Looks like you got lucky, I bought a D6D from Fulton County Gov just North of Atlana GA a few years. And I drained three gallons of water from the sump due to a worn rain cap on the exhaust. Luckily I travelled over from this side of the pond as I couldn't get a local Cat dealership to check out a supposedly "faulty starter". Luckily for me the engine oil floated on the water and submursed the crank on oil. I had to replace the liners, but apart from that pretty much used all the existing parts.
im surprised it didn't push a liner out when your were trying to get it unstuck. would have been good to bolt the liners down with large washers using the head bolt holes. Im working on freeing up two cat engines now in bucyrus erie draglines. one is stuck bad and the other i think i will get it free. they've been soaking all winter in atf/ acetone
Great job on honing the cylinders now just prep the head by cleaning it and re-lapping the valves. It’s not the right way to do everything but if she runs that’s good enough. Love to see that old iron running again.
I use a fire wood round of hardwood to knock the pistons... seems to not explode after multiple hits .... also I run a wire brush in a wire wheel over the cylinder walls to clean it as much as I can easier to get past a couple mm of rust then a few inches ... cheers
This makes me want to take on another project. You have made good progress! Progress is the payment. I’m sure it will run.. Good luck and keep the faith…..
Nope, it would have been the cyl fartherest from the pump to seize first if it was hot. No gualing on the liner. It wasn't seized from being hot anyway. It was from water intrusion. Doesn't really matter, they have ruined the rings now.
Y’all don’t put marvel mystery oil in the cylinders? Just wondering my friend? I believe anything is worth a try and I’ve heard in the north they take a old car hood flipped upside down, slide it underneath and pile hot coals in the hood to heat the engine up slowly! May help break everything loose brother, you know heat does a miracle! Just saying! Guess not!
since you have the head off why not check the rods? then you'll know if you have a bent rod. that blade looks like a landfill blade if so the city/county could have just parked it because they got a new one and one day they decided to just sell it.
I am LOVING this channel!!

Hello like to see Part 2 of this bulldozer can the head go to a machine shop and have them fix it or is it cracked already

Will lapping fix the massive crack 🤣
Nice work guys. Doing a good job.
Lots of people spend more time and money gambling and they don't get as much exercise as you guys thanks for taking me along.
Thanks for watching!!
I can’t wait to see the next video brother! And just a five gallon bucket would have prevented it! Thanks for sharing!
Clearly the POs didn’t take the greatest care of these, kind of a bummer 😓

I'll be waiting for the next video. Great entertainment.
acetone and automatic trans fluid has worked for me freeing up long stuck engines
Radiator looks to be plugged. Hope you guys get that beautiful old iron going.
This makes me want to take on another project.
You have made good progress!
Progress is the payment.
I’m sure it will run..
Good luck and keep the faith…..
Thanks! Having loads of fun so far
Good work. Now let’s make some smoke! 🚧 looking forward to the next vide.
nice work
Love your work, very entertaining, more please. Gerald Ingram. New Zealand.
Good motor i think👍
Nice it's got a Huber fan
What’s that?
What part acetone to atf do you use , I have read this is the best penetrating oil.
DO NOT get that stuff on paint, it is a great penetrant, but hell on paint.
Still way cool u didnt just give up!!there is always the hope it could be a seller.other than scrape price.snookie pa.ill keep watching..💥👍💥
Thanks!!
The ole get a bigger hammer. Gramps would be proud, y'all are finding your adventure!!
Next time you should try using cleaning vinegar instead of acetone and atf it works pretty good if you give it a week or two. Good luck
Thanks for the tip!
Remove the oil cooler also and have it cleaned and pressure tested.
Yeah that thing needs help
You can swap the liners if you need to.
It shows good promise to run now.
Pour diesel in the bores to test the rings are dealing
use a trobo heater with a canvas raped around rhe boutom 1/2 warm up oil water and block.
Pull that radiator core and have it cleaned, that's why it overheated and seized the engine, that's why #6 cylinder got the hottest.

Pull both engines out take best parts build one you can build both motors hammering on pistons will put flat spots on rod bearings
could you guys move next to me. you're great and i want to be part of it.
I had an opportunity to buy a backhoe with a stuck engine. This is what I was hoping I could have done with it. Wife disagreed with my idea!
While off clean head and check injectors or find someone close that does head work
Head is cracked 😓
@@dieseJL dang. If more ppl saved machines like you be a lot of parts hope ya find a head
The only things that go wrong on Cats is the transmission. I can repair the motors and final drives but the trans is what scares me.
Hard to rebuild…?
boss what a cliff hanger

Na that's a root rake for land clearing landfill would use an oversized lightweight bucket or just a regular one
why dont you rebuild the head????
I’m still watching and hopeful y’all will get it free!
What remote microphones are you using?
The DJI ones, I have a link in our store I think
No one tells you when you buy your first piece of equipment that you need more equipment to work on your equipment,
Truth
Send it.
water gromets appear to be melted should not look like this unless eng was run hot
Change that oil!
Go to cat for the gasets
That poor old girl needs some attention.
Yeah she’s quite the project but we’re chipping away
@dieseJL I'll have to stop by there sometime and look at that
Acetone and ATF.... Everyone watches Jennings Motor sports
That depends on how much time, money, and effort you put into it.
Go to the place we're the was cutting the other one up get that head
That’s a D333 unfortunately not a 3306. It’s close but the water pump/thermostat connection is different.
