    I made the procedure on the same bike mate , because I had to... due to the leaking of fork oil. Thanks for your video , greetings from Hungary. (I see that you shared it in 2019, but I only bought my TDM 3 months ago)

      @@TheGarage2018Thank you...I wish you the same, take care. By the way, you said that, you're going to torque the cap bolt Down when you take the fork legs Back on the bike. Could you please Tell me the torquing value of that? Thanks in advance

      The fork caps need to be torqued to 23 Nm.

    Today I did the same on my motorcycle and finally discovered how the damping adjustment works, there are 4 nozzle positions and it is worth setting them the same so that you can then adjust both forks.

    16:35 I've never seen a caliper used from the slider to the rod end. Mine is from the bottom of the caliper to the tip of the rod.

    20:10 Before installing the cap bolt, apply grease
    onto the O-ring.😉(service manual)

    I have a 2012 TDM 900 would have been good if you did a 2 part fork change ,eg Part 1 just a fork oil change - as you didn't cover or show what you did . Also it does matter what way progressive springs go ( as the more the spring compressors the harder it gets - if you put in the other way would be VERY hard ride until you hit a large hit would bottom out BAD )

      I will cover how to change fork oil only in the future. I’m quite new to this TH-cam thing hence the video is quite sloppy lol :)). Thank you for your input:), knowing what people want from my channel will help me produce better content in the future. Regarding progressive prongs I suggest you watch this video:

    Excellent. But what did you do about the pitted chrome? Everybody wants to know.

      There’s not much you can do tbh. I ran over it with 2000 grit sandpaper to take the edge off and that’s pretty much it.

    Thanks a lot! One question though:
    At 4:05 you say "... a couple of good wacks". Well, I have been wacking for around 30 minutes straight now, but the the damn thing won't come apart. Any tips or tricks?

    • @jaffabaffa
      @jaffabaffa 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Got it!
      My tip: tighten the fork leg back into the triple tree again, and start jerking downwards from there.

    Why is it bad to use an impact gun to undo the damper rod assembly bolt?

    • @TheGarage2018
      @TheGarage2018  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s possible to rip the thread out, it happened to me once. The thread must have been damaged previously and when I removed the damper rod bolt using the impact gun I ripped the thread.

    Thanks pal... Just I let you know, that you have put wrong oil level into those forks, because what you have measured, is much deeper than 133mm at 16:30. From the lowest end of the vernier is 133mm, not form the end of the sliding jaw....

    • @Hlas2
      @Hlas2 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ohh. And T-handle can be made from a whatever size threaded bar rod with 2-2 counter tightened nuts on it.

    • @TheGarage2018
      @TheGarage2018  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I know, I realised that when I edited the video:)). I have corrected the oil level afterwards. Thanks for the heads up anyway ;)

      @@chrisTravel634 yes, I know I messed that up, but I have put in 501 ml of fork oil in to each fork leg which is the correct amount according to the service manual so there's nothing to worry about. thanks for pointing that out.

      According to the service manual each fork leg requires 0.507 litres of 10W fork oil. I hope this helps.
