    I'm not sure with what I'm more impressed with the beautiful piece of wood, the CNC machine, or the actual alignment placement of the front and back when flipped. Either way, I really enjoyed the video.

      Delighted to hear you enjoyed so many things on this video. I too found this video extremely interesting as wood working has always been my first love. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace Debora.

    What a beautiful piece of wood to set upon such a fine piece of machinery Mr. Ed! The aroma in that workshop with all the fine wood present must be such a joy to be present in. Looking like a wonderful place to be in life. Thank You Mr. Ed for this mid week bonus video! -Bob...

    A programmable router. WOW. Look at how quickly that is done. Such perfect precision. For those who may not know:
    Crosier, staff with a curved top that is a symbol of the Good Shepherd and is carried by bishops of the Roman Catholic, Anglican, and some European Lutheran churches and by abbots and abbesses as an insignia of their ecclesiastical office and, in former times, of temporal power. This one looks like it is made of wood.
    Basically a shepherd's crook to pull in sheep who get out of line. It was done beautifully. Not too long ago this would have been done by router and a person would position and hold the router as it was finishing this work. This entire thing was done with programmable machines that can even sand down the burrs and then a monk puts the varnish on it. I think that was alder wood.

However, though methods have changed, the guys employing the new technology still have to have the skills and understanding necessary to wind up with the same results. Very soothing video, I had to look up "crosier" does the design of it mean or stand for something? Like their position or amount of time with the abby? (honestly not even sure if I'm asking this correctly) I must admit I don't know much about monks or the connection with a church or denomination... well here I go down a rabbit hole lol🤣 at least it's a wholesome subject to be up all night looking up on line...Anyway, thanks for sharing!

      Ok, found my first answer
      What is the meaning of crosier?
      1. : a staff resembling a shepherd's crook carried by bishops and abbots as a symbol of office.

    • @MrGoosePit

    • @Orxenhorf
      @Orxenhorf ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MrGoosePit Uh, no. That is definitely natural wood not plywood. You can follow the grain lines around the curve after it's carved out and when flipped over see the single glue joint from two 1-by planks glued together with the grain running top to bottom on both.

    • @MrGoosePit
      @MrGoosePit ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. By "ply" I meant 3 layers of wood. Looked like 3 layers to me on the small screen I watched the video on. Appears to be a hardwood. Will still be plenty strong for its intended use. Don't think they will be using it as a pry bar. @@Orxenhorf

    • @JeffHorchoff
      @JeffHorchoff  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      True, the hook would be stronger if it was steamed, but since the crosier is mostly decoration and not meant for aiding a shepherd in the performance of their job of defending grazing animals, not really necessary. God's peace.
