It would be cool to the see finished project. I have an '05 GX470 which I purchased from my son inlaw about 3 years ago. He is original owner and had it always serviced at Lexus dealer. When I got it it had 168k miles it now has a bit over 220k. Its a So Cal vehicle with absolutely no rust. I think I got a sreal from seeing your previous video. I paid $9k. The dash was replaced during recall as were rear airbags. Rack and Pinion was recently rebuit and I also had both front axles replaced as CV boots were leaking. This SUV is awesome and built like tank. Its my only transportation for now and killing me in fuel costs. Do you think and aftermarket cold air intake and exhaust system may provide better fuel improvement ? I've read mixed reviews on that and what do you think of Pedal Commander. Hey Lenny! We will be finishing up the project here in the next month or so and I’ll get a video done for it. 9k definitely sounds like a deal with those miles and maintenance history. You also know exactly how it’s been treated its whole life. As far as MPG goes I totally understand, so before I put 35s on it I had the idea of doing a “what it takes to get 20mpg” series of videos here on TH-cam. I may see if I can find some stock wheels and try it out. My plans were intake, exhaust, pedal commander, and I also have the snorkel which in theory would add to the effects of an intake. I wouldn’t be surprised if you could get 20mpg highway out of a stock GX with an intake, free flowing exhaust, and a pedal commander on eco mode.
I just changed out my GX brakes to the Power Stop drilled and slotted front and rear with ceramic pads. Totally worth it.
I have the centric GX460 setup on mine and it does well enough.
