(It hits dead center prior to it being a 'vital organ' or not. (Many are I guess in the realm of decapitaition, although many monsters don't have a neck to go by (hahaha lol thanks :) ) Bye. I did an all thieves run, where I only equipped things that dropped, the thieves stole, or what I found on the pachisi boards. Boss Troll proved hard though some cloaks of evasion helped (they drop by a certain mob) Cat suits were a good grind for as well.

So just to confirm, Seeds are basically not worth using until the end of the game when you're done leveling correct? Due to levels balancing out so you would be wasting them if you don't use them at the end?
The wizard mages in baramos' castle also drop the leaves so you can farm them. I'm fairly sure Orochi is female. I tried very hard to find out what luck did and the best answer I got from data miners was this: It affects your rate of dodging attacks, when you are at critical health. It doesn't affect your crit chance, your evasion chance *when not at critical health*, or your item drop chance ( via drops or thief steals). So it's nearly useless.
The content of the run was good. Personal complaint with the audio. I'm no audio genius and this might just be personal preference, but when the microphones are about as loud as the game audio, it all gets really difficult to follow. I think some of this may be a product of the game's soundtrack; it has low-ish baseline volume but likes to go into these loud swells for parts of the music. The daytime town music, for example, is pretty quiet, but then it gets really loud for one of the sections and it overwhelms the microphones. Rabble rabble. Rabble rabble.
So fucking stupid, way to complain about a non-issue. Literally the only guy down here batching about sound? It's actually perfect for once, can hear the game and the commentators crystal clear.
I get all the specifics for the run, and mad respect on that. But what happened to a team of three jesters to make three sages and thrash the game?! I had absolutely no trouble with any fighting doing that lol still a fantastic run
Enemy damage calculations work differently to your own, they're using moth powder to make enemies hit the metal slimes to exploit the change in how damage is handled to have them deal 4 damage.
As someone who grew up playing dragon warrior 3 as a child, I found this run amazing. My Nes cartridge reset my save game after finally beating baramos and I never finished the game as a result. Also why no golden claw from the pyramid to speed up the grind?
Huh, could you Stopspell Baramos in the NES version? I remember getting absolutely crushed by Explodet back in the day but Stopspell never even occurred to me; I just kind of assumed he'd be immune to it and never attempted it. That would've helped a lot.
I would have thought that the optimal strat for making the hero would be going with a female hero with sexy personality, as that personality has over 100% growth on all stats, with 110% on strength, 120% on agility, 105% on stamina, 115% wisdom growth, and 120% luck growth. I mean, sure, the stamina growth is a little lower, but the 115% wisdom I think is good for buffing the Hero otherwise wimpy MP totals to make casting Lightning and Healusall easier in the endgame, plus some of the female-only armors you can acquire are some of the best gear in the game.
I think the point is that they don't have time to collect anything that isn't absolutely critical or already in their path, so while the sexy hero might be better on paper, she's not *faster* in practice.
Honestly the timer must stop when the king shuts up just before that ending fanfare and the ending and credits. There are no more controller inputs after that.
Playing this right now and the caves are just downright terrible. Confusing, Too much dead ends with a lot of encounter. I can just waste 1-2 hours getting lost and kept coming back to same location in the cabve
I mean that's not technically wrong in a casual sitting but dq3 is one of the easiest games in the series and all of the difficult bosses that can actually pose a threat mostly use attacks which ignore character defense anyway, so you'd rather just wear armor that provides % reduction to breath or magic attacks, and you already have the light armor, water robe, and dragon robe as gender neutral options, so you only need one female character to make use of the light dress genders also have different base stats when you create characters and females roll lower strength and vitality than males do, which are the most important stats in dq3 the only real advantage females have is the vamp personality but that is quite overrated because while it has exclusively positive growths, you generally would rather have specialized high growths in the most helpful stats, which paragon and toughness give much higher growths to strength and vitality respectively
Which version of the game is this? As far as I know Dragon Quest 3 for the super famicom was only released in Japan and I’m not sure what other console version this would be. I’m at the beginning of the run so apologies if they say it soon 7:01
god I hate how much faster the movement is in the SNES version than the mobile version which is better in quite literally every way except for that, movement is SLOW

because the category for the run entails that they work within the parameters programmed into the cartridge there are also glitchless runs if that’s your thing, I prefer them as well by quite a wide margin, but that doesn’t make other categories of speed runs any less interesting to other people. It is by definition a speedrun after all, if a mechanism exists in the games code to allow it to be completed faster that is kind of the entire point of the community as it started.

Considering the original mechanic of the critical hit came about as a way to simulate hitting a vital organ, that tracks.

So in the tower while fighting the Metal Slimes, how was he doing 3 and 4 damage per attack to them? That seems extremely high.
