Growing up I had a good friend in the mid 80’s his dad had a huge Vinyl collection going back to Elvis, Louis Armstrong, Johnny Cash, Zeppelin, and so many more. When he would put The Cult on it stuck with me as the entire sound and energy was so unique. I am so thankful for those experiences that help form my well rounded Eclectic music appreciation

It’s very interesting to hear how much Ian’s accent has changed over the years.
His singing voice has taken a bit of a beating over the years but it’s hardly surprising with the lifestyle & passing decades.
This interview would be from the period that we were seeing The Cult on every tour in places like St Austell and Brighton Top Rank. The epic gig that I’ll never forget was Brixton Academy on their return from the US. The Phoenix whilst sitting on my best mate’s shoulders. Seared into my memory. Fucking unforgettable.

Saw The Clut and Metallica together in Atlanta around 1988-89. The Cult was actually the headliner that night. I would say both bands were at the same level of their music careers and both on the verge to become the next rock giants. Of course we all know what level Metallica went to and personally I thought The Cult was the better of the 2 bands. And thats considering the fact that I loved Metallica in the 80s. But from that point on The Cult kinda just remained the same as Metallica exploded into one of the biggest metal bands in history. I always wonder why the Cult just fell off the map around 1990 when they seemed to be enroute to mega stardom after Electric was released. Scratching my head on this one
