Managed to change mine this afternoon. It was the original battery in fairness (‘98 bike!!). The video made it a lot easier and wouldn’t have had a go without it, so a heartfelt thank you for making the video! On a side note, Yamaha - why for the love of God would you put a battery there!!!
Replaced my battery yesterday evening, in under an hour. This video helped me a lot in the preparations, and the job itself went without any problems. I did not loosened or removed the passenger footrest frame.
My battery is toast and I've been building up the necessary courage to tackle this job. I've watched other vids but yours shows how to change it out in a methodical way that makes it appear doable for most mere mortals,( without a distracting soundtrack) will be taking this on over the weekend, cheers.
Ok, so it took me another month to get around to taking on my tdm battery challenge, just finished, job done , 2016 battery replaced. Top tip to anyone taking on this job ; buy a blowtorch before you start. If I didn't have one to use today to loosen corroded bolts I wouldn't have been able to complete the job and would have wrecked the heads on the stubborn bolts without it. The heat wrench is essential when tackling jobs like this especially on older bikes where the fasteners haven't been touched for years. The job took me about an hour and a half end to end and it was very satisfying to be able to get it done with the help of the video. Thanks again.
I love how everything on the TDM, from a headlight to a battery, requires some level of disassembly when on the TRX, Hornet, KTMs, whatever else is here, it's a 30 second job 😂 It's not like it's a lot of work, so no big deal, but it's at least a little irritating. Cheers for the video 👍
Finally a video that shows clearly and has good image quality. Thanks a lot! Greetings from Italy. BTW, I'm envying your nitrile gloves - so hard to find during pandemic. ;)
Thanks! Just did the same on my bike, your clip was great help. Unfortunately bought the battery for the 3VD which is slightly deeper, so I had to cut the back of my battery box out. It still fits which is good cause I want to ride. Once this battery dies I'll buy the right one and a new battery box, those things are cheap as chips luckily
Fantastic video New to biking went to start it up the other day and no joy won't hold a charge either. Changed the battery using your video Thanks so much Also had problems with the speedometer not working correctly must have been the battery as there now 100% Thanks again great video
Thanks for this, I just started working on my 97 fixer upper TDM and was wondering how I was going to get the battery out to replace, then I found your video.
They built the motorbike around the battery? I have a tdm 850 (2000) and i had a fazer 650. The fazer had the battery under the fuel tank. This is a pretty hard work

once my battery dies i will sell the tdm , omg why the hell put it there so that you have to disassemble half the bike ... soo nice if it dies somewhere down the road , ahh no prob i have starter cables ... right come back tomorrow , i have reached the poles by then :(
@@FrogsAngelsLondon I having issue I put new battery in but getting zilch when I hit the key. Took me 2.5hrs to get it in the first place I checked the fuse box for blown fuses as well as I believe the main fuse it's a 25 fuse next to the box is there another fuse I missed cheers for the video brw
Il video è ottimo resta il fatto che gli ingegneri della Yamaha sono dei mentecatti ...non potevamo fare un sistema più semplice x sostituire una batteria? Non ho parole

You're welcome. Nothing complicated. Just a bit of time and a big saving. All the best

It's not mandatory to take off brake switch and pillion link, you can just rotate a battery in horizontal axis when removing. Thx for vid.
Absolutely right but for the ease of filming the video it is much better.
Why is it so hard to take out the battery on other bikes it's easy

Indeed bizarre way to place a battery. Easy to remove when you know what to do. 👍
Hello . Please can you tell me the battery name and the Ampere. Because I have to change in my tdm 850 4tx
Very helpful. Thanks a lot 🙂
Thx for the vid.
Lots of work for a battery change.
You're welcome buddy. Yes indeed lots of work and not as straightforward as some other bike.

A bit of a pain but fairly easy to do. Enjoy!👍
Thanks kollèga! 🙂
Üdv Hungary-ból!
I'm thinking of scooping one of these bikes up today. I wonder if it would be possible to run a lithium ion battery, and just relocate it somewhere?
Sure. Best way is to have a go at it mate

Thanks. 👍👍👍
Grazie tante
just place bike on center stand remove rear shock remove 2 bolts from battery box open battery box with 2 screws remove battery
I dont understand why they didnt make it better accessible... i always had a feeling these bikes were a bit 'over-engineered'...
Yes indeed, Great bike tough
Why all those parts ,just remove fuel tank bolts and lift it,battery will be right under it.
👏👏👏👍👍👊👊
I've been considering one of these, but fucking hell! I mean, really? WTF, Yamaha?
Ahaha!!! hopefully you'll change the battery every 3 to 5 years so not a big deal really. Still a nice bike to ride 👍
Look at my method on my channel

One thing your battery won’t get stolen! 🙄
Много лишнего снял, достаточно снять крыло и открутить тормозную машинку
