As a seasoned commuter I commuted from Rye to Grand Central Terminal over a 30-year period at 5:30 in the morning. The tracks aren't air conditioned simply because it would take too much energy to do so. So instead plan your trip accordingly so that you can run from Grand Central which is conditioned to the train which is also conditioned. As for the ceiling if you look up to the upper left hand corner you will see one tile that is dirty they purposely left it that way because prior two or three vitalization and thankful to Jacqueline Onassis who was instrumental in doing so they left it to show what it was like prior to being cleaned. Something such a crybaby it's a couple of yards from Grand Central to the train you'll survive ask for those seats those are a lot nicer than what I used to travel in as I remember smoking car which was a toilet those seats are comfortable and they're AC outlets so you can charge your phone. Because when the platforms are hot instead of being an idiot and standing on the hot platform we stood at the gate in Grand Central Terminal waited for the doors to open up and then boarded the train. It's not that difficult. As for comical? That would be Louisiana when during a hurricane caskets were being unearthed in cemeteries and floating down the street. You have no idea how not beautiful it was prior to its revitalization and renovation.
Metro-North M7s were ordered post 9/11 and the company decided that garbage cans were a risk to security. LIRR have them because they were ordered pre 9/11.
How is it dumb? A jihadist could hop on a train all the way up north where there's little to no surveillance, drop a bomb or chemical weapon in a trash can, then get off at the next stop and let the train go all the way to Grand Central before making it go off. Nobody would ever know there's something in there, until it's too late. I'm honestly surprised that LIRR hasn't bothered removing theirs, as I'd think Penn Station is an even bigger target. Another thing that irks me is the fact that conductors frequently leave cab doors open wide open and unattended, where a jihadist could drop something. It's relatively dark inside and there's no guarantee that a conductor will go inside.
It was ridiculous! I remember walking around the train with my trash, looking for a trashcan, and an employee had to tell me that there wasn't a trashcan on board. Completely stupid.
I commuted on Metro North from Rye to Grand Central Terminal over a 30-year period I had no problem disposing of my trash. Maybe you might want to take it with you when you detrain and throw it out properly. Instead of crying about it because you're lazy.

That’s the dumbest, and only, excuse for not buying trash cans I’ve ever heard.

Its so ridiculous. No trash can in the bathroom, I mean other trains have trash cans, why not Metro North?
