The generator in my 2000 Holiday Rambler Endeavor appeared to have never been removed from the RV in the 23 years and 2400 generator run hours since it was built. In this video I go through the removal, routine maintenance and other findings from the work, and reinstall.
Some significant issues were found and the generator ran flawlessly on the next trip in 100+F heat, running for 6 days straight at one point. It's also much quieter than previous, both inside and out.

Ted, this is the best video on the 7.5 generator available. Thanks for sharing.

Well done Ted. I have a 2005 Gulfstream TOY HAULER with an Onan quiet diesel 5500. Recently we dealt with hurricane Beryl. I figured the 70 gal diesel tank would last. To my dismay, after running the genny for a couple days, sometimes just for the microwave and AC, I lost Onan electricity. Odd is that I can get "shore power" fine when I plug the unit into a dual fuel portable genny. I checked the 2- 30amp breakers on the QD and reset them, I also reset all the A/C breakers in the home panel. So far I suspect the wiring block on the upper corner of the QD or the transfer switch. Most of Houston lost grid power....now 6 days. I may do as you did, and drop the unit from the coach and give it a once over. Your vid will be most useful. Only thing I would do different is use BLACK tie wraps instead of white. As a retired telco tech, we used plenty of black tie wraps which last much longer because of the black carbon content in the plastic. Second choice are the thin STAINLESS (with ball clamp) tie wraps. They are almost indestructible to heat, UV , chemical and corrosion. Visit me in Houston if you trip to the Gulf Coast.....good fishing and BBQ. Later Ted ;-)

Look under the bottom pan of the gen and see if your motor mount bolts have dropped down indicating the motor mounts under the motor have sagged or disintegrated. My bolts are about 5/8 lower than the pan so I think the noise is motor/alt mounts more than anything. I pulled mine out and did the same service but its still much louder than they where when new. Mine is a 2003 Kountry star. Thanks for the video, it reminded me how hard it is to inspect those mounts and why I didn't take a look at them.

Great Video! I have a QD 6000W, which is on the drivers side rear in my Allegro. But, I am assuming steps are similar. Mine overheated a bit and is now that is making a rattling noise when hot (purrs when cold). So, I think that I have to do what you did (pull and do the valves, etc.).

👍👍 Really appreciate your efforts and TH-cam sharing with this RV.
Also really like your gutsy moves to go at anything on the Holiday Rambler especially the CAT 3126 etc. Amazing stuff your doing and so helpful.
I just got a 2000 Holiday Rambler Endeavour with CAT 3126 engine and Onan 7500 generator as well. I am looking at doing similar replacements and renovations especially after seeing your TH-cam channel and how you have shown the way!!
Would appreciate your input on this matter.
Did you ever find or come across "detailed documentation" or a mechanics service/ repair manual for the older 2000 Holiday Ramblers or Endeavour ?. Not the superficial 300 page owner's manual but rather any items with more extensive drawings and diagrams showing structure, layout of the plumbing, wiring, switches, fluid lines, support beams, etc. ??
Again we so appreciate your gutsy RV moves and efforts in repair, renovation and replacement of items to help keep our older models going. Amazing our compliments.
    Cheers
    Frank

Thanks for the kind words, Frank!
When I bought my RV the previous owner had chassis side wiring diagrams which came with it. I've gone through them a few times but truthfully have really not benefitted from them. The stock wiring hasn't caused me any problems, I don't think I've even had to replace any of the factory switches. The bigger thing that's helped me is understanding how the various systems work, especially the house side electrical system. For example multiple outlets can be on one GFCI and it's not always clear or even remotely obvious which is which - so an outlet lacking power could be from a GFCI in another part of the bus that you wouldn't expect.
Freightliner makes a pretty simple chassis with pretty simple systems. Hope my videos can help you improve yours! The bus is enormously better than it was 3 years ago when we first bought it.

@@TedsGarage Thanks for your reply Ted.
So glad your bus is improving and looking forward to hearing more.

Standard green coolant. That’s what it had in it when I got the RV.

@@TedsGarage thank you I recently Acquired this same generator with less than 250 hrs wanted to just do a freshen up your video was perfect thank you .
I'm putting it in our 1998 Prevost XL , also going to be putting solar system.
I've greatly enjoyed your videos and learned much we made our maiden voyage 6,500 miles from Texas to Maine and thruout eastcoast.
Please share your solar system when you get to that point.

@@detailmasterconstruction5014 Glad you've enjoyed my videos! When I do get to a solar system on the Prevost there will be a video about it. Have you checked out my video on the solar setup I did on my previous RV? I was happy with how it turned out. For my Prevost since it's a 24V house array I could double the solar wattage with the same controller. I would definitely go higher wattage, and I would also use larger panels and fewer of them, rather than the 12x 100W panels I did on the previous install.
