I couldn't figure out why doing the date format wasn't working. My goal was to be able to filter by year, month, and date. I started fixing it by double clicking each cell and I knew there was an easier way out there. Thank you so much!
Really well done! Thank you. This was a life-saver for me downloading data from ERP, cleaning up in Excel, before exporting to Power BI for rendering and visualization. Couldn't have done this without resolving the date formatting hurdle. Thanks again!
Thanks Jon.. great tip. One I use in this circumstance is: Select an empty cell and press CTRL+C for copy; highlight the range of dates that are text; press CTRL+ALT+V for Paste Special; under the Operation section, click the radio button for Add; click OK. The dates in the paste range will be converted to serial numbers. The pasted range will take on the formatting of the copy cell; so, if needed, format the range to show the dates as desired. Not a better or worse method.. just another way to do it. Thanks for all the tips. Thumbs up!!
I've notices that simply selecting the column (or Multiple), then Text to Columns, and then FINISH (with making any selections) completes the same task.
Perfect! This is one of the issues I have been having with a report that I have to send out. Could you do a video that will show how to change a column that is converted from a CVV to Excel where it is a TIME. I have a column that reflects when a job was assigned during a 24 hour period, but the Time is listed as Text, so my sort goes from 1-12 instead of 12am to 11:59pm. Thank you for your help!!
Text ti column also coverrs this aspect. Number stored as text to proper number. Please visit channel "off to office" to know everything about text to column at one place and not in bits and pieces in different videos.

Hi Love your TH-cam channel it’s very helpful and easy to follow 👍 I was wondering if you could help me with a problem I have on excel? I have a set of scales for our business and the data is downloaded onto a excel spreadsheet. All the weights are in rows down one column which is fine but the data comes through like this: 15 kg 12.2 kg 9 kg and so on To use the number data I need to get rid of the kg, is there any way I can do this without doing it one by one? Thanks in advance Phil
