8:30 This is how and why Uncle Roger is different from any reaction video, he not just sitting there and react to the video but also explain a little knowledge to his niece and nephew.
Oatmeal, ramen, eggs, and tortillas could just be made in a microwave, which comes in most hotels these days unless they're those smelly motel rooms I am now scared to make coffee in a hotel room bc someone could have attempted this in the coffee maker 😂
Some people in the comments have said people clean their underwear and stuff in them. Which sounds waaayy to crazy to be true... But, some people be crazy... I know I am never using a coffee pot again 💀
That, that right there is the most dangerous part of those videos. You do NOT know who is using the room after you and some people are so deathly allergic to things that just the smell can put them in the hospital.
@@abcd-hw8io the idea of this video is that you’re using a HOTEL coffee pot to cook in. And I don’t know about you, but I don’t really want to put my life in the hands of someone who barely makes minimum wage and has next to no oversight when it comes to cleaning. I knew someone who was a hotel housekeeper. They were told that if it ‘looked’ clean then to just give it a causal wipe down for dust and move on.
I feel like "here are some dishes you can make in a Hotel Coffee Maker" is code for "your family's homeless and live in a motel/b&b. Here are a couple of ways to hack a hot sort-of-meal besides making ketchup soup", but without obviously poor shaming anyone.
@@jinqzon4k937 I... wasn't? I was actually commending her, if anything, for having the ingenuity to come up with solutions for the many families who are stuck (often through no fault of their own) long-term in accommodation without access to a kitchen, but ironically quite possibly a coffeemaker, while also having the decency to not make the entire video feel like she's condescending or singling anyone out... (Assuming that's what happened. Like I get hungry late at night too sometimes. I'm still gonna pack a chocolate bar or something for my hotel stay, not aluminium foil and plastic cutlery. If you're actually living out of a bag, scraping together enough to afford a cheap room on cold nights, it makes a lot more sense.) I mean, obviously, progress on proper/better social safety nets so families that have worked hard all their lives don't end up in those situations would be preferable, but you're not going to fix that in one TH-cam video. You might though be able to help someone make a boiled egg or packet of ramen to feed their hungry kid a hot 'meal' or two until school starts again on Monday.

Traveling with aluminum foil is an essential - you need to wrap it around your head to keep them from peering into your thoughts while cooking with coffee maker..
I worked at a hotel as a cleaner for a week (the work conditions were terrible and I was a broke student so I didn't last longer). I can guarantee the water boilers don't get cleaned and if they are you would be lucky if your cleaner didn't use the old pillowcases/towels to wipe it. I definitely saw that happening.
"sir this suitcase is 500lbs" [opens luggage to reveal several woks, gas stove, cutlery, kitchen sink] EDIT: upon suggestion, three rice cookers as well.
As a student I used to put egg noodles into a pyrex bowl, cover them with boiling water from a kettle for 5 minutes. Pour off the water using a plate on top method, then throw in a knor stir-in sauce and a well drained can of tuna. Best done sober or risk burning your mitts!
I was actually a housekeeper at a hotel and as far as I’M concerned, I cleaned the coffee makers. Can’t say the same about the rest of the housekeepers I worked with. 🙃
That's how you learn to not trust anything, as a cook, I wash my hands often and ALWAYS after handling raw meat, can't say the same about some people I've worked with, I've seen them put raw poultry on the same table as ready to eat salads ffs, now I rarely eat out lol
Can confirm not everyone does. We partially cleaned the coffee maker before and after our stay at a hotel a couple years ago. It 100% needed it. I'm not easily disgusted, so it was fine, but when I brewed an empty pot when we got there.... it looked like I brewed coffee. At the end of the stay, we brewed an empty pot again. May not *actually* be cleaned, but at least it was a little better?
I know I"m a year too late but, I head the bit regarding why pack when you can just buy there? It depends on the price of things. I went to california for a school related trip, and it was cheaper to bring my own bottles of water than trying to buy the water there. So sometimes people pack foods because they already have it or it's cheaper than where there destination is, and then buy at destination for things they can't get at home, or are more expensive at home.
Speaking as someone who used to work in a hotel, the most cleaning a coffee pot/kettle will get is a quick rinse with hot water in the bathroom sink! Otherwise they'll probably be descaled once a month if the water is hard. Also if you get oatmeal grains stuck down the sink, you're going pay for it... so it might not work out very well as a cheap hack!

Induction stoves don't glow red, that's those weird glass stoves from long before induction stoves got popular. My mother had one when I was a kid and I kept burning myself on it because unlike an induction stove those shits got HOT.
My induction stove has red lights so I can tell which burner is hot.
Also the same induction stove gets incredibly hot because there's a hot pan sitting on the glass - it doesn't get hot by itself but it 100% will burn me if I touch the wrong burner after cooking

Oatmeal, ramen, eggs, and tortillas could just be made in a microwave, which comes in most hotels these days unless they're those smelly motel rooms

@@abcd-hw8io the idea of this video is that you’re using a HOTEL coffee pot to cook in. And I don’t know about you, but I don’t really want to put my life in the hands of someone who barely makes minimum wage and has next to no oversight when it comes to cleaning.

If you're actually living out of a bag, scraping together enough to afford a cheap room on cold nights, it makes a lot more sense.)
I mean, obviously, progress on proper/better social safety nets so families that have worked hard all their lives don't end up in those situations would be preferable, but you're not going to fix that in one TH-cam video. You might though be able to help someone make a boiled egg or packet of ramen to feed their hungry kid a hot 'meal' or two until school starts again on Monday.

“When I mean white powder I mean msg 😏” -Uncle Roger
Why is this so funny 🤣

I know I"m a year too late but, I head the bit regarding why pack when you can just buy there?
It depends on the price of things.
I went to california for a school related trip, and it was cheaper to bring my own bottles of water than trying to buy the water there.
So sometimes people pack foods because they already have it or it's cheaper than where there destination is, and then buy at destination for things they can't get at home, or are more expensive at home.
I love Alexis' challenges. You should do a review on the one where she makes a 3 course meal with a rice cooker
