed the thing into the box. Thanks for the video.
Hey there Barry, just a little tip about hot things. If you're trying to test if something is hot, use the back of your hand. The reason is that if something is scorching hot (say the handle of a pan), the intense heat and panic can sometimes cause you to actually grab the thing as you try to pull away, potentially causing serious damage. Using the back of your hand insures that you cannot possibly grab the thing, and at worst get a very minor burn. Just something they taught us in chemistry class.
Rest In Peace Trusty Spatula you have served Barry well and were TH-cam Famous featuring on a channel that has over 900k Subscribers. The Trusty Spatula has now gone to the big kitchen in the sky.
I prefer homemade brownies with the crispy top. The brownie maker is handy for not using the oven or just making a few brownies. Perhaps they would be less cakey with one less egg or cook a bit less? Thank you for the recipe and converting it for those of us over the pond. I love all your videos and your girls are beautiful, as your wife.
i have one similar to this it also makes really good mini bread loaves, crackers, tarts, pies and burgers its all experimental of course (the best way) haven't used it for so long think i will have to get it out again
You should let us know if you get in contact with that company and what their response is! I would be super excited to find out whether or not they actually are willing to work with you and change the recipe on the machine.
I wonder how chopped up candbars would do in this recipe...snickers, reeses, peppermint patties, ect. Would it change the cooking time or make it stickier?
Last week i made brownies with mint extract and mint balls. The balls kept shape but were soft in the middle. Cooking time was the same. (i loved them of course coz i luurrvee anything mint 🤪) I add anything whatever takes my fancy. Nuts, marshmallows etc. Generally, same baking time as consistency doesn't change much.
My family always add a layer of sugar on top of the oil on the pan for sweets, and one time i made brownies and accidentally tempered the sugar in the oven. It was a good brownie, and the bottom of some sections had a reflective, glassy covering of sugar. I still have pictures lol
@6:30 - Man, that style of oven glove seems incredibly dangerous thanks to the restricted movement, and not nearly as versatile as a normal pair if you need to have a hand free for other things...
you have to make somehting like "3 recipes to try on the brownie maker" - I believe you can come up with some nice stuff! Maybe even little pizza muffins 👀
Hey after seeing this I looked online to see one of these by Sunbeam it can do 8 brownies at once and is around the same price. You should do a comparison video.
Wait, so is you're strong hand left or right? Cause I wasn't sure if you were referring to holding on the box or the maker. (Also, I'm lefty and love finding other lefties)
I suppose this is great for brownie cravings. You just adjust your favorite recipe to fit 4 small tins and get yourself 2 servings of brownies instead of a whole tray.
Here's a thought - what if you use less dough in the brownie maker? That might keep it from pushing against the top letting it rise more than otherwise.
Gotta find that in the states. Try this, use your favorite brownie recipe, instead of chunk chocolate use peanut butter chips instead. No peanut butter chips, dollops of peanut butter works.
I hate cakey brownies. The amount of times I have bought brownies and they have turned out to be soft, chocolate sponge is ridiculous. Brownies should always be fudgey.
LOL...I've still got the CC on on your video from watching a previous Japanese cooking....and when you tested how hot that hot plate was it came up with "Mm, fa,sha. that is hot"....

yes, baking time does affect the type of brownie (cakey vs fudgy), but the amount of eggs does, too (1 less egg for fudgy brownies).
