Nice presentation, but there's another huge issue with overly thick intercoolers and that is the fact that the static pressure on the leading face of the intercooler goes up as the intercooler gets thicker. As the intercooler gets thicker it becomes increasingly difficult to convince the air that it should flow THROUGH the intercooler and not around it. This leads to needing ducting and or creating low pressure areas on the backside of the intercooler, etc.

Why install a bigger intercooler if the oem intercooler is partialy blocked and not 100% used? If you need a bigger intercooler, take the block off from the oem one and you get a bigger intercooler without having to buy a new one... Or am I wrong? 🤔

No it just makes colder air in general when it’s this much bigger

great video..i make all my customers watch it before they waste there money...helps me build trust , with the customers.. and they tell there freinds.. and i recvie more traffic.. also i own a 2014 ford fusion 2.0 gdi turbo engine.. as i live in a dry enviorment....california.. i did remove the plastic/rubber cover on my intercooler... dont know if i have more power.. but it can get over 100 degrees here alot in the summer... also taking off your intercooler once a year to clean the dirt and bugs off it is a good idea...

Some cars have water injection to increase compression, so if air going into the engine is a bit humid, it shouldn't be a problem. It's just easier to glue a piece of plastic on the intercooler, than reprogram the ECU to compensate for such conditions (additional sensor might be needed)

      Yes and no.
If you have a fairly large amount of water built up, it can cause misfires especially if your ignition system isn't up to the task.
Water injection is a fine pulse-width controlled mist, not a puddle of water sitting in a bowl at the lowest point of your intake.
If it got bad enough it could even cause hydro-lock or other engine damage.
You can't tune for every environment/climate condition, that would take much more resources. A piece of plastic is def much more practical approach, plus some easy gains for the aftermarket community should they wish.

Large condensation droplets vs a very fine injected mist.... not even remotely the same thing.

Stock Intercooler is exactly sams as on F150 and Explorer. ..3.5TT.
Anyone who is serious RS should take that idiot sticker off from stoc IC and not waist money on aftermarket intercooler.
Only people who baby their cars get large amount of condesation that causes detonation. Hit boost every drive and any small amount condensation will be pushed into engine without causing detonation...clean carbon up with it.
Sticker is there because of old pople with F150 had issues.

Ok, but by how much does it increase the efficiency of the motor, or what is the additional headroom for tuning? With lower intake temps, I would expect, that you can add more timing and/or up the boost.

I’d say I live in a fairly humid environment, am gonna get a tune but should I still change my FMIC? Should I be afraid of the condensation taking place? Or would it only be relevant to stock tunes

Anyone dataloged temparature on stock IC without sticker and aftermarket?
Stock IC is more than enough for anything stock turbo can throw at it...without sticker.

head gasket/block/ head, whatever is the problem, has Ford a fix so people want to keep the car?

    • @k9jsb224

dano I don’t think the block is strong enough to the rear. So even with the new head gasket I think problems with persist

Slightly off topic but between the Focus RS and the Evo X,which one has the best AWD system and why ?

    • @TheAngrySparky79
      @TheAngrySparky79 5 ปีที่แล้ว

uptheduffagain I personally don’t own either car, but from what I’ve seen the Evo X and the RS both have great awd control and performance. However, in a tight radius turn, the RS turns like a dump truck while the Evo performs better. On the subject of Evo’s though, if you’re looking to get one, try to find an Evo 9 instead. It’s by far the best Evo ever put out.

that's sad. on youtube, theres a lot of unhappy people! I've seen ford cashing out the car and ford getting you to invest in another car like the v6 mustang. sad.
