      The Hammersmith and City was the Barking to Hammersmith section of the Metropolitan line line b4 it became H&C in 1990 and C Stock worked it.

      The A stock did briefly rub shoulders with the District's trains when they worked the East London Line, and stock transfers from New Cross depot to and from Neasden went via St Mary's Curve (near Whitechapel) to Aldgate East, before disappearing off to the Metropolitan. But (empty) movements out to Upminster we think were pretty much confined to the first and last couple of years of normal use.

    Wow, it's unusual to see a middle DM on the outside without a red front! Anyways nice video, I imagine they switched the train on to the Hammersmith and City line tracks at Liverpool Street?

      That is correct.

      +rml2589 Also, I noticed 5210 had an extra light on at the back, isn't that the stabling light? If it is, why was it on?

      It was normal practice on the District Line, with D stock, to run with the stabling light on the rear in addition to the tail lights, perhaps that is why the crew put it on.

      rml2589 Oh yeah, that rings a bell, I have a pic somewhere of 5090 when the driver mistakenly left the stabling light on whilst on the East London Line.

    Why does it keep making a popping noise?

    • @rml2589
      @rml2589  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      In fact the popping noise is the line breakers opening as the driver keeps the train at a walking pace, by giving very small bursts of power to the motors, when he shuts the power off, the line breakers open with a pop.

    What was the A Stock doing at Barking? Though it was only C and D Stock

    • @rml2589

      Towards the end of their normal operation they were having issues with flatted wheels, the wheel lathe at Neasden was unable to process the affected units quickly enough, so some were worked to Upminster to use the wheel lathe there.

      Frewy Gaming Yes you are right it was the Hammersmith to Barking section of the Metropolitan line till it got its Hammersmith and City line status in 1990 although it was still worked by C69/C77 b4 it became H&C. The A Stock worked the main Met Line throughout.
