    I’m a simple man, I saw Whistler Bike Park in the title.
    I clicked.
    This year with the virus i can’t get to go to Whistler, it’s frustrating cause it’s been 3years that I go to WBP and do a 13hrs flight to go there but not this year...

    I just rode Hafjell Bike Park here in Norway on a 130r/160f trail bike for the first timeand did all the same lines I do on my DH bike. It rode surprisingly well when I hit my lines, but it was when I missed them slightly I felt how big of a difference it is! Also I got A LOT more tired in my upper body on the trailbike and I was also quite a bit slower on the really fast and techy sections.

    Great vid. I use a 2016 Specialized Enduro in bike parks exclusively. I did change the front forks to a Fox 36 factory and the rear to a RS Monarch RC3 Plus. Both are 160mm travel. I do run the rear Shock in the low compression and slow rebound, with 30% sag. 30% sag for the front, with 3 tokens. I have to say, the setup feels great, esp on the tech trails. The bike is a little twitchy on the jumps, but you will get used to that.

    That was awesome, especially on Dirt Merchant and your last higher speed footage on A-Line. I only ride my Santa Cruz Nomad at Whis as I live in SK and need a one bike quiver - have even ridden it a month straight in WBP. I wonder how fast you could do all of A-Line on the Enduro and the DH. Could be a great little race. I’d love to see that comparison on A-Line for sure, maybe Dirt Merchant and Schleyer too if you wanted a longer video. Your channel is slaying it either way.

    @VanCan, you're about 5 years late to the enduro in the bike park train :).... in all seriousness, I bought a Pivot Firebird in 2017 with the intention of making it my only mountain bike. I live in a city apartment with limited storage, so having a bike I could take to the park (where I do much of my riding) but also would be serviceable trail riding was of great importance. I don't regret the choice one bit, as it handles 90% of the park features with ease and is a serviceable, albiet slow climber. If you have the space and cash, obviously a quiver of bikes for all varieties of riding will serve you better, especially in the Gnar of Whistler. You will have to make the decision that fits your lifestyle best. Cheers!

    I usually ride a 140/160 bike at a DH park and can do the black/double black tech trails pretty easily...although easier on a DH bike. Also most park jumps can be ridden on a XC bike, just need the speed (and not to come up short)

    Another great Vid . Personally I think a Enduro bike can do everything that a Dh bike can . The biggest advantage that a DH bike has over a Enduro bike is Durability ie Wheels ,Frame components etc . If your smashing bikeparks all the time your Enduro bike will defo get wrecked but like I said on any given track performance wise there isn't much in it .

    I have a kinda sad but funny story. When I was little, I went on a vacation and one of the stops was Whistler. I didn't know anything about it, and at that time, I barely knew how to ride a bike. I was so surprised when this dude rode up 3 stairs, I was like WOWOWOW. So in conclusion, I've been to Whistler, but not ridden there. I hope I ride there in the future.

    I've ridden my 160/160 enduro a handful of times at Angel Fire. It's 'enough' to get the job done (and I don't think I'd want less...), but it is also quite a bit more fatiguing compared to a DH bike. I'm a little more hesitant to send things, and my body is a bit more worn out at the end of the day. For park laps, give me the DH.

    Interesting to see you having to make some adjustments to your riding and bike to feel comfortable on the jumplines. I would think that the enduro would fair "better" on the jumplines than the Tues, and vice versa on the tech. Curious to hear your thoughts on if you would have a DH bike if you only went to a BP a handful (say less than 10x) times a year, and if proximity to a premier BP really lends itself to owning one since there would be less wear/tear on your trail bike. I recently spent a few days thrashing my trail bike (170/150mm at Mammoth th-cam.com/video/nMQ_Z5rzgao/w-d-xo.html ;) ) on some gnarlier park DH and could see that wear and tear thing being a real deal.

    Enduro bikes are great for jump trails cause you can throw them around alot easier then a big rig. But I wouldn't own a enduro for a bike park, I've only taken my enduro to 2 bike parks and both times ive tacoed my wheels and broken bits. The DH bike is just built for downhill and can take the abuse.

I only ride the DH bike in the park, but I think it’s okay to have a dedicated park bike. Nothing takes the hits and does tech better.

      Well tubeless is better at puncture protection and sealing than any tubes system. Also, tubolito tubes are meant to be ultralight spares, not full use tubes. Kind of like the spare tire in a car.

    • @JustAGlitchFL
      @JustAGlitchFL 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also, tannus armor tire inserts are meant for tubeless, so how could you use a tube in it?

      @@JustAGlitchFL Tires equipped with tannus armor inserts and tubolito tubes are more puncture resistant than tubeless. Tubolito tubes are not meant as only spares, they're completely functional tubes that are lighter and more puncture resistant than butyl tubes. Tubolito tubes also don't lose air quickly like tubeless or especially latex tubes. Even the extra light version of tubolito tubes is as puncture resistant as butyl tubes. Tannus armor inserts come in tubed and tubeless versions, the tubed version was released before the tubeless version. But like any tubeless insert, it doesn't help all that much in the way of puncture resistance. It's mainly to protect the rim, and maybe prevent burping.

    Eh... It's more fun to watch an enduro. The DH bikes are cool, but they are only really fun to watch racing DH courses.

      SO disagree! Nothing beats a proper DH bike on proper DH worthy trails!

    • @bimfred
      @bimfred 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Eirik Folkedal this was his point i think, that the ‘DH worthy trails’, which DH bikes are designed for, are world cup tracks and the steepest/roughest stuff out there... but 90% of the time this isn’t where they’re used

      Can't say about a esthetically pleasing to watch because in videos I usually look at the trail, not the bike
      From a rider's perspective (disclaimer though, I'm not a good rider): I always rode a trail bike and it always felt good. Then I wanted to try a coil shock so I rented a dh bike at a bike park. This thing felt so much better it's not even comparable. I felt so much more stable and safe and especially since I'm not very good, I felt like I could ride more aggressive because the bike was way more forgiving with my mistakes. I never felt so good on a bike before
      Never tried a proper Enduro before, though my trail bike is kinda close to one

      I think it’s just easier for most viewers to relate to enduro or trail bikes because most of us only have one bike, and don’t live close to bike parks, so enduro bike it is. Plus when you watch other channels where they are riding trail bikes and keeping up with pros that are on DH bikes, it’s all that much more impressive to watch.
